I previously ordered a different tv from a different brand but it was awful so I decided to order this one. I LOVE it!! I’ve had it for a week and I’ve had no problems. It’s easy to set up, the picture is great and the sound is great too.
I 100% recommend this. Cheap smart tvs have incredibly slow processors and so you find a lot of lag when switching between menus and apps. Not this one! I even hooked it up to my Sky mini box and it’s perfect. Image quality and sound are also great. It performs very well and considering the price, it’s a hands down bargain. Buy it.
Have had this make before so knew what to expect. Lot’s of apps on here and works well once you have coped with the faf of setting it up which was comber some and time consuming. Poor sound quality.
I bought a TCL 32 inch before this one, and it was awful as was so slow to change between screens. This brand however, is fast and I’m really pleased with it.
Overall we’re happy with the TV but the sound quality is awful so if you’re going to buy, factor in the cost of a soundbar.
The sound can be marginally improved buy turning off some of the fancy sound settings, but still far from good.
Good news is that it does have optical Audio and e Arc so using a soundbar is essentially seamless, it’s just buying one.
Has its own telly shows such as Roko, n can watch YouTube, and Netflix among others x good quality viewing n would recommend to anyone who wants to buy this product xx
Be aware, the leg attachment holes are not tapped, i.e they are not threaded and the screws that come with this TV are not self tapping; they require considerable force with a large cross headed screw driver. I very much doubt a woman would be able to complete this process . The ideal screws should have been self tapping with an aggressive thread.
This is the only negative that is apparent because the TV is, for the price ( 199.00), an excellent product.
I bought this TV to use as a monitor on my Wife’s HTPC, the setup was the easiest I have ever come across.
Picture quality is excellent and the colours vivid to say the least, ( mind you it replaced a 14 yr old Toshiba that was still very good but dated).
Nice TV replacement as son smashed other one the only thing that I not like is I can’t use my Bluetooth headphones or live itvX but apart from that it’s ok and has a nice selection of free content my 6mnth old daughter quite likes duck TV as it’s tailored to babies sort of like baby TV but free.
What lets this TV down are also important. It only has 2 HDMI ports where my previous TV had 4 so I can’t connect all that I want to the unit. It has 2 USB ports so that’s ok. Sadly the main fail is the operating system!. It’s a Hisense version of Android. This means that you have NO access to Google Play Store or the apps . You cannot get apps like Spotify either. You get loads of pre-installed apps, 95% of which are crap and when you access Hisense app gallery there is more garbage there. Really poor. If I had known that this was the case I would not have purchased this TV which only came on the market on 12th July. Shame really as it’s a nice TV but sadly lacking the basics! The remote control has easy access buttons to many useless apps that I do not use and does not have Alexa! not good either. So overall a good TV spoiled by basic apps that you cannot delete and no access to Google Play store.
This 32″ version surprised me with just how light it is, especially after the Panasonic it replaced. With the right plasterboard fixings I would have no hesitation mounting this TV to plasterboard.
The specification is as advertised, and while nothing special I wanted this in my home office and it more than meets my needs. See photos.
Setup was easy, join Wi-Fi, choose region and then agree with the EULA and Privacy Policy. Do you due diligence on the other data gathering policies common on smart TV’s these days.
Built in apps for the common streaming services worked as expected, and sound output is adequate considering the speakers.
The power lead is fixed and cannot be removed. AV ports are well situated in the middle at 90 degrees to the screen. There are no convenience ports on the sides.
The hardware of the TV is in the lower quarter, making the upper part of the TV very thin and suitable for mounting devices or power behind when wall mounted without a problem. I mounted an Apple TV and had loads of room. See photos.
VESA mounting is available, however due to the size of most brackets and this only being 420mm high, some brackets may be visible over the top of the TV depending on fitting. I had this on the old Panasonic and took a saw to the top 3″ of the unused VESA bracket. Your bracket may differ and this is not a problem if you’re using the included feet.
Due low resolution 720p I would not recommend this for high end gaming as a full HD (1080p) or 4K TV would be a better investment.
For the money, I cannot fault it. Great secondary TV in the home/office/bedroom/kitchen etc.
I’d equally echo other reviewers here and say it is a good value for money TV. Decent enough picture and sound, plus smart features, so ideal for a second room.
Having used it for a few days I’ve knocked a star off because the marketing is a little misleading, discovering a few things just aren’t there on the smart side
Spotify app – this TV currently doesn’t support this music streaming service. Only Deezer and Amazon Music
No Apple TV support
Voice control support. This is via your Google or Alexa speaker only. The remote in the UK has no microphone in it (something that isn’t supported in the UK)
Screen cast/mirror. Doesn’t work directly with Apple devices such as an iPhone, only Android. There is a “work around” this but you have to load up an app on the TV first.
Overall, it’s great TV for the money, just a few disappointments on the software side of things
This is about the cheapest known brand 32″ telly available on Amazon.
The screen is 720, not 1080, (you won’t get 1080 for 160) but it is still very clear and bright. The quality difference between 1080 & 720 is not as noticeable on smaller screen tellies as it would be on a 55″.
*** Update, Amazon spec says it is 1080.
Everything else is (almost) perfect. Remote is well laid out and feels of good quality, loads of Apps including Disney, Netflix, BBC iPlayer etc. It does not have ITVX, only the older ITV app. Whether this is available via an update, I don’t know.
*** Update I was able to do a sw update over t’nternet (telly is normally used in a no t’internet area) and the update did put ITVX onto the TV
It has inputs for both terrestrial TV from an aerial (Freeview) or from a satellite dish. The initial setup asks you to select which of the two you have. I don’t think it is possible to have both connected.
Setup is straight forward, just answer the on-screen questions.
There are loads of options within the menus, for tweaking sound, picture, how telly turns off, standby light etc, exactly the same as you find on an expensive telly, there is nothing that I can find missing, that would not be found on a telly three times the price.
A minus point is the stand. There are two legs that require the user to fit and requires the use of a Pozi#2 screwdriver as each leg is secured with two screws. Easy for anybody than can put a few screws in, but I know some people may not be able to use a screwdriver.
The two legs are handed, a big ‘L’ and ‘R’ are moulded into the bottom of the telly, but somebody forgot to ask the leg maker to mould the corresponding letters into the feet, so you have a 50/50 chance of getting them right first go.
The legs fit right at the edges of the telly, so whatever it stands on must be at least as wide as the telly, there is no option for mounting the legs closer in. This would have been easy to do, as there is plenty of space along the bottom & other manufacturers give this option (but again their prices are higher)
The telly is very light (which is good) whilst it would be difficult to knock over, it could be knocked sideways, so again, having the feet right at the edge of the telly, could cause it to fall off.
There is a protective clear film on the screen, for removal after installation. This is good, just be careful that you peel it off carefully, so it comes off in one sheet, as like most tellies, the screen is plastic, so vulnerable to scratches.
So really, there is nothing (much) to dislike about the telly and is very good value for the price. If you are mounting on a wall or the table top is wider than the screen, there are no issues. Screen is very good for a 160 telly, but don’t expect it to match that of a known brand costing double or three times the price.
Update to my review & after reading other reviews.
The TV does have a manual. It is an i-manual built into the telly. Admittedly this is not documented on the packaging and not obvious to find.
For a 2022 model telly, some of the Q&A are from 2021. Amazon is good at mixing different, but similar models up.
Mine, bought in January 2023 certainly does have a Disney+ button on the remote & Netflix & Amazon Prime. The getting started guide does detail three different remotes and says they vary from region & model.
It will record & pause live telly (according to the on-screen prompt}, but have not tried using this function, as it requires external recording media.
The tech details on Amazon say 1080p, so maybe I was wrong in thinking it was 720. In which case the picture quality is not as good as I would expect from 1080, but again it is only 160 so cannot really fault it or compare it to a Sony costing twice the price.
Remote control does become unresponsive sometimes, a few others have commented on this. I guess the processor is off doing other things and takes a while to come back and check user input. Maybe changing some of the settings would resolve, there are options for automatic updates when on standby, automatic updates to channel list options, for example. Changing these options may help.
It doesn’t stand on a central mount, like every TV I’ve ever owned, but sits on two double-legged supports at each end. This caused me to have to get a wider TV stand. The supports, once I had fitted them, are 81 cm or 32 in apart. I ended up buying a second hand one from a British Heart Foundation store for 50 that was 100 cm or 39.5 in wide.
Anyway, the handbook was next to useless. It shows you how to fit these supports, which I could have worked out for myself, and what the buttons on the remote do – again being mostly self evident. One button, however, is called the media content control and is positioned below the blue special function button. Once pressed an image of the central navigation/OK button appears on screen. This image shows a red dot on the ‘up’ position button. If you then press this corresponding up button on the remote a ‘Record’ box appears on screen showing that a recording of the program currently on screen has started. So, the TV has a record function!!! No mention of this in the useless handbook. Just where or how this recording can be accessed or where the recording is stored I have no idea. I will have to investigate. I had a stick in one of the USB ports, which enables me to access pictures (jpg), music (mp3) and video (mp4), so maybe it was placed there. If this record function can be applied to the EPG then future programmes could be recorded. Again must investigate.
I had a firestick plugged into the other USB port just to see what the difference between it and the smart function of the TV is. As far as I can tell there is little or no difference. Incidentally, the TV remote operates all the functions of the firestick!!!
There is a browser but it is very slow and I use my phone instead.
On BBC channels I used to be able to access the text box when pressing the red button. Not on this TV. Maybe there is a way but I haven’t found it yet. So it’s flashscore on my phone for sports results!
For those concerned with power consumption the useless handbook says standby draws 0.5 W. Usage when switched on, the useless handbook says, is to be found on the rating label. Once I had found this label it said 42kwh/1000h??? The back of the TV says 74W??? My smart meter says it’s not costing much.
All in all I’m quite content with my purchase and can recommend it if you don’t mind using it with no help from the useless handbook.
Aha, after further investigation, I’ve found out how to record future programmes! Open the EPG by pressing the ‘GUIDE’ button. Highlight the future programme you want to record and press the ‘OK’ button. A new screen ‘Schedule Recording’ appears showing the programme selected with start and end times. There is an option field called ‘Repeat’ which, I think, gives you the option to record a series. If this is okay you can then press the ‘Save’ tab. The EPG then appears again with the highlighted programme box now showing a small box with an icon in the top R. H. corner. Any such programmes will then be recorded to a flash drive in one of the two USB ports. I used a 32 GB stick which worked well. I don’t know how big a flash drive you can use. You cannot record programmes that overlap. None of this is to be found in the useless handbook. You may be able to work all this out from the TV Menu. This would entail wading through pages of texts and such info should really be placed in the handbook. Anyway, hope this helps you make up your minds.
