I ordered this product as I was in need of some, so decided on this. The feed did exactly what it said on the outer packaging and was straightforward to use. I had no problems using this near to my bees, which was great! Will look to purchase more when I run out of this packet!

On this product it would be great to have further information about the time of year that it is most effective to use it.

It does say not to use it in heavy rain. So I will test it in a dry spell and update my review.

The box I am trialing it on is already badly infected and has been for months, which is not a ideal test I know.

But I will photograph my progress.

Very easy to use, clear concise instructions. You will need a spray bottle of some sort to put the made up solution in so you can spray your box plants. So far so good, my box plants were starting to be eaten but that has stopped with no sign of anything eating them anymore. I am hoping the plants will now recover. Good product, good value for the money.

Bought for my father who was losing his bush, after a couple of treatments this seems to have held the problem back. Only time will tell but so far so good.

The big plus for this product is that its non-toxic, so safe for me to use in the garden with the kids and cats around. I’ve used something similar earlier in the season with reasonable results, this one however is easier to use and better value. It’s a little late in the season to give a fair comment on effectiveness, as numbers are naturally reducing, but my hedge is looking healthy so I’m encouraged.

The packaging keeps the granules dry and easy to open and close.
The granules disolve in water well and are easy to apply to the infected plant.
It is very early days, but the plant is showing signs of recovery.
I will add further updates in the future when the plant has chance to benefit from the treatment.

The PLANT GP Box Tree Moth Caterpillar Treatment is a valuable addition to any gardener’s toolkit, offering effective and environmentally friendly control of a persistent garden pest. Here’s my review of this product:

    Pros:

Environmentally Friendly: One of the standout features of this treatment is its commitment to environmental responsibility. It is safe for bees and birds, which is crucial for maintaining a healthy and balanced ecosystem in your garden.

Effective Control: This product delivers on its promise of effective caterpillar control. It helps protect your boxwood plants from the damaging effects of box tree moth caterpillars, preventing defoliation and promoting plant health.

Easy Application: Applying the treatment is straightforward, making it accessible to both experienced and novice gardeners. The included instructions are clear and easy to follow.

Long-Lasting: This treatment provides lasting protection, reducing the need for frequent reapplication. It offers value for money by keeping your boxwood plants healthy and thriving over an extended period.

Versatile: While primarily designed for use on boxwood plants, this treatment may also be effective for other caterpillar-related garden issues, offering versatility for various garden needs.

    Cons:

Requires Patience: Like many eco-friendly treatments, the PLANT GP Box Tree Moth Caterpillar Treatment may take some time to show noticeable results. Users should be patient and allow the product time to work.

Additional Pest Control: For gardens with multiple pests, this treatment may not address all issues. Gardeners may need to use other pest control methods in conjunction with this treatment.

Packaging: None, just came in an Amazon box

Product: 60g snap seal bag of Box Caterpillar treatment. Powder in a clear bag within with a plastic scoop.

Functionality: For years I have been picking off the caterpillars by hand and it has seemed like a never ending cycle, but worth it to save my shrubs. So I was pleased to stumble across this product.

Although this is non-toxic to humans, pets and wildlife, I always wear protective gloves when applying treatments in the garden. Also, use this when there is no threat of rain (as it will dilute the treatment) and either early in the morning or evening when the UV rays and heat from the sun has eased.

There is a 5g scoop included in the bag. Dissolve 5g of the powder with 3 Litres of water in a sprayer. This mixture will treat 30 square meters of Boxwood surface. So essentially the product will do 10 treatments, which is good value for money.

I have only used it once so far as it is quite late in the season, but I completely saturated my box shrubs one evening. So far there are no caterpillars or eggs to be seen, so fingers crossed.

At the time of this review the product was 11.99, which I believe is good value for money and I would highly recommend.

I have had awful trouble with the box tree caterpillar in my garden this year, with it destroying so much of my hedging. I have used this treatment after most of the caterpillars had turned into moths.

Reading the product details was an education in itself. There are slightly different instructions on the packet, compared to the product description. This is a bit annoying. It states that it is safe for bees, humans and pets. I think this is a really important feature. To be most effective, vigilance is crucial. However, the effectiveness of this treatment is dependent on the climate and weather patterns, so expect results to vary.

This is in a resealable pouch and I like that a measure is included. This packet will make up 12 litres so it does go a long way.

I’m new to this product but I will definitely keep using it. I don’t think the full effects are evident yet — I think twelve months down the line you will have a better idea of its effectiveness. However, it is at a reasonable price and I will keep using it for 12 months in my garden because I am hopeful it will work. Having seen my box hedging devastated by these pests, I am willing to try anything and all the descriptions and instructions seem promising.

Well I think I came to this product a bit late as my box bushes have been severely attacked this year by the box moth. I have treated the affected plants and those that have so far escaped. Time will tell if this treatment is going to save those already affected, but hopeful that this will save the remaining bushes, and so so for years to come.

I was devastated when 2 of my large box plants were infested with the caterpillars as they are such a slow growing plant. Within a couple of days the plants were no more, just bare woody stems. One of them did start to regrow from the bottom but a day or two later, the caterpillars were back.
I have another 3 box in my back garden which I’m keen to protect, hence this product was ordered.
I have used once and will repeat soon. It was easy to mix in a watering can and just pour over.
Fingers crossed it works and will save me having to dig out the box and replace with something else.

Box moth caterpillars are increasingly common in Southern England and no doubt will spread north as our climate heats up.( I’m in Cambridge). They destroyed significant parts of my box hedging before I realised what was going on (I’d assumed it was blight and therefore not worth treating), I then had to shred a ten foot tree as there wasn’t a leaf to be seen. The caterpillars were literally climbing out of the shredder (thousands!!) as I was doing this. I did have some success with a moth trap (caught around 30 in what I presume was their third breeding cycle)
I’m pleased with this. After noticing multiple caterpillars in my hedge I sprayed as indicated by instructions. To my surprise a couple of days later I noticed quite a few dead or slow moving ones. Thankfully the hedge is beginning to grow back however I await the next cycle with some trepidation. Timing is important here and I think ideally you would spray as they begin to hatch. They get quite big before turning into moths so by then they have probably done most of the damage . Its by no means a perfect solution and needs repeating, probably along with traps (to alert you when they are laying) several times in the season. It gives the hedge a fighting chance but I suspect in the long term it will need replacing.

Caterpillars have been a bit of a nightmare for me this season, so I was thrilled to see this product. It was very easy to mix with water and spray onto the box. The measuring scoop was really handy as well! After a couple of days, the live caterpillars seemed to have gone, which is great!
I’ll treat it again later in the season, as caterpillars appeared 2 to 3 times last year. Happy so fa

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFantastic natural, bacterial solution to those pesky caterpillars!
I live in the UK and this year my buxus box topiary plants have been decimated by box caterpillar.
The product is supplied in a nice thick pouch and is further bagged inside. There is a measuring scoop and easy to follow instructions.
There is quite a strong smell upon opening the product, but I found this reassuring as it seemed alive and potent.
I used a sprayer to cover my box plants entirely.
I applied in the evening on a still day. UV & heat can quickly kill the bacteria, so it’s important to apply it in the right conditions. Also, do not apply if it is due to rain in the next 24 hours – as it washes off the bacteria. The caterpillars feed all the time, but I’ve found they gorge themselves mainly at night, so applying in the evening makes sure they ingest ALOT of the product.
I wore a mask and gloves to apply the product. Although harmless to us, I would not advise to breathe in a large dose of any bacteria.
In the next two days, the caterpillars looked like they were in a paralysis, not eating or moving even if I poked them. They had stopped eating! Over the next week they started to go black and die.
Brilliant product. You get loads in the pack too – so I will be able to treat many times through the year as necessary.
I LOVE the fact it is effective and non toxic to surrounding other bugs and animals – it would be harmless to a bird if it were to eat a dead caterpillar.
Would I recommend- absolutely! Brilliant effective product 5*****

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersTreat box shrubs in growing season so between March-October. Spray as soon as you see the caterpillars (remove by hand daily to help with the treatment and cut any infected branches off, you’ll see white webbing from the cocoon on them) and repeat every 10 days. I’ve been treating my box shrub since March and you have to be vigilant to save your shrub. Keep at it as rain and uv rays weaken the treatment. I’ve given my shrub it’s last treatments using this as it’s now September and will continue until October. So I won’t be able to give you an accurate result until I start treating it again in six months time. But if you’re looking for a natural product then this is worth a try. Easy to mix (one spoonful for 2 litres of water and spray on) It will be easier to know if this works in March when the caterpillars are obvious to see but I’ll soon see if it does and then a decision can be made whether to turn to a chemical treatmentGo in deep and heavy with your spraying. Box caterpillars are actually poisonous to our wildlife in the UK so birds tend to steer clear but there isn’t any guarantee that blue tits won’t eat them but mainly any treatment you use won’t have a forwarding effect to other wildlife. They are relatively new to Britain and can completely defoliate box plants and extremely problematic in the South-East. Personally I’ve not seen many bees congregate around my box shrub as it’s non flowering. I would hate to lose my shrub so I’ll be at it again and I’ll try to update next yea

4.0 out of 5 stars Keep at it!

East to mix with water and spray onto the Box. By the next day the live catapillars were no more.
I will treat again later in the season as last year there were 2 or 3 different times when they appeared.
