I used it to amplify a wi-fi signal from within my house out to a workshop without any from of ethernet cable. Location is a balance between getting a good signal from my router yet being close enough to the workshop. It took me a while to realise that it will only take a signal from the main router and not a slave “disc”. It also took me a while to realise that it sets up a new network that my devices have to be re-connected to using router password

Great item been looking for something to get WiFi at the top of the garden & this really works .
Have no problem getting signal in the garden now
Would recommend if you have bad WiFi signal outside .

Bought to use as an extender in my loft to sort out WiFi dead spots. Worked a treat without a drop in performance on speed test comparing to main router.

A bit confusing to set up, does extend the range but probably not as much as I thought it would. Shame it isnt battery powered as still requires a line drilled through the wall!

Really easy to set up and install, all done in 5min. Used the supplied cable ties to fit to down pipe on house.
Wifi within 10m is superb and still works at 60m although there is some drop off which is to be expected.

Our old setup – which this replaced – was a regular indoor 2.4GHz access-point with remote outdoor aerial on 3m of 50-ohm coax. The WavLink gives slightly improved 2.4GHz signal compared to the old set-up, but not dramatically better. Though, of course, we gain a 5GHz option as well.
Devices (phone, laptop) which are at roughly the same height as the WavLink’s aerials can reliably access a 3-out-of-five-bar 2.4GHz signal when about 30m away, but they need to be somewhat closer to reliably use the 5GHz.
Accessing setup via the WavLink’s web page was pretty simple. Just power it up, connect to it wirelessly from a laptop, and you’re able to logon and configure. Configuration itself requires a bit of WiFi knowledge, but that’s true of almost any stand-alone wireless access-point: because very few WiFi devices – other than ready-configured router-modems included with line-rental packages – are going to come pre-configured with unique WiFi and admin passwords and with the WiFi channels properly set up for use in the UK.
All-round it’s a good WiFi access-point for outdoor use in a modest-sized garden. And – provided you’re happy to screw it to a wall because it has no stand – it would work well indoors too.
With the 15-off-voucher which was (seemingly at random) offered to us at check-out this device was excellent value. If you have to pay RRP… well, you still wouldn’t complain.
