When I saw these products, I knew they would be fantastic for my upcoming trip abroad!
These travel plugs by chiefox fold up small, thanks to the hinged design, that allows the European prongs to fold into the main body of the plug. This is absolutely perfect for anyone looking for an item that is compact and easy to travel with.
In addition to this, the product feels well built and I have faith that they will be perfect for my intended use!
Work perfectly, small as well
I’ve not used these myself, I’ve not had the chance. But my wife is currently abroad in Italy and using them. She’s really happy with them. They stay in the socket (well, as much as any Euro plg stays in the socket) and the UK socket isn’t too tight nor loose. She’s been using it for her MacBook, iPad and iPhone chargers with no issues. She also likes how small they are and that there’s “No sticky out things” that scratch the other items in her bag.
Nice well built and sturdy adapters
Very nice to travel with as these EU to UK adapters have fold-up EU pins making them very easy and safe to slip into a laptop bag. When in use are very sturdy on both the plug and receiving side. Recommended!
Good
Not the sturdiest adapter, but does the job. Both of them work fine and they’re very compact so it’s easy to carry around when travelling. Not much else to say, it does exactly what it says so 5 stars.
They do the job well
These help a lot when I travel back home and I want to have my own chargers with me. They fold easily, and don’t take a lot of space in the luggage. I don’t use them regularly, so I can’t vouch for the plastic that’s holding the pins, but they’re fit for purpose overall.
Compact and flat when folded
Just what I was looking for after discovering a couple of holes in my ‘IT stuff’ pouch for trips, due to adapter pins sticking out.
When folded the adapters fit nicely in a laptop bag, backpack or small suitcase without having to worry about damaging anything. If a dedicated small felt pouch was included would have been nice though.
As a folding design, I’m a bit concerned about the durability of the hinged point and would only be comfortable using these for low & medium power rated IT and Comms equipment e.g. notebook, mobile phones etc. and NOT for high power appliances such as toasters and hair dryers.
Holiday essentials
Travelling comes with its issues one of which is getting your gadgets to work when abroad and that is when you need adapters. These adapters do the job really well and having folding prongs is a massive plus as it makes them very travel friendly. My only criticism is the prongs do not feel sturdy, I have had no issue with them and they may be stronger than they feel.
As travel adapters go I can definitely recommend these for the European trips.
Perfect for the light travelle
These are fantastic for light travellers. I never take anything on a trip that I can’t carry with me on the plane in one rucksack. Partly for reducing any risk of loss of stuff, mostly because I walk and hike and move about for several weeks out of the time never sleeping in the same place more than a night.
Anyway the above is important to this review because every gram of weight and cubic centimetre of space in my bag is precious. Since these fold up they take roughly half the volume in my bag than a typical cheap adaptor would. That alone is worth the price, and you get two of these which is not bad. So now we have a “his and her” kit for any holidays we go on together.
Perfect Adapters
What can I say? – they work perfectly and they fold up neatly (unlike the adapters I have been using on foreign holidays all my life, which have always irritated me because of the prongs sticking out).
Oh, and they do stick out quite a lot from the wall when plugged in, which makes it easier to unplug them.

Folding style excellent.
Having managed to break the pins off various adaptors in the past when packed into a travel case I was delighted to see these folding, pack away adaptors .
It remains to be seen whether the pins survive numerous folding/unfolding but, at the moment, an excellent item.
At £4.23, these are good value

The folding prongs mean that they take up less space in your packing. Once unfolded, the prongs extend quite a long way which will help if you encounter any deep recessed EU sockets

These are a great idea – by making the 2-pins foldable, this adapter makes itself even smaller. That means less tangling up with clothes in a carry on bag – and they are even small enough to fit in a jacket pocket or a handbag.
I have never heard of the “Chiefox” brand, but they work perfectly well. When I tried mine out there were no sparks, buzzing or getting hot to suggest the connections are loose despite the folding design.
At the current Amazon price of 4.50 each , they are way cheaper than buying at the airport.
For low power, unearthed devices such as my phone and tablet computer charger, I reckon these are a good buy because of their size and portability without the pins sticking out.
For my big laptop and the hair dryer I would still prefer the “Jsdoin EU Travel Adapter, UK to European Plug Adapter” which cost only 2.25 each in a 2-pack on Amazon UK, as those are not only cheaper – but they have a neat way of getting the earth pin on the UK plug to contact the earth terminal on French plugs that will increase safety for those higher power applications.
So I’m just back from my small holiday to Europe.Bought these adapters for my phone charger and my wife’s stuff.Works perfect, doesn’t take space in luggage,what for me is very important.So definitely worth it.
Very handy portable, lightweight little plugs
At a little over 4 quid each these are a great addition to your travel necessities and in my mind a no brainer. I have given these 4.5 stars in my head, rounded down to four here. They do what they promise and they seem to be well made. If they had a cheap case to go with them to keep them together then they would get 5 stars.
In the way they work they are simple. The European two pins fold back neatly into the body of the plug, therefore keeping it square and simple smart lines. Nothing sharp pointing out that will rip into closes in your suitcase. Once the plug is unfolded simply plug it into the wall socket and you then have a UK plug ready to use.
The plastic they are made of looks, to my untrained eye, to be of good quailty. I will update over longer term use..
