These fittings are actually better than the fittings that were supplied with my roof box.
Very easy to use with quality being beyond great.

I now use these rather than the oem supplied.

Highly recommend and a proper bargain price.

We have been looking for something like this to fit our new car for some time, so jumped at this set when I had the opportunity. We have been able to fit our roof box for the first time in years. I love my roof box for camping and beach holidays, makes like so much easier and now that we have these, we can use it once again. They are a bit fiddly to fit (according to the husband) but between him and our son in law they managed it. Cannot wait for summe

I have a cage based rack on my van and needed some brackets to feed under the cage to clamp items to my roof.

    These have worked well.

I’m heading to the motorways this summer and I think I can relax. My items will be secure!

Mounting a roof box for extra storage on trips has always been a task I approached with caution. This kit provided the necessary components for a secure installation, which was reassuring. The quality of materials gave me confidence in the stability and longevity of the setup. Compatibility with various car models was a highlight, though checking dimensions beforehand remains crucial. The installation process was less intimidating than anticipated, and the protective elements included showed thoughtfulness towards maintaining the vehicle’s condition. While practical and effective, a more innovative design could improve ease of use and aesthetic integration with the vehicle.

Everything you need to fix a roof box to your Aero style roof bars for under 20. Very good quality too, including the plastic sections that fit internally.
NOTE: you will need roof bars as well as the side rails as these fix to the bars themselves (not to the rails).
Fit perfectly on my Freelander 2.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't fault these - and fit perfectly on my Land Rove

2 included luggage straps to secure the load inside your roof box, Mounting clamps with hooks inside the box so that extra straps/bungees can be used, large plastic grips on the clamp nuts so that tools are not needed is useful and rubberised coating on the clamps to prevent corrosion is a nice touch.

The fitting kit made mounting my roof box much simpler than anticipated. The materials felt sturdy, promising a secure attachment to my car. Installation was quick, requiring minimal tools and effort. The u-bolts fit perfectly, though I took extra care to not over-tighten and risk damaging the car’s roof. The locking nuts ensured the box stayed put, even on rough terrain. However, I noticed slight rusting on the bolts after a few months, questioning the long-term durability. The rubber washers and ABS plates effectively protected my vehicle’s finish, a detail I greatly appreciated.

I have compared in the photo our current fittings and these. There are some pro/cons as can be seen.

Firstly the U shape is different. These fittings are for some reason not bent exactly right and need a little squeeze to fit. They have a black plastic which is better than mine and a slight bend to the base of the U which is better. However, they really would be better a few mm longer, similar to my existing ones.

My roof box has some fittings already which are not yet broken. The new ones could be used in place if needed although they are a few mm too wide to fit exactly.

They have a good arrangement and provision of straps, better than my old ones which I already had to throw away and replace.

Perhaps the most useful feature is the large screws. On my existing these are small and hard on the fingers to tighten and untighten while balancing across the top of my car on the seats. I tried these out and they were much more usable.

So in short, although in my case, I will not be throwing out my old fittings, this kit however should provide greater life for my roof box (350 approx. when new) and replacement for any missing element. Given the cost of the kit is relatively low and it is better than the original manufacturer’s fittings its certainly worth considering.

4.0 out of 5 stars We made and substantial fittings but not universal so check

25 years ago I bought a Halfords roof box but over the years the fixing kit has slowly broken apart. Can you buy replacements for less than the price of a new roof box?? Indeed you can – this universal kit is just perfect. Thick, sturdy steel u clamps with large, easy to do up plastic coated knobs and luggage straps to hold anythign loose down inside the box. Each steel clamp is painted with a high quality black paint finish and looks like it would fit any car roof bar (I have a Citroen C4 and it is perfect for mine). A great way to make your old roof box like new again and stop you hating trying to mount it once the plastic furls have broken off the original clamps. Can’t wait for summer to try it properly.

I have an old BMW Mini-branded roofbox, originally produced by Thule.

This came with T-track bolts only, that only fit BMW official bars. I’ve changed out to a VW Tiguan.

I’ve bought the Thule conversion kit at great expense (20mm x 27mm T track bolts) but wanted to try an alternative in case we use the box with another car.

This kit is priced favourably in comparison to the one available from the out of town motoring retail store.

In comparison, these are clearly aimed at ‘aerobar’ style roof bars, and have a notch towards the front of the bracket (though can still be used with square bars or other bars).

I’ve struggled with the sizing and holding a tape measure against them. They’re billed at 90mm, bolt centre to bolt centre, but the bolts aren’t a true U shape and are more like a wide V. You may need to take a file to your roof box depending on the spacing of the existing cut outs. Thule’s kits come as 45mm or 80mm U bolt spacing – so if you’ve got the former, so long as you’ve got a run of 3 holes you should get your 90mm.

In the kit you get 8 wheel heads, 4 bolts, 4 rubbers, and a handy set of stickers to cover any unused cutouts on the bottom of your roofbox.

So, check and check measurements again, and be wary of the non-U shape, but otherwise, worth a look.
