A good value Shredding Machine
It is easy to use and you can pre-fit a bin bag to capture the shredded paper. Its only draw back is that with the bin bag fitted it can be difficult to fully shut the drawer witch inhibits the operation of the machine sometimes
Great bit of ki
I had a stack at least over 3 feet of paper work I needed to shred for GDPR due to my job it had to be shredded, my last shredder was simple not up to the job , this wizzed through my back log of shredding in a few hours , the 100 sheets feature is a great time saver , I was so impressed I sent the link for this product to all my colleagues who like me have the mundain task of shredding documents at home , now after a days work I can put it all the days work in this shredder in one go instead of feeding 5 or 6 sheets through like my last one , wish I had bought this years ago , great time saver , and well worth the money
Does the job
Been using for a good few weeks now, works a treat, have done several box loads of old paperwork.. not too noisy and can handle quite a good few sheets of thicker quality paper at the same time
only if it lasts ,time will tell
easonably quiet
14 pages @ a time it says ,never gone beyond 3
Too early to give a review about RELIABILITY
Time will tell
Why dont these reviews send these questions 6 or 12 months late
basically works
Appears easy to use but is temperamental. I found that putting the maixmum 100 sheets in the feeder is too heavy, so confined further use to a max of 50. Even then, the mechanism that pulls in the individual sheets works well for several sheets but then gets greedy and attempts to pull in the lot, which of course jams and needs quite a bit of effort to pull out the jammed papers which by now have got welded together at the cutting edge. These then have to be separated and fed in manually one at a time. There is mention of Maintenance sheets needed but not of how to get them or how oftn they should be used. Otherwise good!
WOW what a great machine
I’ve used different machines over the years but this has to be one of the best units i’ve used in years.
100% happy with the unit. Normally they are so loud you have to wait for them to finish running before you can talk to someone but with this unit not an issue.
100% happy with this. GET ONE you will not regret it.
Robust and easy to use
I am generally happy with this item. The autofeeder mechanism seems a bit flimsy, and I certainly wouldn’t want to load 100 sheets! But it copes well with batched papers. I love the ease of use, and the used paper hopper is quick and easy to remove and empty.
I am really overwhelmed with this shredder what a great machine, it simply cuts up extra fine, and compacts the paper, and has a really large bin, that comes out great to empty, and holds loads of fine paper. It’s so quiet when it cuts, and cuts up cardboard so this get recycled with the paper, I am pleased I bought this shredder, I’ve had shredders before but they have no comparison with the Bonsii shredder. Thank you for a lovely shredder. Paul Stacey, Brighton, Sussex.
Good value for the price.
I bought this shredder as apart from an “Auto” feature it also has a manual “On” setting when you want to shred. My previous shredder only had an “Auto” setting and when this stopped working the shredder was useless !
Surprised at what a power house this shredder is
Does the job well – the A4 sheet feeder is a bit hit and miss, and if you are after bulk unattended shredding of A4 there are better (but more expensive) shredders out there. I bought this to replace such a shredder (couldn’t afford the few hundred extra it would cost to replace old shredder with its current model), and had a shredding party – the shredder works well, shutting down after about 20 to 30 minutes of shredding to cool down – as per the specification – giving me the opportunity to arrange my next pile of paper to shred. The unit closes up neatly and the wheels make it easy to pop it under the desk.
It does a great job
This is the 3rd shredder I have bought in 10 years, but the first cross cutter one. It is efficient, sturdy and does a good job. It could do with a proper carry handle and to be less noisy but apart from that I would recommend it.
Very good shredder.
Does the job requirement no problem, as long as you follow the recommendations in the instruction manual. It also let’s you know when the motor needs to cool down by means of an led light. Still working and we’d recommend this one if you’re considering buying a shredder.
fantastic quality and compac
Great little cross shredder, it is compact, not overly noisy and feels well made. includes bin storage and has auto mode, reverse and forward. There is a power indicator light for safety and finally a small wonder to see the capacity.
Turns private info. into tiny bits of paper. Like the fact the handle makes it easy to lift the top of the shredder away from the collection box and that the motor will stop immediately, if on. It is a little loud and can get blocked up in the cutters, so recommend using oil sheet conditioners.
Handle only lifts the motor NOT the tub
Good machine for minimal home use, good for shredding statements and bank cards etc. Only disapoinmtent is when lifting by handle it only lifts top motor section not the whole appliance
Great shredder and efficient after-sales service
I enjoyed this shredder being crosscut which is very good given the price. Unfortunately, after 5 months it started to cause some issues. I reached out to the manufacturer and after exchanging the cause and the reasons, they were exceptionally prompt in replacing the machine. I thought it was very efficient customer service (Sharon) and I would not hesitate in recommending them.
Looks sturdy and operates well
I have only used this once by testing it since receiving it today. It appears sturdy and looking at various other shredders, this model seemed to fit my needs for home use. It is certainly better than the one that has just left me to go to the big shredder heaven in the sky. I like the light which shows power is on and also the red light to show overheating (although it has not been on yet). Fingers crossed it will continue to serve well.
Does what it says, shreds 8 sheets of 80grm
Read reviews which were mixed. However reviews of other shredders very mixed and this seemed good value and not bothered if it would not shred 8 sheets. Have tried it with 8 sheets of 80grm paper and it managed it. Have shredded bank cards, staples all with no problem. Would recommend
I read other people’s reviews before deciding to purchase this particular shredder. I was encouraged by the fairly universal delight expressed by other purchasers. I now share in that. I just wish I’d bought it sooner. It is just so much better than my old Rexel shredder that was forever needing to cool down and which seemed to have developed a reducing capacity over the years. This machine eats its way through a whole lever arch file in next to no time. I feel able finally to have that clear out that has long been needed. Yes, it costs more but the time saved and the ease of getting the job done is worth every penny. Life’s too short to be spending hours feeding an old, slow, and cantankerous shredder.
Does what it says, shreds everything very finely and feels very sturdy however machine is on the heavy side. Try not to overload more than 6 plys. Also can only do one credit card at a time. Perhaps its normal for high decibel levels when it comes to these machines however I was taken aback by how loud it was, so loud in fact that my girlfriend thought I was doing DIY from the next room.
Sturdy and heavy duty paper shredde
I chose this shredder as I liked the ‘handle’ aspect of it. It is sturdy and does a good job. On the negative front, I find it a bit too noisy and the noise continues after the shredding is done. I would recommend it though as it is sturdy and does the job.
I had looked for a shredder for a few days on Amazon and elsewhere but couldn’t decide as so many were given negative reviews- I had seen this one but kept being put off by certain negative comments. In the end I decided to purchase this shredder and I’m so glad I did! I have accumulated a lot of bank letters/ statements and general personal information in letters that I wanted to dispose of safely. I had over four huge bags of it! Well this shredder has destroyed it! Two bags already gone in the matter of half an hour. I did one bag and then let the shredder cool down and then did the next bag. My old shredder was a nightmare and would clog up so easily but this one is fantastic! Honestly I’m so happy I purchased it. Thank you Bonsaii 🙂
Takes time to cool down if it overheats which can be frustrating
Overall a good shredder – does the job well. When it gets used a lot it will cut out as it overheats and then takes ages to cool down. Not great if you want to shred a lot of paper in one go. However, on the whole good value for money.
I’m using this to shred, old personal statements, letters and other sensitive material.
It arrived in a box of diminutive size roughly
35cm high, 19.5 depth and 31.5cm.
Have tried it with 6 sheets at a time and 30 odd pieces to shred, it did it effortlessly.
After the last sheet it does run for a few seconds before stopping.
The bucket has a window to see the depth of paper inside, but it does fill up from that side.
The unit only fits on the bucket one way as it is shaped.
Seems sturdy, it is easy to use.
I put through an old bank card and it destroyed it effectively.
To operate just put it to auto, the other settings are really for paper jams.
Keep very small kids away though, better still unplug when not in use.
Definately much quieter than my other shredder . Quick and smooth, Ideal capacity for a small business that does quite a lot of shredding. I was a bit surprised it dd not have an automatic cut off when fingers get near. Ffor the price I would have though this should be included, as it was on my old one at half the price. My fault for not reading the documentation properly.
However all round a good piece of equipment.
Ok, so this is a nice product, I am very happy with this purchase. I like the compact size-fits well in my home office. It is well made. It is not quiet. It starts slowing down with about 5 sheets-did not try to feed more, no need. Did not notice it getting hot. The bucket fills after a session of shredding-I d say about 50 sheets, which is all I need. For house/small office, it is really fine.
I needed a new shredder to replace my old one that had lasted 14 years. This one does what it says it will do. I like the window that lets me see how the ‘shreddies’ are piling up so that I can empty before it is jammed full. I also like the handle that allows me to lift the shredder of the bin. Saves my finger nails when lifting to see how full the bin is or empty it as I had to do on m y old one. The only adverse thing I would mention is that – as someone else has mentioned – there seems to be a lot of grease at the sides of the cutters. Shredded paper did clog against these to begin with but this has now stopped with use.
Easy shredde
I like this shredder, because I have a lot of paper work to get through and it has served me well. The overheat button is displayed quicker than my older model shredde
So far I’m loving this shredder!
I love that it’s on wheels and moves around easily even on carpet.
I love that the paper drawer pulls out, no more lugging off the top section and it has a bag to catch all the bits which makes it even easier to empty. There are still bits that end up on the floor but I can cope with that.
It can take 7 sheets at a time, but I don’t push it, it might be a large shredder but it’s still a ‘home’ one, not built for industrial use, and I want it to last. I bought the oil to lubricate with, made the mistake of not doing that in the past, it really helps prolong the life and keep things from grinding to a halt (literally).
Finally, it’s the quietist shredder I’ve ever had!
Time will tell how robust it is and how it wears but as I’ve said, it’s a two way street.
Bought the 39.99 Bonsaii 8-Sheet Cross-Cut Paper Shredder (518mm) to replace my old and dead Fellowes one. Went for the 8-sheet as it cuts finer (518mm) than the 6-sheet (545mm).
Claims 4-minute continuous running time and 40 minutes cool-down time, but I managed over 30-minutes continuous on auto-feed by feeding lightly (no more than 3-pages) and letting the shredder clear before inserting new sheets. There’s a dramatic change in speed going over 3-pages a shred.
Was slightly concerned with reliability issues others reported, but bought Amazon’s 3-year product care which was on offer for 5.09, so pretty happy with that.
Also like the fact that it has a handle which my Fellowes never had. Makes lifting the lump of the shredding head and patting down the shredded paper mound a lot easier. Nice touch.
Edit: for those questioning if it can shred the number of sheets claimed at once – there’s a video for the Bonsaii 18-sheet shredder on Amazon, and instead of showing 18-sheets being done at once, the sheets are fed in overlapped, one after the other, so that maybe a thickness of 3 or 4 sheets at any one time are being shredded.
Incredibly satisfied with this shredder, it goes through paper and cardboard (even quite stiff one) like butter, might slow down on the heaviest stuff but it has never even overheated on me, let alone gone into protection mode. A bit loud, especially when it runs idle at the end of an automatically triggered run, but I guess that’s to be expected. My only tiny, TINY quibble is that there’s no way to lock the main unit to the container: when you lift from the handle you’re only lifting the motor, the container stays behind. Therefore, the only way to move the whole shredder is to grab it from the container itself, not through the handle. But for a machine that I’d expect to stay put 99.9% of the time that’s not really an issue.
The shredder does an excellent job of cutting the paper so it cannot be read. However be aware of the quality of paper you are shredding, copier paper and thinner it has no trouble with, anything of a higher quality and yo car down to two sheets at a time. It will overheat if you exceed the time or are continuous for more than four minutes. All in all a good shredder.
Excellent performance
This shredder was purchased to replace one which had given up the ghost, probably due to over use. The present shredder performs very efficiently, the only minus is it’s more noisy than my previous one but otherwise excellent performance with low cos
Great value home office equipment, used to rid yourself of all those unwanted papers ,shreds to a very small pieces ,no more destapling as it chews them too.
Says it will shred 8 pieces at a time, but I just usually do around 6,quit large container that holds alot of the shreddings, this when emptied half fills a large pedal bin bag.
We’ve had quite a few shredders, and our last one had an oval wire basket which always seemed to allow fragments to escape meaning you had to vacuum after using it. It also jammed on a regular basis. We looked at the reviews for this make with a 6 page feed, and reasoned that the 8 page capacity one would surely be just as good but take more paper at one time. There didn’t seem to be anything between them on price when we bought it, so we plumped for this one.
It’s early days, but we’re very pleased so far. It’s reliable and has a compact plastic box to collect the shredded paper. This doesn’t leak like our old one, and the top has a handle to help with emptying. There have been no jams and although there is a light to warn of overheating, we haven’t seen that so far.
It’s more compact than our previous shredder, but is made for A4 sheets just the same. It’s probably because the box to collect the shreds is neater. It also has a handy window so you can see how full it is.
One thing to note when emptying is that if your hand touches underneath the shredder unit, you will find that it has been very well greased. That’s obviously a good thing, but just be wary of getting the grease all over you.
I already had a small shredder which said it took 6 sheets of paper but regularly blocked. So I bought this Bonsaii having read other reviews.
I am very pleased.
Now I can shred 10 – 12 sheets of paper at a time easily, although lots of paper shredding makes it stop to cool down after about 15 minutes.
However, the added bonus is that I can now shred cardboard as well. Who would have thought this could be so useful? I needed mulch for my allotment, and I now can shred all the brown cardboard that arrives in my house so that it is immediately ready to put round my plants.
I couldnt do THAT with my little flimsy shredder!
I was doubtful after reading so many reviews for numerous shredders, as many reviews reported the number of pages shredded are not correct or the shredders overheat. This one seems to be a good buy. The weight of the shredder is really heavy in a good way, i.e. a feel of good quality and a sufficient motor. The shredder shreds perfectly well with 2–4 sheets so far. Even tried a credit card, which was no problem at all. I would expect shredders will jam and overheat if forced and continuously fed. Who shreds wads of paper continuously anyway?
Compact Shredde
This compact shredder has good visible controls with various settings with a convenient handle to remove the top to empty. The window in the waste basket is excellent showing how full it is and has excellent cross shredding. The down side is it is extremely noisy although idea for just home use.
I’m very pleased with this paper shredder. It is a great fit for a small business or home office where you need to securely dispose of client, financial, or other confidential documents. I received it today and have shredded a couple of hundred pages. It churned through them readily and had no problem handling 14 sheets (with staples) at once.
My old shredder handled only a few pages at once and was constantly jamming. This one is a joy in comparison.
Pros:
– Easily handles the specified 14 sheets (of my printer paper)
– Shreds securely into 4mm x 10mm bits
– Worked fairly continuously 200+ sheets without overheating, jamming, or stalling
– Moderate noise level
– Pull-out bin has hooks for plastic bag and easy removal
– Fits comfortably under a desk and is easy to roll out on its casters
Cons:
– None
– Removing the bin is a bit stiff
– The ‘off/standby’ position is weirdly labeled ‘blank’
This pretty much speaks for itself. It does what is supposed to do. The amount of sheets you can put in at a time is very limited and would be my only criticism, but it hasn’t overheated on me or stopped working with me having to wait for it to chill down and I used it for now than 30 mins at a time. It’s sheds perfectly and I cannot complain about anything else. The bin is also easy to empty. I previously had a sheet where the agreed parody got stuck to the top of the shredder but that doesn’t happen with this shredder.
