Comfy, grippy, premium quality
The product sits great in my hands, feels just the right amount of bulk, switch slides in with a satisfying click of the locking pins on the sides, there is no signs of cosmetic damage on the device from sliding it in and out. Button layout is great, buttons are chunky and the d-pad feels amazing, reminds me of the firmness on 8bitdo controllers. In terms of the left analog stick being too low, the issue has some merit it could be slightly higher as reaching the triggers and aiming at the same time takes some getting used to. I noticed I have been using the back pedal buttons for trigger related presses after reprogramming them to R and ZR. I absolutely love this item, and it makes playing games like Zelda BoTW and ToTK an absolute pleasure, Dragon Dogma 1. Feels great as well. Highly recommended. If the low left stick position makes you worried, the upgraded + version is out in April, with new left stick position, will Deffinitley pick one up and give my old one away to a friend…
To purchase or not?
Let me start off by stating this device is well built, comfortable and looks stunning.
My only real issue is the positioning of the right sided analog stick. In short, it makes aiming difficult when playing FPS games, an issue raised by others too.
Works better than joycons!
After purchasing several sets of joycons to combat the inevitable stick drift, I decided to look at alternatives for my Switch. I kept seeing ads across my social media on the new Nitro Deck and thought I may as well give it a go, and my god what a difference! I already have a Steam deck so I’m already familiar with the shape/grip of the unit, but the instant difference when using the controls is amazing. I would have been satisfied with just the latency shift alone however the Deck also comes with loads of great features – to think you get all those extras AND I would be paying around the same price for new joycons anyway. Great product, really glad I got this and would highly recommend!
So much more comfortable and improved the whole experience
Reading the reviews i was a bit worried about it pairing to my Switch. I’m glad i took the risk because it was so simple to plug and play and has been a joy to play with ever since. Makes the Switch feel more like a proper game controller and gives me better control over the gameplay. The Nitro deck also makes the switch so much more comfortable to play with because of the design, button lay out and larger thumb sticks. overall i am really happy i upgraded my switch with the deck which has given new life to my favourite games.
Made my Childs Christmas
Bought for our son for Christmas and was the best decision we made, he is instantly able to hold his pad much better thanks to the ergonomic design and we are now worry free of complaints about stick drift thanks to those clever sensors, happy child, happy parents 🙂
The real deal
The Nitro Deck is a great piece of kit.
I’m using the Nitro Deck with my OLED Switch.
I found the Nitro Deck super comfortable to hold and use, as well as being responsive.
The True Collection System is a cool feature too.
This is a great accessory for the Switch. I am using it with an Oled switch, adds grip and makes it a lot more comfortable to use. The button placement is great and the buttons feel great. The only thing I would mention is the right stick, the stick feel great to use but the right hand stick may in an odd position for some people, it is places directly under the buttons, I find it great to use but it did take some time to get used to.
