My wife put this together using the online tutorial. The hardest part seems using the heat gun to remove the screen & using the tools to pry it apart. So be careful not to tear the ribbon on the right side underneath the screen. You’ll probably need thermal paste too, to reattach the gpu/cpu during the process. It feels nice, lighter than the original case and more smooth, so it decreases your gripping power over the handheld. The buttons are nice & clicky. Overall the process took about 2 hours start to finish. All in all, very happy to have a unique Steam Deck when playing together with her.
This was made for the regular steam deck and not the oled, the bumpers are not right and wont fit. It feels kind of rough, similar to the texture of ibuprofen. Not a fan of the feel over the original but liked the color enough to switch out the dpad and some other buttons. Track pad and back buttons are staying the same however. The color is much more pale than i wanted but its pink enough that its alright. Feels kind of expensive for the quality. The face buttons are indented and can accrue gunk very easily.
I got myself a new steam oled and really wanted to check what parts would fit and what would not. I am happy to say that most part fit just a normal and looks great and functions just normal and feels just as the original, check out my pictures.
What doesn’t fit are the bumpers at the back, very different so that means any of the backshell will also not fit. The trackpads also don’t fit completely different and also the RB and LB triggers.
Overall a great product, high quality, can’t wait for them to start releasing the oled versions so I can complete it, but am happy.
These where very easy to install and feel great! Look great aswell I bought a blue case to go around my deck and looks great couldn’t be more happy with these buttons. I didn’t install the new track pad covers as I really didn’t feel comfortable removing them from it.
The buttons look and feel good. Installation is not for the inexperienced. The system is easily broken if you make the wrong move. In order to replace all buttons, complete dissassembly is required. Except screen. This project is better when thrown in along side of a sheet replacement. Kill 2 birds with one stone so to speak.
At one point I was in fear of never being able to put my deck back together, but in the end, the new buttons are in and its functioning as it should. I also would like to say that the touchpad covers are extremely difficult to take off and i broke my originals while swapping them out. even after heating with a blowdryer. Take caution.
The texture and finish to these buttons are really nice and I like being able to feel the impressions in the ABXY buttons. All of the pieces were aligned properly and fit as expected, with the back buttons as the exception.
Honestly, those back buttons are the biggest disappointment because they don’t fit the original shell and feels like a waste of money for those of us that didn’t want to replace the default exterior.
The installation process is nearly identical to a full shell swap due to needing to disassemble the entire device to access some of the buttons. Be prepared for several hours of work.
Do your research before getting to work. As long as you know what you’re getting into, I think anyone would be happy with these.
What else can I say? I quite like the buttons. Slight caveat is the B button sometimes feels like it sticks however, that is most likely user error from installation. I don’t know, works enough that it’s not worth taking it all apart to try again great product I like it!
Got the red to go with my pink shell (also from extremeRate). Can’t speak on the difficulty of installing just the buttons, as I did the shell and buttons in one go. But the quality is great. They fit perfect and don’t stick/get caught on the shell at all. They feel good to press too.
Die Austauschbuttons fhlen sich gut an, meiner Meinung nach besser als die originalen.
Der Austausch der vorderen Buttons ist ohne Probleme mglich, die Paddles auf der Rckseite passen mit der originalen Hlle nicht. Das finde ich persnlich nicht ganz so gut. Bei dem Preis, aktuell knapp 20, msste man noch zustzlich eine Hlle vom gleichen Hersteller kaufen, um alle Teile dieses Sets nutzen zu knnen. Deshalb nur” vier Sterne. Wren die alle mit dem originalen SteamDeck Gehuse kompatibel, gbe es die volle Anzahl Sterne. So fhlt man sich irgendwie angefixt an und wird zum weiteren Kauf verleitet, nur damit alles einheitlich ist.
These buttons look really cool once installed on the deck.
The colour is really eye catching and offsets from the OG steamdeck colour really well.
Installation was fairly easy following an online tutorial.
Note the back buttons are not compatible with the standard case, you’ll need to purchase the matching case, but all others are a straight swap.
Die Tasten haben eine gute Qualitt und sehen ansprechend aus. Am besten sind sie in Kombination mit einem Gehuse frs Steam Deck vom selben Hersteller, weil sich die Tasten auf der Rckseite vom Gert sonst nicht tauschen lassen. Bei besagtem Gehuse sind an sich auch bereits Tasten dabei, aber fr etwas mehr Kontrast oder schneren Farbkombinationen muss man Knpfe in abweichenden Farben extra kaufen. Ich finde ein transparentes, schwarzes Gehuse und weie Tasten in der Kombination sehr schn. Es ist super, dass neben den Tasten auch etliche Schrauben als Ersatzteile mitgeliefert werden.
If you own a steam deck this kit is a must have if you want to make your deck look better, my advice before purchasing is please watch the tutorials first to see if your confident enough to do it as it is a long process and if you have never stripped down a deck i would research first as its a long process. it took me an hour to do and my deck looks great now. button quality is brilliant and the replacement touchpads work like the original
I have been using eXtremeRate buttons and cases for years on many of my modified controllers (Xbox One, PS4, PS5 and Switch) so i figured I would try a set of thier buttons out on my SteamDeck and as usual they are great.
I only installed the D-Pad, ABXY, R1/R2, L1/L2 but I do like the look and feel of them so far. I recieved the clear buttons and I like to overall look of them.
I did not install the track pad caps as once you install them on the sensor they basically just turn black again because of the adhesive so I did not use them.
Overall these buttons are a cool upgrade to the standard buttons, they come in multiple colors and they feel like a premium product so I highly recommend then if your looking to customize your SteamDeck!
I got a atomic purple case and wanted to get a different colour for the physical buttons. These are the same that are contained in the whole shell replacement kit, so the fit is perfect.
I recommend watching youtube tutorial to install these, some parts do not require removal.
The buttons are excellent quality, though they are blank and unmarked for the marked items (Steam, settings , menu and window buttons). The trigger and XYAB buttons are all labeled by the physical buttons moulding.
Overall, the set is as expected. No complaints, other than the extremely time heavy process.
