Works well on my MG5, as described. Nice that you can set charger to a lower Amp if you make up converter leads to use on different ( smaller) sockets 16 to 32, 13 to 32 amp.
Set to 10 amps the unit charges at about 8.6. I don’t envisage using this cable for a long charging cycle as I believe the plug and socket would get too hot. I’m less than half a mile from a Pod Point at Tesco so charging would be done there before a long journey. This cable is useful for top-ups at home in an on-street parking environment.
The longest charge at home so far has been 3 hours but the pins of the 13amp plug were very hot.
Simple to use and the unit remembers the setting so doesn’t need to be reset each time.
One of those rare occasions that the product meets our excess expectations. It is obviously very well made and very robust. I have used it for the last few weeks or so now and I am very pleased with it. It was relatively easy to set up and use and I think the variable charge set- up is really good to have. I have a PHEV and don’t need the maximum power facility and was able to dial down the power output to suit. As a result, I can make sure nothing is warm or hot during usage.
Easy to use,13amp plug got a little warm on first use at 13 amps, reduce to 10 and all was fine.
Also used an extension lead with rcd and thermal cutout.
It will allow me to charge at home until charge point installed in the future.
This feels like a good quality product.
Comes with standard 3 pin plug for home socket power supply.
8m long cable so no extension cables needed.
Multiple power settings but I found that using the highest setting (13A) results in the unit becoming hot to touch. Would recommend using 8A to avoid the unit becoming hot.
Comes with a handy carry case which is great for storage.
Clear display and easy to change power setting.
No configuration needed. Simply plug and charge.
Used this to charge my Kia E-Niro 2. No problems encountered at all.
Great value.
What a fantastic piece of equipment. Much needed and I am so glad that we went with this one.
Good quality, easy to use, well designed and what else can I say thats describes something that is bang on the nail? oh yeah it is bang on the nail.
A fantastic charger, fast and efficient.
This EV charger is a good quality product with a substantial build quality and resilient feel. It worked out of the box with our Kia Niro EV – I was able to plug it straight into a standard wall socket and then into the car, with no configuration required. It comes with nice quality carry case. The unit itself has a clear display that is easy to understand. The charge time is as expected. Very pleased with this robust item, pity the car didn’t include one!
I am not an expert in EV but this car charger ticks all boxes I needed. First of all it priced fairly and fits in my budget. It got standard 3 pin plug which can be plugged in anywhere for charging. Biggest plus is that it got 8m long lead which gives lots of flexibility. Overall happy with it.
I read all the reviews and decided to purchase and I am not disappointed.the 8m cable is great and I have charged at 10am and 13 amp although it got quite hot on 13 amp so will probably use at 8 or 10 amp. I set my car up to start charging at 11pm as I have a cheaper rate from 11pm to 5am at 9 POKW hour which gives it a decent charge.
I sometimes borrow my father in law’s EQS Mercedes Benz electric car. this charger works well with it and doesn’t dissappoint. in our case the socket plug is quite far so another 2 m cable lenght would have been great but 8m it is still decent. it comes with a bag to carry it, or put it away. the cable is thick so feels safe and over all it works grea
Absolutely essential if you’re a full electric car user. If you plan on travelling anywhere you can’t be without one of these. Easy to use, robust and thankfully easy to pack away in the boot. The connector is super tough and built to last, the cable thick and protected. 8 metres of cable to play with is great news and no edging the car up to the wall to get close enough to reach. For the money I think it’s good value as it’s going to be such a life saver when needed. At the moment with fluctuations in electric prices and off peak times it would be nice to have a delay timer to take advantage of cheaper leccy through the night. Of course you could attach a cheap timer too and do it that way. Like the way it cooks back up and goes back in it’s bag to protect it and obviously makes it easier to carry.
At home we usually charge the Ampera (Type 1) with the Wall box but when we visit relatives or staying at location with out EV charger we use this (Granny) charger. It is a plug and play charger and there is only 1 button to cycle through the charging power or 6/8/10/13A. This is very important to me as I don’t want granny EV charger to burn out and cause fire etc. Even though it is rated 13A for most wall socket but they are not rated for a long and continuous draw of 13A overnight.
We leave it on 10A and charge our car overnight, it does get warm but not hot to touch on the charger, lead and the wall 3 pin plug. Nice and bright display to show house main voltage and charging status, can be seen in the dark easily.
The cable from the wall socket to the main charging unit is really short and most likely it will be hanging close to our socket but away from the floor. It may withstand the truck roll over but there is no point of testing it in real life.
Discharger cable comes in a small round carrier bag that is held closed with a zip keeping everything inside nice and organized until it is needed to be used. This bag is also very convenient to carry around or keeping the boot for when it is needed.
Straight out of the bag The wire feels like a really good quality. It is a decent length so it gives you plenty of room for charging whilst using the wire.
It works very well and it’s very convenient to travel around with in case of emergency.
Amazing fast charging portable EV charger with up to 3.3kW power, with an intelligent chip to monitor the charging status. It stops automatically when fully charged or the charging condition is faulty and restores the charging state when the condition is normal. Comes with a bag for easy storage and transport. Definitively recommend!
This FNRIDS Portable EV Charger looks and feels well made. It has a long charging lead which is really useful, it’s waterproof and dust proof. It has a rubber cover over the Type 2 port and a UK 3 pin plug. It comes in a neat, round carry case which makes it easy to take with you when traveling. A really nice feature is that you can switch the current which I’ve not seen before. Personally I use 10amp and charge over night. It has a good clear display. It’s a good quality charger.
