Gives a high quality of sound, works with Amazon music which some don’t because of the full use of Google play store. So you can download any apps. Perfect for wired earphones, not loud enough on Bluetooth.

I have acquired this DAP to enjoy my CD collection, I took on the task of recording them in lossless format (Flac, Wav, AAL etc.) there are about 300 CDs. I was excited because my big bet was that I could take them and listen to them everywhere, my work, beach, gatherings of friends and family, camping and in the CAR, here it fails me, I enjoy music in my car, the car. It has an Android radio with a USB type A 2.0 connection and does not accept playback through Andoid Auto, because the Hiby does not have support for an Android Auto connection. I have tried everything, getting a switch that can transmit from Jack 3.5 to USB is not possible and connecting USB C to USB A is also not possible (the radio accepts music playback from USB or portable drive). I want to take advantage of all the sound of this device and I have done so. I have no complaints about the sound other than the instability of the Android system. It seems like a good piece of equipment to me, it only overheated once and shut down. If any of you know how to connect this to an Android radio with USB streaming I would appreciate it.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI almost returned R6 III after playing around with it on the A Class Amplifier mode. It got crazy hot and actually became unresponsive. But it works flawlessly on the AB mode, and the sound is excellent, so I decided to keep it. I found the native Hiby app a little wonky, so I downloaded the Fiio Music app which is very similar, but works better. It’s a lot of money for just a music player in 2023, sure, but I care about the jump in sound quality enough over my phone to justify the expense. I haven’t tried the $1000-plus players, but this is the best player I’ve heard. Overall, if sound quality is something you care about, the Hiby R6 III is worth the money. I’m loving listening to my music on this thing.

Geluid is normaal of neutraal. Een portable digital audio player DAC is de geluid veel beter. ik zal dit zeggen: zelfs als je geen DAC “nodig” hebt, heb je deze DAC NODIG. Het is fantastisch. Sterk aanbevolen!

it has the option of class A or class A B IN TRUTH THERE IS A SMALL IMPROVEMENT at the expense of battery life . two screen protectors fitted and a spare,.

clear protective cover included it would be better with a total cover

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersDO NOT RETURN THIS DAP!! I must confess after my first day with the Hiby R6 III, I was ready to return it, but I remembered a couple of reviewers saying they also thought it didn’t sound too good the first couple of times they tried it. I found when played without the Equalizer or the Hiby MSEB application, the sound was boring with a narrow soundstage and a thin sounding reproduction of my music. But I found that to be the same on the other two Dap’s that I own, the Shanling M6 Ultra and the Astel and Kerns Kahn Alpha. So, the first thing I did with all 3 DAP’S, was alter the sound to my taste with the equalizer settings. I found it was easy adjust the sound to my taste with the M6 Ultra and the Kahn Alpha.

But, with my new Hiby, using their equalizer made the sound worse!! I couldn’t understand how Hiby could have such a poorly designed equalizer. Then I FIGURED IT OUT!!! To get the bass I wanted out of the Shangling and Astel and Kerns, I had to raise the levels almost to the highest setting. The Hiby’s equalizer is a completly different animal. They have the most bombastic equalizer I ever heard, and raising the bass just added gobs of disortion which made the unit unlistenable.

THEN I DISCOVERED THE HIBY SPECIAL SAUCE!!! It was indeed their equalizer. But instead of starting at zero and moving it upwards, I started halfway between the middle and bottom lines (-4.0) and worked my way up, and that starting place is the the special sauce. Now I have a excellent sounding DAP!!!! If you tune the equalizer in the same manner I just explained, I’m sure you’ll find your perfect sound. As to their MSEB application, I am still learning how to use it and will eventually improve my sound even more!!!
YOU WILL ENJOY THE HIBY R6 III AS I DO!!!!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWell my ipod finally died. Hard drive done battery kaput! So it was time to get a new DAP for the bustling around town and in the car! This time I wanted a Hi Res Audio player since I have so many Hi Res audio music files now.

I shopped and was seriously considering the Shangling M6 Ultra. 1080p screen, great size, bluetooth 5.2, equipped with the Octa Core Snapdragon 665 and runs android 10 which was good enough for me. But the price tag of over 800 bucks was a little off putting. Since this was my first Hi Res Audio player I didn’t want to spend over 500 bucks.

Then I found the HiBy R6 III. Bluetooth 5.2, gapless playback (which the Shanling does not have), Snapdragon 665, android 12, A and A/B built in amplifiers, and a slew of other features for 500 bucks! Perfect! My only gripe is the screen is 720 vs 1080p! But the screen is still plenty sharp and really colorful! Gets a little washed out in bright sunlight overall a excellent screen.

The sound is amazing! Sounds great with IEM headphones and in the car via bluetooth! Great soundstage, nice ambient sound, with concise highs and mids and great bass without being muddy at all! Of course you need a good/great set of headphones to take advantage! Do it you won’t regret it!

The UI is snappy with no lag and the Hiby music player is easy to use! Transferring files is a breeze and the battery life so far has been great!

Overall a great DAP!! I love it!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI really tried hard not to return this DAP. But, there must be a glitch in the dual DAC’s or something because the line-out interface has an overload problem. Is described as having .00005% +/- THD balanced or unbalanced. However, on this particular unit distortion is audible at mid volume mostly using line-out. The Soundstage is wide, clear, and immersive, comparable to the extinct Pioneer XDP300 and Onkyo DPX1 DAP’s. After 10 years I haven’t heard any other DAP’s that compare to them except this R6III and A&Norma SR25, not quite as good but really close. That’s why it’s so hard to return. But for $500 I can’t accept it. So…. my pursuit of DAP perfection will continue. I use 1more quad driver and JVC hafx99X IEM’s as well. Android OS has been glitchy too, loosing time and date settings and reverting back to 24hr time every time I power it up. It occasionally freezes temporarily, for example.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe sound of this remarkable player is truly superb. I recently bought a the Fiio FH9 IEMs and they match up so well. Audibly, I can’t tell one player from hi-end another really, at a certain pace point they all sound the same, so I would say make sure you read the audiophile reviews with a pinch of salt.

I never thought Android 12 would be as bad as it is. I come from the slick iPhone world, so I was surprised at how basic and illogical the navigation is to be honest. You don’t need to do much other than get your files onto a memory card and then use the Hiby audio player to browse for it, but trying to customise the UI was hard work indeed. Even putting an interesting image on the desktop was infuriating as hell!

Finally, be aware that FLAC files will really display how amazing this player is. Spotify, which I use all the time on my iPhone, sounds like tinny garbage!

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersIt is a very solid bit of kit, as big as my old Panasonic, bigger than the, Sony and heavier.
Hopefully some of the weight is in a big battery.
Not too much bloat ware to clear out.
    Downloaded Tidal and Amazon music.
Both sound great, but tidal through hiby’s great in house music app, about blew my ears off quality, clarity and slightly better volume than Android and the Govt restrictions normally allow.
I am happy but it comes at a price, apart from the cost of the player, I need to get new cans and balanced cables to play with all the features but its only about 5 haircuts for the wife and it will last longer, hopefully.
Just to add a month or so on, been away in Tenerife lots of updates to software, which have smoothed a couple of annoying features like time resetting, some crash issues, basically it works better now more consistently. I am a bit fed up with the memory it had a 1tb card in which should be ok but it keeps losing it and is filling the internal memory with stuff I want in the card. But it’s not too annoying yet, will try a different card when I can be bothered they are so small and fiddly for old farts fingers to manipulate.
    Still very good

The player has proved so far to be very capable. The player itself seemed to be well constructed, and the sound quality is very good, with a good range of options available in the software. The scrolling through the different programs and settings is very quick, especially if you are use to a android smart phone. The wireless connections to the headphones and speakers were very quick with no issues. Mainly listening to flac music files, and prime music through the app, wirelessly.

Golden Review Award: 33 From Our UsersThe HiBy R6 III Digital Audio Player with Hi- Res Audio is very Good from everything that I have tried and tested on the Digital Audio Player. Each side of HiBy R6 III Music Player is glass lined with a full-cover screen on one side and a sheet of rear glass with very good detail, and very good build quality. The overall Music quality performance of HiBy R6 Gen III Portable Audio Music Player is Nice and Audio is Clean, Music Sounds Really Pretty Good, there were no problems, no issues, no concerns from testing anything with music. Volume of HiBy R6 Gen III Portable Audio Music Player is Very Good on HiBy R6 III Digital Audio Player, it gets loud enough in volume. The Android 12 Chipset is fast and good, responsive. The 5″ inch Screen gets nice and bright, looks good. I have found that Streaming music is fast and good, there were NO hiccups, and NO lags with any Music Streaming Apps: Amazon HD Music, Deezer, Qobuz, Apple Music and Tidal. AND Yes, I tried it on all of the Music Streaming Apps because I was trying to find what was the BEST in audio quality. (My Favorite Apps were, Amazon HD Music, Qobuz, and Tidal.)

I have found that all types of Music Streaming I did on Amazon HD Music, Deezer, Qobuz, Apple Music and Tidal, played fine, smoothly and audio good without any problems. The HiBy R6 III Digital Audio Player Bass is Good, Clean and Deep on all types of Bluetooth Headphones, and Good on Wired Headphones. The HiBy R6 III Digital Audio Player Sound Quality is Clean, Decent, Good and Consistent on all types of any Headphones. Volume is good and consistent too. The Google Play Store App is very good, all types of the Music Apps I tried, and downloaded fast, good and all Apps installed, worked fine without any problems. Even the Headphones Apps like; Bowers & Wilkins Headphones App, Sennheiser Headphones App, Focal Headphones App, Philips Headphones App, Cleer Headphones App, Master & Dynamics Headphones App all worked fine on the HiBy R6 III Digital Hi-Res Audio Player. Wavelet, and The USB Audio Player PRO App works good too on the HiBy R6 III Digital Audio Player also.

The MSEB Equalizer does work well too in Hiby Music Player with Bluetooth Headphones also, but you have to use the Hiby Music Player App. One of the other real Good things that I noticed about the Music Player is the on board Hiby Music Player App, it has additional settings inside for the MSEB and also it has an additional 10 Band Equalizer that works with all of the Music that you Download on the Hiby Music Player. You can really adjust and customize the sound quality of music in many ways you like. The HiBy Music APP’s Equalizer, and MSEB works very well if you take time and try to adjust with your Music that you add to the HiBy R6 III Digital Audio Player, you have to test a lot of sound profiles/samples to find what you like best on the HiBy R6 III Digital Hi-Res Audio Player.

I tried listening to Music on a lot of Music Listening Devices: I have the LG V60 Phone, the LG V50 Phone, the Asus Zenfone 5Z Phone, the Samsung S9+ Phone, the Xiaomi 12 Phone, the Samsung S23 Ultra Phone. The Smartphones just do not sound as good as a Digital Audio Music Player. I tried the SHANLING M3X Music Player, and I tried the SHANLING M3 Ultra Music Player also, but I did not like other devices I tried, they sounded average with music. On the SHANLING M3 Ultra Music Player the 4.2 inch Screen is too small, and the Shanling Bass is not as Clean as on the HiBy R6 III Digital Hi-Res Audio Player. So I returned the SHANLING M3 Ultra Music Player for a refund. I also tried out the FiiO M11Plus Music Player, but I did not like the FiiO M11Plus Music Player, The problem with the FiiO M11Plus Music Player is that the “FiiO M11Plus Music Player Low Volume” would stay too LOW many times on any different music, the volume does not go high at all, and I ended up returning the FiiO M11Plus Music Player for a refund months ago.

The Reason to me is because HiBy R6 III Digital Hi-Res Audio Player, 3 Built in Audio Features that put HiBy R6 III Digital Hi-Res Audio Player above the rest of other Music Devices, and above Smartphone Devices. I have found that the HiBy R6 III Digital Hi-Res Audio Player has 2 Menus Settings of Audio Adjustment Features. One Menus is for Listening to Hi-Res Audio Music with Wired Headphones, and another Menu is for listening to Hi-Res Audio Wireless Music with Bluetooth Headphones on the Built in Hiby Music App. Then the Hiby Music Player has the 10 Band Equalizer if you choose to use it if you like. AND Hiby Music Player has the “MSEB” Equalizer for adjusting Music Quality. AND the Hiby R6 Gen III has the Plugins. AND the 4 Plugins is where I feel that the HiBy R6 III Digital Hi-Res Audio Player really shine. I do not use the 10 Band Equalizer because if you use the MSEB Equalizer then it is not necessary to use the 10 Band Equalizer, so I just leave the 10 Band Equalizer OFF.

I just use the MSEB Equalizer, and I use the 2 Plugins for adjusting the music Quality, and that’s all that I need for Excellent Music sound playback. What makes the HiBy R6 III Digital Hi-Res Audio Player Fantastic is the Spatial Audio sound ability that Hiby R6 Gen III produces. Inside of The 3 Plugins: Sound Field, EFOtech USpatializer, and EFOtech SVirtualizer are able to make the Music sound like 3D Spatial Audio really good/well. It is amazing to me. When you turn on the EFOtech SVirtualizer it sounds like you are listening to 2 Stereo Speakers right in front of you inside of a Nice Room. And the EFOtech SVirtualizer makes it sound like you are not even wearing any Headphones, the EFOtech SVirtualizer makes the Music sound almost like you are in a Studio Music Room listening to music coming out of a Good Stereo Amplifier and music coming from Good Stereo Speakers. It sounds like you are really in a Live Room listening to music, that is how Good it is. I am serious! tried listening to the Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2 Over-Ear Active Noise Cancelling Headphones, and the Music sounded absolutely Incredible, with EFOtech SVirtualizer Plugin in turned on.

The 3D Spatial Audio effect ability was/is absolutely amazing. You have to listen to the EFOtech SVirtualizer Plugin feature with good set of Headphones to believe it, hear it, and experience what really Good Audio Quality that I am talking about coming from the HiBy R6 III Digital Hi-Res Audio Player, with the EFOtech SVirtualizer Plugin in turned on. The EFOtech SVirtualizer Plugin feature is really, really Very Good, when listening to your own MP3 Music that you have in your own Collection. Listening to the EFOtech SVirtualizer Plugin with my own Mp3 Music Collection on the SD Card is absolutely fine, it works great, sounds great. There is NO other Smartphone anywhere, that can compare to the Audio Quality of the EFOtech SVirtualizer Plugin 3D Spatial Audio feature on the HiBy R6 III Digital Hi-Res Audio Player. Dolby Atmos on a Smartphone does not even compare to the EFOtech SVirtualizer Plugin on the HiBy R6 III Digital Hi-Res Audio Player. Dolby Atmos does not have any real 3D Spatial Audio effect.

To me I feel the EFOtech SVirtualizer Plugin sound is 10x’s Better than any Dolby Atmos on any Smartphone anywhere. Another thing that I LIKE about the R6 III Digital Hi-Res Audio Player is that Hiby manufacture was able to make a New Digital Music Player with Android 12, and 64GB Storage inside also, and Hiby did not raise the Price up High ridiculously to $700.00, $800.00, $900.00, or over $1,000.00 like other Digital Audio Players; (i.e., SHANLING M6 Ultra Music Player, iBasso DX240 Digital Music Player, or FiiO M11Plus Music Player, or Astell & Kern Music Player etc.) I believe the Hiby R6 III Digital Hi-Res Audio Player is still reasonably and Nicely Low Priced, and Hiby R6 III Digital Hi-Res Audio Player is well Affordable too, and that is a good thing that I like.

When I once contacted The Hiby Customer Service, they are very fast, responsive, really good, and Hiby Customer Service is very Helpful too if you have any types of questions. To me I feel the HiBy R6 III Digital Audio Player is an all-arounder and a does-it-all-in-one package. The Android 12 and networking abilities, steaming capable features, wifi, Bluetooth connectivity works very good. The Battery Life is really, really very good and nice and Battery Life is very long too. The Hiby Music Player has a Warm Smooth Sound Signature, and is adjustable with any type of Equalizer, or any Music EQ App if you prefer. All of the Music that I tested on the Hiby R6 III Digital Hi-Res Audio Player sounded really very good, on any type of Headphones. The HiBy R6 III Digital Audio Player is reasonably priced, it sounds exceptionally Good on most Headphones, and HiBy R6 III Digital Audio Player works and sound very well when listening to a lot of different music. Overall, I am pleased and Happy with the performance of HiBy R6 III (Gen 3) Hi-Res Audio Digital Music Player. I would recommend it.
