I bought my Launch code reader for car fault diagnostic’s and got my money back by using it twice on two of my vehicles. Really easy to use and quite robust. Thoroughly recommend it to anybody for fault diagnostics on cars. Before I bought this it cost me 112 for a garage to tell me one diesel injector had a fault.

Arrived fully charged, 5 mins set up (language, region, WiFi etc). Plugged in automatically picked up the vin, found the error code, cleared codes, job done. Fords did the same thing after not finding any fault at a cost of 180. Light came on again so car battery replaced (as read could be due to a low voltage reading) reset light, fingers crossed the light doesn’t come back on!!!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersArrived quickly. Easily laid out. Read the manual then read it again. Great that it has lifetime updates. I wanted a code reader that is more up to date this is. The other thing I wanted was to be able to do Forced Rejen on the DPF on a Honda CRV. It does great saves a fortune in garage bill’s. With all its outher features and uses it’s paid for itself already

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGot to say that it’s far better than I expected for the price and it’s solved 3 issues for me on its first use. It’s probably saved me 200 in costs alone at the garage on its first use. Love it.

Bought for trying to find a problem that no garage could sort. Can now record codes and clear them in the hope of finding out what’s wrong. Cheaper than keep getting someone out with a code reader at 50 a time.

Fantastic product cannot fault it. Scans every onboard module that you could need it to. Connects to wifi as well so can search the codes on google and even watch youtube videos on how to fix the issues. Brilliant customer care as well, very friendly staff that are keen to take care of any issues and help where they can.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersWorth every penny… I’m no mechanic but I like to try stuff before forking out garage prices!… I bought the LAUNCH CRP129E.

The dpf light came on but I didnt allow drive time to regen, Ive read driving 30 or 40 min is enough to regen the dpf and light to turn off, and to be honest this has always worked in the past.

I stupidly kept ignoring the light this time due to a hectic christmas and not giving enough time, after 3 or 4 journeys of this… limp mode along with, engine light, dpf light and flashing coil light!

I read up, force regen required at dealer or garage.

This is where the LAUNCH CRP129E came into its own… I attempted a force regen, though the soot levels in the dpf where really low anyway. After the regen I used the device and I told the ecu id replace the dpf.. I switched car off then on… hey presto… all lights gone!

Its also flagged up a power stearing issue too so I shall get this sorted in due course!

    Top product!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our Usersop seller and customer service. device works great, easy to use. connects to any car. tried on Infiniti ,BMW, Mercedes,Audi…..finds errors without problems. tests each block separately in real time. There is a description of all error codes. and the ability to reset them. The product is totally worth the money I spent. highly recommend.

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersI own a OBD USB interface cable which requires a computer and software – this works but the free software is difficult to find and not very reliable or feature rich. The all in one cheaper code readers only read your main ECU codes (i.e. they won’t read things like ABS and transmission codes etc. So I decided to spend a bit more and a better all in one unit, and having used this for some time now, I’m so glad I did.

This won’t be for everyone as it is a lot more expensive than a simple code reader, but it does provide a lot more. It’s an android based, touch screen unit. In general use, you plug it into the car, and it will then probably auto recognise your vehicle then auto scan it and generate a report for you. The unit stores a history of reports, so no need to try remembering what the previous code where if you fixed something then cleared them all down. As it’s android based, you can connect it to Wifi (I use home wifi and sometime my phone as a hotspot), which allows to enter an email address which emails a link to a cloud hosted report – professional enough for sending to customers for trade mechanics.

You can click a code on the unit to trigger an internet search for more details, but the unit does have pre-loaded description of most codes (i.e. for any codes found, you get the code and a brief description).

It’s super simple to use, you don’t need to study the user guide as the android mobile phone like interface is very intuititve.

The only minor negative is that scanning all the different systems takes a couple of minutes so isn’t super fast. As a home mechanic, I’m not sure if that’s just because the OBDII system takes this long to work through scanning all the different areas, or this unit itself is a little slow. However it’s definitly not painfully slow. At a guess, I suspect the time required is because this unit is able to scan all the subsystems of the car where the cheaper units only scan the main ECU codes.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersA brilliant device for identifying and resetting those annoying engine warning lights that occasionally drive you nuts by popping up and remaining lit up on your car dashboard.

I had an “engine management” amber light pop up on my Mercedes C Class Cabriolet 220CDI due to me continually cold starting it on a low battery charge over lockdown. This device not only quickly identified the issue but allowed me to remove the warning notification – Something that otherwise would have required a trip (& cost) at the main dealer. Brilliant.

Simple to use. It just plugs in the OBD port under the dashboard and then scans the engine management system for any fault notifications. You then can store that information and choose whether to erase the warning on the dash. Obviously if you do that, make sure it’s safe to do so and contact your service centre to be sure everything is right on your car if it’s a serious fault / warning. Mine was was just carbon spots due to cold starting.

There are of course cheaper devices available but if you have a recent model car and want a simple and easy to use device that quickly gets the job done, I think this is probably the one to choose as it also has the facility to regularly update the software to make sure most, if not all, vehicles are covered including very recent models which many of the other devices don’t. 100% recommended

Golden Review Award: 32 From Our UsersI have been wanting to update my OBD2 engine tool for some time because of the limited features it has with regards to vehicle systems and only being able to diagnose engine faults.

When I started to research about new scan tools it soon becomes a mine field. Most scanners are more expensive, some offer different features, others you have to pay for updates, and app based ones are great value to buy but you have to keep paying for extra resets and vehicles anually. That’s when I stumbled across the Launch CRP129E.

Not to be confused with the CRP123E which looks exactly the same but can’t do some of the extra functions that the CRP129E can.

So the CRP129E made by Launch. After receiving the scan tool I was pleasantly surprised at the nice build quality. It has an in built battery and acts like a android tablet. You setup WiFi and a few other items and your good to go with only a few clicks.

I bought this tool as a home DIY mechanic as I look after my family’s cars and a few for friends. Very simple to use with a nice interface. It’s a really nice upgrade from my old tool.

Plugging it into my first car, a Vauxhall Corsa E 2017. It initially does a health check over each of the systems. And allows access to the normal engine, ABS, SRS and Gearbox (my Corsa doesn’t display the function as it’s a manual car). You have full diagnosis of these systems, you can view sensors behaviour and outputs via voltages and graphs etc, and the option to reset. The tool even keeps a log of what’s been done, so you can look back later. The battery means you don’t have to have it connected to the power supply all the time. And you can email the reports from the device for printing etc.

Now the extra functions that this tool has are the important bit. It has free updates for life. No plugging into to PC’s and registering. It downloads directly from its WiFi connection straight into the tool. It covers a huge array of manufacturers. This tool also has the service reset functions which is above what the CRP123E can do. It allows oil light reset, throttle pedal relearn, TPMS reset, electronic parking brake reset and steering angle sensor reset. This functionality can vary on different makes depending on how each vehicle is configured.

I’m really pleased with the tool, it’s future proofed for a while and allows me to maintain more modern systems than I have been able to. I would definitely recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Launch CRP129E a great bit of ki

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersIt arrived less than 24 hours from ordering, out the box you have 4 or 5 questions to answer (part of the setup), once connected to your Wi-fi it promptly went off and updated all the firmware and software on its own. Once completed I went outside and connected to my wife’s car, it was simple enough to connect it then was just as simple to scan the car. The unit then supplied the fault code and description of the fault, for me it was the front left abs sensor. So I’ve just ordered it ready to fit at the weekend. All in all very easy to use with clear instructions and use. Can’t really fault it to be honest. Ah I can actually I didn’t find the charging lead until after I had charged it in the car via the odb port. The charging lead was hidden with the manual (that I haven’t needed to read yelp) in the bag that you store the reader in.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersA little cautious due to some of the other reviews and conflicting reports of Launch CRP 129E or 129X being best model.
    In the end chose C129E
Arrived almost fully charged and once set up (very straightforward setup) device downloaded multiple software updates 9just like almost any PC or Smart Phone).
Once software updates have completed basic operational test on 2003 BMW 3 Series E46, 2009 Mini Cooper 1.6, 2010 Volvo XC60, 2014 BMW 4 series F33 and 2010 Vauxhall Corsa.
All cars connected and diagnostics worked. 2003 BM connection and operation was noticeably slower than other cars but guess this is likely due to age of car and speed of ECU rather than any fault of the reader.
Used to diagnose constant running Fan issue on BMW – coolant temperature sensor on order will update in future after part arrives.
Used to diagnose Seatbelt Retention/Airbag warning light on Volvo XC60 – after resolving issue used this device to reset error code and retest. Issue resolved and Volvo remains error free (so far).
Suspect this device has already paid for itself in saved Garage costs so very pleased with Purchase.
Only issue noticed so far is diagnostic pages sometimes links to Google Pages that no longer exist – perhaps development team could recheck web links and provide updates – other than that no issue even with a 2003 BMW that is prior to date (2006 Onwards) stated by Manufacturer. It did say automatic VIN Number function not supported on 2003 BMW but when you enter diagnostics it had actually captured correct VIN Number – so perhaps it has an alternative method for older vehicles. No guarantee this will work with other older cars but worked on BMW E46. Covers all Five of our family cars
