I can’t comment on installation because my brother kindly did it for me however it has made my laptop so much faster . I feel that it is good value for money & a good investment . Many thanks

    Hi

I needed more storage and plumped for this after reading favourable reviews. I’m now using it as my boot drive as it’s faster than the Sasbrent Rocket which was there before. The speeds are great – just as advertised.

The only minor concern was the high idle temperatures compared to my other drives. However using my motherboard heatsink it never throttled or showed strange behaviour (board is MSI Tomahawk wifi Z690 and heatsinks are pretty good). I’ve subsequently switched to an aftermarket heatsink. Thermalright and Xclio do very neat little SSD “sandwich” coolers for less than 10. This has dropped temps further so I’ve got a decent margin of safety.

I was so impressed with the price and performance I bought the 4TB version for my other rig. As regards longevity the drives have a five year warranty up to 1500 TB writes for the 2TB version and 3000 TB writes for the 4TB version which seems generous. I hadn’t heard of Lexar in relation to SSDs but they seem to have a good reputation for other flash memory products such as SD cards.

    Hope this helps

    Mag

Great SSD drive and good build quality, went into an old PC fine and gave it super powers.

I wish the brand had more available software like Samsung have for disk cloning, but not a deal breaker as the price is excellent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great SSD

I did buy this as it was one of the cheaper drives with really good test results I’ve seen online.

It has disappointed. It’s been going fine for over a year without any issues. It isn’t phased by doing loads of this at once, something healer drives normally start to struggle with.

If you’re still on gen3 then this is a solid choice.

    Summary:
The Lexar NS100 2.5″ SATA III 6Gb/s Internal 512GB SSD is a solid performer that delivers on its promise of speed and reliability. It’s a great addition to any laptop or desktop computer, providing a noticeable boost in performance and responsiveness.

    Positive Features:
    1. Speed: The SSD lives up to its claim of up to 550MB/s read speed. The difference in boot times and file transfer speeds is remarkable, making it a worthy upgrade from traditional hard drives.
    2. Easy Installation: The installation process is straightforward and hassle-free. It fits perfectly into the 2.5″ drive bay and is easily recognized by the system.
    3. Capacity: With 512GB of storage, it provides ample space for operating systems, applications, and files. It’s a great balance between storage capacity and price.
    4. Durability: The SSD feels sturdy and well-built. It’s reassuring to know that it can withstand the rigors of daily use.
    5. Performance: The overall system performance has significantly improved. Applications load faster, multitasking is smoother, and the system boots up in seconds.

    Areas for Improvement:
    1. Write Speed: While the read speed is impressive, the write speed could be improved. It’s not a deal-breaker, but faster write speeds would make this SSD even better.
    2. No Included Software: It would be helpful if the SSD came with cloning software for those looking to transfer their existing system onto the new drive.
    3. Noise: Occasionally, there is a slight noise when the SSD is in use. It’s not overly disruptive, but it’s worth noting.

In conclusion, the Lexar NS100 2.5″ SATA III 6Gb/s Internal 512GB SSD is a fantastic upgrade for any computer. It offers a significant performance boost, easy installation, and ample storage capacity. While there are minor areas for improvement, they don’t detract from the overall quality and value of this SSD.

Bought 2 of these last week for my PC and PS5. Extremely quick and easy to install on both devices.
Transferred 600gb of games from the PS5 console storage to the new Nvme card in less than 5 minutes.
Shows a read speed of 6600mbs, Brilliant.

Unlike the terrible 4TB Crucial drive that drops to around 90MB/s on large transfers this one only drops to around 350 MB/s. Its super fast on normal use/boot etc. Around 7GB per sec. So massively better and it has over 4 times the Endurance too. So just buy it!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWhen I ordered my gaming PC, i tried to save on the costs of the build by scrimping on the SSD drive. It very quickly got to maximum storage and I was storing games on external USB drives.

Then wondering way games were taking ages to load.

Ended up looking at reviews online looking at what would be the best storage for things like games.

The HDD was the slowest, then SSD, and the fastest was the NVMe SSD. So for the budget I had, it was an SSD with more memory, or the NVMe which is faster but less memory.

I went for the 4TB NVMe and it didn’t disappoint.

I had to check that my CPU had the NVMe slot and luckily it does have one. Gutted it doesn’t have two to be honest, as installing this was very easy and took 2 minutes. It doesn’t require cables to the CPU nor does it require any power.

Managed to transfer all my games to it no problem, the CPU recognised the new SSD with just a few clicks. Games are running better and loading up much faster. Still got loads of memory left.

Probably the best upgrade I’ve made for the PC yet.
