So I was a little skeptical of these types of repair kits but had seen some that were what I considered cheap enough to take a chance on, most of which were with plastic handles on the tools and enough repair strips to fix five punctures. It wasn’t until I saw one of those cheap kits by a well known brand that I started to consider it a viable repair option but the difference in price between those cheaper kits and this kit was small so I decided to buy this one.. I can tell you after starting the repair I am SO GLAD I opted for this kit as the quality build of the tools with full metal construction is absolutely VITAL when trying to do a puncture repair on tyres for a big Land Rover! This kit is absolutely comprehensive, comes with solidly built tools pre-assembled, a great feature is also it comes with spares should you need it so the actual tool for inserting the repair strip comes with two more tangs so if you were to break one somehow there’s always something to keep you working. There’s more than enough repair strips to keep you going for years and it even comes with plastic as well as aluminium valve caps (incase you lose one) as well as spare valves, metal removal tool for them, knife for trimming repair strips, literally everything you need to get you back on the road. The kit is super compact too, everything is in the box from the instructions, lube, reamer, insertion tool, repair strips, spares and accessories. Literally can stow it under your seat in the car ready for any puncture repair needed and best of all, if you park the car just right you can do the repair laid next to the car without having to take the wheel off so it’s a perfect roadside repair kit. Since buying it I’ve done two puncture repairs for people at work for the modest fee of 10 which means the kit has pretty much paid for itself and I can still rest knowing I have more than enough left to fix my car anytime.

The only things I would add to make this kit better would be to add a plastic box to keep the repair strips seperate so they don’t dry out if left for a long time before use, as well as perhaps a rubber glue just for that extra security should there be a larger than ideal hole to be plugged. Other than that this kit is perfect and I’ll never use a can of that tyre weld ever again!

I used to fit passenger tyres years ago and remember using these back then. They haven’t changed much and despite being replaced by a patch plug these still work perfectly fine. This kit has everything you need to repair most punctures at the side of the road and is very simple to use, it can be a little difficult to force the tool through the tyre but with a bit of persistence you’ll get there. It’s a good idea to have a mini compressor to top the tyre pressure up if you’re doing this at the side of the road as you will lose a little air pressure doing this.

Also it’s important to remember that this is only suitable for repairing punctures in the treaded area of the tyre. Side wall damage shouldn’t be repaired, it’s safer to buy a new tyre in this instance.

I picked up a couple of screws where I workFixed two tyres in two days and no sign of a leak.
Job done, saved me time and money!
It does take a bit of force to push in the “string” but if you slightly twist as you push it goes in fine

I’ve used that title because I wanted to know how good or reliable these things were and what was the legal position. So I showed this to someone who runs an MOT garage and got a second opinion.
In short, it’s an effective kit for repairing a holed tyre in the middle of the tred. Used by someone who knows what they are doing the repair could be effective and legal. Used by me, in the rain, and never having done this before; the results may be different. It’s legal for the tred area (approx) but my Tyre person said that you want to get to a professional repair shop for checking and maybe replacing as soon as possible because if you have had a damaged tyre once it may go again if the repair isn’t done properly.
Despite the most excellent instructions this may be the case since you are doing the repair from the outside.
I’m going to keep it in the boot of the car, along with a tyre pump which will be needed after attempting a repair. I think for 30 that buys some peace of mind easpecially when travelling some distance. The kit is very complete, probably over the top and insures you could attempt repairs on my different types of tyre.

This is a kit for repairing punctures in car and truck tyres.

It is pretty comprehensive, with 50 plugs, the reamer and insertion tools , pliers and lubricant. Two spare tips for the insertion tool are provided, and there is even a knife to cut off the excess plug material. There is also a little box of valve spares – caps, cores, extensions and a core removal tool.

The tyre repair instructions are clear and illustrated – it’s a shame there aren’t similar instructions for how to use the valve core tool though.

This doesn’t feel like the highest quality item in the world, but it’s adequate for the job in hand, and is a useful addition to anyone’s garage, particularly now cars no longer come with spare wheels!

    Review from my husband:

This is a really professional-looking puncture repair kit lol. I had no idea this sort of thing existed!!, but really it has everything you could ever need to get you mobile again. It’s not really a permanent fix, more semi-permanent and it does the job admirably. It has enough parts to repair 40 punctures too so that’s really neat and this stuff is way better than a can of foam which is what modern cars seem to come with these days, so I think this is an essential piece kit for a modern driver. The process may seem daunting at first but in reality, it’s actually quite simple. Just follow the instruction insert the plug and re-inflate your tyre, it literally is as simple as that. Take care whilst doing it though and be careful removing the cause of said puncture. What it actually does though is it enables you to make a clean hole that’s just the right size for the repair plug thus sealing the tyre completely and then just re-inflate your tyre and you’re good to go at least till the next garage where you can have you tyre changed. But at this cost and a little bit of extra effort, it’s really a good buy especially since it does repair 40 punctures. Bit of a messy process but hey, who cares as long as it gets you home? 4/5, plus it works on any tubeless vehicle like motorbikes but I can’t ever see the need for advertising this as motorbike tyres never go flat through taking a nail as the tech behind them is so advanced and plus where would you keep this kit on a bike?? But for all 4-wheeled vehicles, deffo a good buy.

Firstly I have to say that, thankfully I have not yet needed to use this puncture repair kit – and I am also hoping that I never need to. However, I always think forewarned is forearmed and if I ever get caught out on the middle of nowhere and either I don’t have a mobile phone signal OR the breakdown people tell me it’s going to be 4 hours to come and help me out then I would like to think that this little kit will allow me to limp along to somewhere more helpful to wait for them.

It has the full range of equipment needed: A T-handle Insert Tool, Replacement Insert Needle, T-handle Spiral Probe, 40 Self-Vulcanization Plugs, L Hex Wrench, Pliers, Lubricant, Cutter, 4-Way Valve Stem, Standard Valve Cores, Chrome Hex Valve Caps, Valve Caps, Extension Valves, a Tire Pressure Gauge, a Small Tool Box and a User Manual – all in a handy Storage Case.

All in all I’m pretty pleased with the kit for the price – which gives me an added piece of mind.

There is the usual hyperbole with this DIY kit, that I find almost universally with DIY kits; the “pieces/Pcs” count is based on counting things individually, that most of us would consider to be part of a greater whole.

That said you do get a lot in the kit, the specialist tools you need to repair a puncture, a long with the rubber sealant to block the hole.

I don’t think I would be tempted to repair a road tyre with this kit, except in an rare emergency – for a short low speed journey to get a new tyre, because in the end the only thing between you and the tarmac at up to motorway speeds is that contact point of the rubber.

However for other pneumatic tyres, on garden equipment, agricultural and or construction machines, where high road speeds are not a thing, I think this kit could be really useful.

It’s worth noting this kind of repair is not suitable for tubed tires, or side wall damage.

In conclusion the kit is well presented, the instructions are reasonable and easy to follow.
