Stabilo are one of the leaders in highlighters so seeing these new-take on whiteboard markers, I thought I would try them. What you get in a box is five same colour stubby pencils with a waxy lead in them that is around 1cm diameter. To sharpen you will need a larger sharpener as the wooden outside is around 1.5cm diameter and much larger than even the largest pencil sharpeners I have. Stabilo do a suitable one though.

In use, the pencil writes on a whiteboard easily, although it does write thinner text than the lead thickness suggests. The coverage is even, and it wipes off easily with a cloth and a little effort. You do need to rub harder than you would a normal dry-wipe marker and if you try to just use your fingers, it just smudges.

The biggest advantages of these markers though is that you never have to worry about leaving the pen cap off the marker. There is no pen cap to use, and the lead doesn’t dry out – I suspect it would over years, but the markers will be long used by then.

The disadvantages are the cost (these are more expensive currently) and the fact you will need a new sharpener to sharpen them when you need more lead.

I often use whiteboards at work and am very used to dealing with markers that have dried up because someone forgot to put the lid back on, or simply that they’ve been around long enough to stop working properly.

No such problems with these big coloured pencils. They’ll keep working so long as they have lead to spare. There’s no included sharpener, but they should be easy to sharpen with box cutter or other utility knife. The lead is quite durable so I think I’ll get a lot of mileage out of these.

The writing isn’t as smooth or legible as a pen, but it’s close enough and I quite like the sketchy quality the markers have. It suits the impermanent nature of whiteboard scribblings.

Wiping off is maybe about the same difficulty as dried-on pen marks. You’ll need to scrub a bit. The application of water helps a lot.

Recommended if you want an alternative to plastic pens.

his product comes in a cardboard packaging, inside the box you’ll find 5 of these whiteboard/flipchart markers – the markers have a bit of plastic on them so remember to take it off before using.

This pen isn’t like a normal whiteboard pen (usually inky & wet), it’s a thick, chunky, waxy pen that can write on almost all surfaces – I personally tested this pen on my Desk, DVD’s & skin. they were all extremely clear, felt nice to hold.

The pen is slightly more chunky told hold than other pens, but is still comfortable. This pen doesn’t fit into normal sharpeners so you might need a special sharpener or use a knife to cut it.

Overall I do 100% recommend this product, it’s about 2 per pen, they’re made well and are very high quality

5.0 out of 5 stars good quality pens

I ordered these and thought they were a normal whiteboard marker, but with a stylised case.

These are a new (to me) marker that work really well on a glass whiteboard. The line they lay down is solid and legible. They wipe off easily with a cloth (or your fingers, but they’ll end up grubby). They smell quite pleasant (half-way between a pencil and a crayon) – so no nasty chemicals in the ink that some markers can have.

The marker is about the thickness of a whiteboard marker, so you’ll probably need some sort of heavy duty knife to sharpen them (unless there’s an accompanying sharpener I am not aware of) but they don’t seem to wear down quickly, so I think it’d be a while before they happens. They’re ~11cm long overall.

No drying out – suits my whiteboard usage patterns at home. I like them!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great! Not what I expected!

These look and smell just like pencils! The green is clear and the pen is easy to use. But they are a bit hard to store as you can’t attach them to a board. I haven’t tried to sharpen them but think it should work similar. You get 4 in a pack so good value. The colour green is similar to what you would get in pen, the tip is thick but still can write with it. The pen can be wiped off easily too.

You get five pencils in your chosen colour (black for me), in a card packet. Each stubby pencil is around 15mm thick and the waxy lead is around 10mm of that thickness. No sign of the advertised dry wipe cloth in the pack as advertised though
If you’ve used a Chinagraph pencil, or something similar, this will be familiar to you. They are essentially the same kind of thing. They write and are erasable on all smooth non porous surfaces (and will also write on porous surfaces like wood, but obviously aren’t erasable.
At around 2 per pencil, they’re not bad value and they feel like they will last a good while longer than a whiteboard marker.

These are great especially for kids, it’s basically a dry wipe pencil. Theyre easy to hold due to the thickness and you don’t need a lid so there’s no mess. The writing isn’t amazing but I’m hoping with more use they’ll get easier to write with

I didn’t properly understand the format of these markers until they arrived. They are like really chubby eyebrow pencils, with a waxiness which easily writes on a whiteboard or in my case helps you to draw designs on a pumpkin ready for cutting. Obviously they are nothing like standard whiteboard markers, so it’s a completely different concept. I guess it’s more eco-friendly. I assume these have the lead running all the way through them, meaning there’s plenty of writing available in this small pack. You will have to sharpen these with a pen knife because they are so chubby they won’t fit in very many pencil sharpeners.

These are a good sustainable option if looking for whiteboard marker pens.
At 10, 2 each they seem to be quite good value considering the quality and technology.

As for using them as a whiteboard marker pen, they are simply not as good as the real thing. Maybe it’s the years of use for me and the fluid feel, but these are harder to use and read.
They also don’t wipe off quite as easily, feels like a waxy crayon.

Overall I think if you are looking for a sustainable option these are a good buy

These dry whiteboard are weird to use, so a fair amount of practice is needed with them. The first thing that surprised me is how fine my writing is, if I do not apply significant pressure. The more pressure is applied the wider my writing becomes. What frustrates me is that when I write quickly, some of my script will be invisible. The experience is most similar to using a giant crayon.

The barrels of the markers are circular and smooth. They are somewhat slippy to hold. The markers also have a tendency to roll away when placed on a flat surface. The big advantage of the markers is that they write dry. I like that there will be no accidental ink transfer onto my skin or clothing.
