Great watch
I use my Fitbit to monitor sleep, calories and training. The new app makes it harder to see the heart rate graphic that used to pop up automatically.
To find it now you press download button (upward arrow) then on exercise.
I like the sleek design of the charge 6 and wouldn’t be without mine.
Great activity tracke
I found the king life of the battery to be really good. I had an Apple Watch and the battery would only last a day, which meant I could not log my sleep. This was very irritating. Now with this Fitbit I can loge sleep and daily activity for the whole week. It’s perfect and I love it much more than my apple.
Love i
I just absolutely love my fitbit, my arms not big so it looks perfect wearing, I love the fact you can change the straps and I know it’s boring looking comparing the clock part to others but it suits me
The metrics have really open opened my fitness pla
Loving the additional insight this is giving me as part of my fitness plan..
There are times I over do it, and it lets me know.. Much to deep dive into on the free 6 month premium side of things.. It’s really helping to keep my body in a burn state to shed those pounds without over doing it…
The sleep monitoring mode is also really helpful to get the most out of a balanced regime
Upgrade time
My 5 was showing signs of age, not happy charging or synching. So got a new one. Strap was a pain to change even though it’s the same as the 5. Overall it charges much faster, battery life is much longer and seems more sensitive than the 5. For example it seems to count steps more accurately.
It’s a Fitbi
It’s a Fitbit does the same as the others, bought to replace previous which had had a bit of a battering. Fitbit updated app however I hate and if I had know would have swapped to something else.
Good Product overall
This is my 3rd Fitbit product. The good thing is that it is simple, familiar and provides a good enough value.
The bad thing is that they die after 2 years and you need to buy a new one…
Big Improveme
Much better than the Charge 5 I was previously using. Brining back the side button helps a lot with functionality. There are now many more workout options although some are unnecessary, boot camp, circuit trg and outdoor trg come to mind.
I am disappointed that Google have decided to remove the FitBit desktop application so now you can only use it on your mobile device, but this does not reflect on the actual device.
Strap is rubbish
I’m starting my review with the strap, I put the larger strap on but it gets so sweaty I’ve actually got a blister on my wrist so I’ve had to remove it, waiting for another strap to arrive.
The battery needs charging regularly and it sometimes doesn’t sync with the app.
Difficult to charge
Initially I ha issues getting it to charge. As it was new to me I probably used features that are heavy on battery usage. Over a period over 2 days I attempted to recharge and that was problematic.
First time left it on charge from 10pm till 7am out doing my morning walk and get a low battery warning! Try again but manage to only get to 46%. Looked at Fitbit user forum and this is a known issue! Clucking bells! if this is known issue what is google doing to resolve?
I think I may have a solution. Today I used a plug which came with Samsung mobile and this appears to work. Now 3 weeks later this works and charges to 100 % no issues.
It does what I want it todo
I just want to use this for basic stuff sleep, heart rate, workout etc but it will do a lot more. This is my 4th Fitbit. First was the then two fives, which only kind of lasted just over 12 months the last one like many other users had battery problems which both google and Fitbit denied yet didn’t bother to try and to follow up on the complaints and find what the problem was. I am hoping that this one lasts longe
Charging?
The Fitbit features worked very well as my previous one did. My main reason for upgrading was having to charge everyday. This new one only charges to 92% but I’d expected 100%. However I still get a weeks wear out of it.
I’ve used most versions of the fitbit charge over the last few years. This one is mostly a good evolution of the previous charge 4, which I had used for a couple of years. Only big issue is losing steps climbed due to removal of the altimeter. If I could have got another charge 4 I would have but I’m very happy with the Charge 6 as it is in general a positive step forward. Recommended, but only if you really need to upgrade from earlier version
Pros
Still pretty small and unobtrusive.
Display is much easier to read and the touch control is more positive.
GPS is quicker and more reliable
Reasonable value for money if you are a fitbit user
Cons
Terrible strap. Very comfortable but fine adjustment for wrist size is difficult and it is very hot and sweaty in certain conditions. I replaced it.
Loss of stairs climbed due to the altimeter being removed.
Likely to have the same problem as all other fitbit devices I have owned in that it breaks in some way after two years when it is outside its warranty.
I had a Fitbit HR previously so knew roughly what to expect. I only use it paired to a Pixel 6a, not with its standalone GPS. The Charge 6 is an improvement over the HR – better screen, easier to use, O2 measurement. One thing I find handy is that it vibrates when I have an incoming phone call which tends to catch my attention quickly than my ringtone (especially if phone is in pocket). As far as I can tell it’s reasonably accurate, though the auto exercise detection is a bit hit or miss, and sometimes it misses a night’s sleep (though still shows start/end times – maybe it’s too loose those nights). I’m still on the bundled free Premium subscription – not sure I will pay for that afterwards so will have to look at benefits.
Mainly I use my Charge 6 for looking at my sleep patterns, checking resting & peak heart-rate, walks/run distances. I don’t think it’s designed for measurement of serious exercise though, so if that’s what you’re looking for I suggest a different Fitbit model or something by Garmin etc.
I really like Fitbits and this is my second watch as my old Charge 5 died in the pool. I am blown away! A really solid battery life as usual from Fitbit and lots of tracking features too! Love the new workouts and google maps, and the obsidian black colour looks great. It also is really simple to use and turns on when you look at it automatically. The price is quite reasonable because of the performance you are getting and the accurate heart rate. The watch’s aluminium frame is durable just like the old Charge 5!
I have used a Fitbit for quite a few years now and started with my granddaughter’s Charge 2 HR. They have come a long way since then and made a lot of improvements. I think its recording of steps is fairly accurate and it is definitely an incentive to get moving so as to rack up the number of steps you have set for your target. I like to see what my heart rate is and what my night’s sleep has been like and also how my body is reacting to stress. The battery life is very good and generally only needs charging once a week or so. The display is nice and clear. I probably don’t make the maximum use of all its features as I am not a young person but it certainly does everything I want it to and I would not like to be without it!
The ECG tracker was the deciding feature
As a first-time user and being over 70, I wanted an easy to use, convenient tracker for general health monitoring. The critical feature for me was the in-built ECG tracker. The other features I considered were all OK, may be useful. After several days of being unable to get the ECG tracker to work, I was on the point of sending it back. Google searches helped resolve the issue.
After several weeks use, I am now delighted with tracker. The most informative features for me are the ECG tracker and the sleep pattern plus heart rate, SPO2 etc. (The skin temperature records around -2C but since the app states this in my normal range I do not get over-concerned about this. I have, I think, enabled skin temperature readings.)
The problem with the ECG Tracker not working was the “Location” was blank. (The ECG tracker is only enabled in certain countries inc. UK.) It was difficult to find where to set the “Location”. If I remember correctly, I had to log into the FitBit website. It was not a setting on the Tracker nor the app. Fitbit support were unable to assist, simply regurgitating Google found instructions on how to reset the tracker. Google also showed that I was not the only person having this problem nor the only one bemoaning the poor support from FitBit on this issue.
In conclusion, I am delighted with the purchase and the insights it has given me regarding sleep patterns. I like the automated detections of sleep and activities because I would not have the inclination to set start / stop each time.
I’m not expert at these devices but I can’t tell you that it measures everything well (at least consistently). You get a free subscription to the full Fitbit experience for a while then it stops. It’s not really necessary anyway. One hiccup I found is that it DOESN’T WORK OVER TATTOOS, no heart readings so I had to change arms and have it point where there’s no ink. Also you have to have YouTube premium if you want to listen to music and also not many Fitbit apps compatible. But if like me you just want to see if you’re dying and how much sleep and exercise you get, it works great. My high street bank accounts won’t allow me to use the Google wallet on this device. If that’s something you want, check see if it’s compatible first. As it’s a new device in the line I’m kinda hoping for more apps to become available but it works as is, without adding anything. Some stuff like ECG and sleep doesn’t show until you sync the app, not a biggy but I wandered why. It does show a live heart rate though which is perfect. I feel like the app could have more detail to it, it’s easy to see an overview but I’d like have more control and views over the data, seems a bit basic. Worth 5 stars as it functions as expected and has a decent battery life and consistency.
Slick looks and feel
The Charge 6 looked good when it came out of the box.
I like the screen and the different features. A big plus is that the screen can be read outside.
Much better than the Charge 2
Pretty good so far and is doing what I purchased it for with good performance all round…the only silly thing i want too mention and point out is the photo of the black colour addition is of poor quality and angle a because I didn’t realise nor can see in the advertisement photo that the side panels referred too as (button) and other side are near on chrome or like a lightish grey and its noticeable that it don’t match the whole device, although it don’t exactly change the performance, it does change the appearance and so thought I purchased a completely black device and considering each colour has a different price for some reason and still do exactly the same performance wise so that makes it enough too mention it. Just a heads up really
It’s nice to have a Google owned watch that lasts more than a few days. Still get to use Google Wallet, email, SMS and WhatsApp notifications plus added sports tracking. Can be slow to sync and had to do a hard reset to get some of it working. It had trouble with some of it’s built in features saying I wasn’t eligible in the UK (I was and got it working).
Clumsy set up
Started using it a couple of weeks ago. Took four attempts to sync it with my iPhone. Then when I star walking, it starts an automatic count of exercise minutes that I had to learn how to stop as not all of my walking is cardio exercise? So far YouTube feature just gets the spinning wheel of terror so I don’t use it as it drains the battery. I was happy with the simplicity of my Charge 2. This one feels a bit too much. We’ll see how it goes!
Seems like a good tracker.
Bit of a struggle getting it to pair with my phone and with the final installation. The available clock faces for this model are horrible and there is no option to customise with this one. Early days to comment on its performance, time will tell! UPDATED Review: This is becoming a pain. Regret not getting another Versa. It loses connectivity and it’s missed two important workouts that it was suppose to be tracking. May return this. Not a happy bunny!!!
Nice Fitbit but......
Took a while to pair with my samsung flip, eventually paired and love it. There are issues when I go out without my phone, it takes ages for the fitbit to pair with my phone when i get home. I have to keep turning the bluetooth on & off for it to pick it up, which has never happened before. If it continues I will probably return i
Bought this to replace my aged surge, as a fitness tracker its excellent, fantastic battery life (even with a couple of 5k runs it will last between 5 and 7 days) the two strap length’s in the box are appreciated and its very light and has a small footprint. My only grip, if you can call it that, is using the payment app requires you to put a pin in which on a small screen isn’t very easy, but as I don’t use that feature much I wont dock the overall score
I’ve had 2 Charge 5’s, the battery failed on the first one, and I live by my stats!
This new Charge 6 is notably more advanced and accurate, and for me importantly it has many more additional sports including skiing.
I didn’t like the watch face so much but it was easy to put the screen I wanted and configure in the usual way.
Also I changed the strap and fitted the one from my old Charge 5 which fits identically.
As a man with a hairy wrist, pushing the overlap through the strap hole is very uncomfortable, and the strap supplied doesn’t suit me, not at all.
The charger cable is identical, so it suits that the bedside cradle charger I previously bought works perfectly.
My biggest gripe is the App, now belonging to Google. The recent upgrade is a step backwards. Things like the watch remaining battery charge are no longer the first things you see. Sleep stats have less data, etc etc.
Apart from the App, which is still good, just less so, the Charge 6 is excellent. Small form factor, lightweight (certainly compared to my Fenix!) and i love it being ‘Always On’ which you can set up, so it’s always readable.
Hope this long write up helps!
Mike
This is the latest FitBit charge that I have, starting from the original. I live in the Caribbean. So in summer you need a shower after drying from the first shower or just accept really high electricity bills coz the AC is invariably always on.
My last experiences with two FitBit charge 5s is dismal. The first one died after a beach trip with the water lock on. The second failed to fully recover after doing outside chores admittedly at midday and having lost 2 liters of fluid.
This time I vow to keep the device as far away from water as possible, water lock or no water lock.
I had a high pressured IT career and I found the device helpful to basically force me to take downtime. The new app is great. You actually see when something strange is going on in your body. For that alone I would recommend it, with the caveat of avoiding water at all cost.
Accurate and comfortable
Comfortable to wear, easy to use and pretty accurate. Doesn’t have the technology to count floors! Charge 4 had this technology, don’tunderstandwhy a newer model has less capability. I like the tips, guidance and exercises you get on the app.
