I completely drained the battery and monitored the current while charging it back up. It actually went to 117Wh. However, the battery seems to have a very slow idle drain. After taking it off the charger and letting it sit for 3 days I noticed it was reading back 98% on the screen. Putting it on a charger begins the charge once again. The 117Wh current reading was probably the battery hitting its capacity and losing charge with the charger continuing to top it up. This also explains why my field monitor wasn’t able to turn on after 2 weeks of the battery sitting on V mount, despite having plenty of charge before going into storage.

First thing’s first, if you’re a videographer and don’t own a V Mount Battery, what are you doing? Kidding, of course, but it is a must-have in your camera/gear bag. If looking at options for your first V mount battery, this is a great place to start. This battery will give you plenty of extra recording hours. Battery life depends on the equipment you’ll be powering with the battery. You don’t have to necessarily power a camera, it can serve as a great power source for continuous lighting equipment, microphones, and so on.

This specific battery by K&F Concept is awesome and gives you 99Wh of battery. It’s perfect for traveling as I believe the current limit is 100Wh for batteries within the U.S. Charging is PD Charging, which is super fast and if charging your cell phone will get you to 100% in no time.

    Overall I do recommend it.

I’ve been thoroughly impressed with this robust v-mount battery. The sleek digital display not only adds a modern touch but also offers clear insights into the power usage. While the carbon fiber looking shell adds a touch of sophistication, I was unable to confirm its material composition. Nevertheless, its quick charging capabilities pleasantly surprised me as it swiftly revitalized my iPad Pro 12.9 in no time. Even after reaching full capacity, the battery still boasted an impressive 40% charge, hinting at its lasting endurance. I can confidently vouch for its commendable performance, leaving me satisfied and ready for more.

This is your basic V-mount battery for use on a portable lighting solution. A lot of applications for theses units but I’ve been putting this one on LED light panels or COB constant lights a fair amount. Performance has been really good and the unit is well made with a nice finish and tightly fitting port covers.

The integrated display helps you keep track of charge percentage and output voltage. I found this pretty helpful. I used my D-tap charger without issue on this unit and it came back to full charge pretty quickly.

All in all a solid unit that I have in my kit for those times when you need power to go.

    Good portable battery!

This K&F Concept V Mount Battery has a large variety of uses for photography and videography. When combined with a NP 550 Dtap to PTap it can power a wide variety of lights, monitors, and recorders like the Atmos Ninja. It is 99Wh do it is legal to fly with your carry-on luggage.

One note – you may see 6800mAh and think, “meh” but remember that is at 14.8V. Many portable battery packs are rated at 5V.. so the K&F Concept V Mount Battery would rate at 20,000mAh at 5V.

    Notes-

    – It does have a V Mount back… which is super handy if you have a rig that you can incorporate a z mount plate. I don’t, but you can purchase a z mount clip (with a c clamp) relatively cheaply. Or, if you want, you can buy a Z mount plate that will connect directly to this battery. I use a z mount clamp, which works well for clasping polls and etc.

    – It has a variety of different outputs.. the USB C, Standard USB, and even a D Tap

    – One of the D-taps seems to hold cable a bit too loose. When connected to a DTap Ptap (day that 5 times fast) it seems to connect very loosely on one side and can’t hold the cable without it falling out.

    – It has an easy to read display that shows you the remaining power.

Final verdict – A very useful battery IF you are a photographer/videographer and you travel. Otherwise, it might be overkill for your situation.

First of all, this is a good price for a V-Tap battery like this, a bit on the heavy side but that can’t be helped. Initial charge took 4 hours to get to full power. Now usage is down to 60% at the lowest and takes about 2.5 hours to get back to full. Not bad, I think and coomes with an array of any type of port you way need likes the USBs and D-Tap. I have a dummy battery attached to this from another manufacturer to power my R5 and they all play well together. No issues. The V attachment also hangs well on my Neewer and SmallRig cages and pieces. Sometime in direct bright sunlight of this tropical region, the screen can be a little hard to read. Have to shade it with something but the readout is fantastic. No need to look at a little line of LCD dots to see the charge, thank goodness. All in all it was exactly what I was looking for, I now I don’t have to send assistants back to the office to charge or get me new batteries!

This is a great option for powering your V-mount items, with a good array of power ports, charging options, and a cool looking texture that also adds a bit of functional grip. The built in LED screen is nice for monitoring the charge/discharge status. On top we have a USB-A (out) and USB-C (in/out), and each side has a D-Tap port (in/out), with the bottom having the standard V-mount plate contacts. This gives you not only a variety of ways to provide power, but you can also charge it using a standard V-mount battery charger, a USB charger (such as your phone or tablet charger), or a D-tap charger.

The port covers for the D-Taps and USB power are easy to open, with nice little tabs making it a breeze to pop the covers off. When popping the covers back on, I had to fiddle with the top port a few times to get the USB-C side to properly line up and sit flush. The OLED screen is easy to read indoors, but outside in the sun it’s very hard to see (refer to outdoor picture for example). In fact, I thought I didn’t hit the button at first, because it didn’t look like it was even on. While I like the texture of the body, it does feel like it’s made of a slightly more brittle style plastic, so you want to take care not to drop it.

Overall, it’s a pretty good battery with a few minor caveats that keep it from deserving the full 5 stars. At 99Wh, this should be a flight safe battery (Never check your Lithium Ion batteries. Always carry them on.), though the label doesn’t indicate it as such. This is probably more of a 4.5 star item, but I rounded down since it has a few drawbacks.

    Good selection of power ports
