    6 Months Deployed Update
I purchased this to run along with a easy swap 5.5″ to 3.5″ container with a sata backplane of its own.

No issues in 6 months, after installation I have always had up to date drivers and have had no errors or issues with this device. I even had to trouble shoot disks with pluging and unpluging drive pools with no problems at all, immediate recognition as if it was a native port to the motherboard.

    Worked as adverticed
Used it to transfer my system disk (one slot nVME on MB) to a bigger nVME drive, no problem at all, worked as a charm.

(but then again there are not many components on the item so not much could go wrong?).

    anyway I am fully satisfied

for what ever reason, my data from the motherboard stopped working so this little Jewel solved it all. Simple to install (10 minutes max) and off we went. Well worth the money!

    More hard drives the bette
I bought this for my Plex server. I have like 11 hard drives and only 6 ports available, 4 on the board 2 on other pcie card. So having this has literally giving me 14 ports to play with. With 11 devices connected, I now have 3 free available for anymore and I’m even more crazy. I might get a another one for the free slot and/or replace the 2 port pcie for another 8 pcie. Yay!

Works fine straight out of the box
Does the job needed by adding an additional 4 SATA ports to a system. Did not need to install drivers manually on Windows Server 2019 & get full drive transfer rates across all 4 ports when used with good quality SATA6Gbs cables

    parfai

Decent product after a few easy modifications.
The card worked as expected straight out of the box. I installed a 4tb Crucial P3 NVME drive and it worked without any driver or firmware updates.

My main issues with this product were asthetic, but it’s nothing a little arts and crafts time can’t fix. I painted the metal bracket black, blacked out the edge of the pcb with sharpie, and covered the blinking blue LED with some black foam tape (Minus 1 star for how bright and obnoxious the blue LED is).

The speed is nothing to get excited about, but it’s on a single PCIE lane so it’s to be expected. It’s still faster than a SATA SSD.

Overall, a decent product for a fair price.

    Good value, hard install
The installation doesn’t take account that some cases are built differently so sometimes you might have to modify the metal bit and switch out the holes where the screw goes in.
Personally i ditched the metal bits completely so just slotted it in. In terms of the compatibility it does what it says on the box. IT comes with a lot of screws / backup screws as well as the thermal metal heatsink that can go over the top. Just bear in mind that the plasticy glue bit that is provided might not hold it together (it’s a bit heavy). Other than that.. been using it for a week.. no issues what so ever. Good product just bear in mind the physical installation.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersGreat for Gen 3 NVME drives (PCIe 3.0), does not work at Gen 4 NVME drive speed (PCIe 4.0)
This is a great adapter for Gen 3 NVME drives. It works flawlessly and the integrated heat sink keeps the NVME temperature 10C lower than my motherboards secondary M.2 slot heat sink.

However please note that it does not work for Gen 4 NVME drives. There are some conflicting answers about this, so I want to be clear as to its limitations.

The test hardware I used was an ASUS TUF Gaming X570 Plus motherboard. alternating two Sabrent 1TB Rocket Gen 3 NVME drives, and one Sabrent 1TB Rocket Gen 4 NVME drive, through the secondary motherboard M.2 slot and then then the ACTIMED adapter. The test software I used was CrystalDiskMark 8 and ATTO Disk Benchmark 4.01.0f1 on Windows 10 with all the latest updates.

The Gen 3 drive performance was the same in the motherboard M.2 slot and the adapter, but the Gen 4 drive was corrupted during the CrystalDiskMark 8 test. It passed ATTO, but that’s because ATTO is very straightforward and doesn’t send complex commands at full speed.

However CrystalDiskMark 8 really thrashes a disk, and sends a variety of complex commands at full speed, and not only did it stop working after the first read, but Windows Event Viewer recorded countless disk paging errors and warned of data loss when using the ACTIMED adapter.

As a final verification I went into my BIOS and limited the ACTIMED adapter slot to PCIe 3.0 speeds, and the Rocket Gen 4 drive then worked flawlessly.

So if you have a Gen 3 drive you can’t do better than the ACTIMED NVME PCIe 3.0 X4 Adapter. However if you have a Gen 4 drive you will have to find something else, or limit the adapter slot to PCIe 3.0 speeds.
