My 73 plate VRS came without a reversing camera and this works a treat. Needed a hard wire kit as the built in usb didn’t have enough amps to power the unit.

Rear camera is on the back window.

Mirror and camera system works well.
    Very happy customer.

To start – as an instructor, low sun at this time of the year (autumn or indeed, spring) in the morning or evening is a total pain in the rear end. However, as I have to have a rear view mirror to see behind, I can’t use the sun blind to help as this also causes the rear view mirror to be hidden. There was also a Dash Cam (not going to mention them by name (rhymes with ‘text’ and ‘lace’), which needed replacing as it was complete $!^. I saw another car on the road with a camera mirror and thought “Aha!”. So off I start a searching for a rear view camera mirror and after trawling through Amazon review after Amazon review, I land on the Pelsee P12 Pro.

It arrived and, whilst I knew it needed something to hold onto (it normally replaces the actual mirror in your car, in normal use), my little suction cup mirror was not up to the task of holding on to the Pelsee. So, a quick trip to Halfords and armed with a bigger suction mirror, proceeded to install the Pelsee. This was fairly painless as there is a device to push cables under the trim and it works well.

I installed it as an instructor mirror to start with as I wanted to see how it would look and how it would perform. After a couple of emails back and forth with the amazing support team at Pelsee, I was able to set it up so that I had a view of the rear as I would with a regular mirror.

This week, off I go with new electronic mirror in situ and so the testing started. Keep in mind that this review is from the perspective of a driving instructor, NOT my customers (who love the Pelsee it by the way).

The width of the rear camera is excellent. It almost reaches the width of my door mirrors and allows me to see EVERYTHING behind, including what it right under the rear window. Night vision is also excellent and street lights bring the road alive. Obviously, there isn’t anything one can do about country roads that are unlit. Damn you physics!

As mentioned above, I had intended to then replace the internal rear view mirror with this but.. tiny points preclude me doing this – the width of the view of the camera means that objects such as other vehicles appear a little more distant than they really are if looking in a real, flat mirror. That makes judging for my customers, for example, when slowing down, a little more difficult. And that, is the only reason why I won’t place it in the middle. For everything else, it is perfect.

So, for other driving instructors, if you want to try this as a way of getting WAY more view of the rear of your vehicle, this Pelsee P12 Pro is 100% the way to go. It hasn’t solved my being blinded by the sun, but it gives, by itself, more ability to duck behind the camera and not be blinded.

As an experienced driver, I have quickly become accustomed to the distance objects behind are and that is no bother at all.

Added bonus? It’s a dash cam front and rear.

I have tried using the memory card to read files. This is a problem for Mac users as it appears to be formatted in NTFS (a Windows file format for storage devices). I am currently installing some software to see if that allows access to the card and will update this review with my findings. So, for Windows users, I am expecting that all is OK, for Mac users, at the moment, not so much, which makes the Dash Cam part of this mirror, a little more of an annoyance when you want to use footage for lessons or to report some seriously suspect driving.

Despite the file system problem, I already would not want to be without the mirror feature of this device and I am now on the look out for a proper method of attaching it to the Dashboard of the car so that I can use the sun blin. It’s electronic, it can go anywhere. How’s that for a feature.

100% recommended for driving instructor use if you are interested.

As a front and rear dashcam set with a good quality display, I think you’ll find this hard to beat for the money. The display unit is superb, and is obviously very well made. The other features are a bit of a mixed bag, but I’ve had fun trying them out. It was easy to install, and I was able (with the little tool supplied) to hide most of the wires behind the interior trim. There is customer support, and they do supply software updates, which I’m hoping will improve the other features. I’m currently using it as a rear view mirror, which it does well as it provides a greater field of view than your actual mirror, and is handy for reverse parking.

Having done some research I decided to take the plunge and purchase. Firstly the product itself is amazing. Clear views both from and rear view from both cameras. The rear camera can either be mounted inside th car or as I had done outside underneath the rear number plate. I had a electrical mechanic install and he did a fab job. All wires are hidden from view. The features are amazing. With the ability to calibrate the view from both front and back, important to catch those blind spots. The recorded material can be viewed after either the front or the back. Too much praise for what this can do and even better is the fact that a good product is only as good as the the technical support. When I had a question and having emailed the company they were not only quick and detailed but also suggested if I have any further questions to provide a phone number and they would advise via phone.

Great product and fantastic service. Highly recommended

    TLDR:
Fantastic item, just didn’t fit in the vehicle I wanted to use it in (volvo c70).

    Review:
Looks like a premium item, great packaging, all the accessories you need as well as YouTube videos for installation and configuration.
Rear view mirror mode is just as you’d expect, same as original mirror. Video quality is very sharp with good colours, looks really good. I’m gutted that I couldn’t get it to fit on my Volvo c70, the usb-c power cable (as well as the rear cam & GPS) plug into the top of the mirror/cam. In the C70 there just wasn’t enough space between the mirror and the plastic headlining. I also tried it in a range rover, and while it did fit better, I just couldn’t get the front camera to point where I wanted it. It seems that the camera is potentially more geared towards LHD cars. Even in the range rover I couldn’t strike a balance between front camera position and rear view mirror angle. Massive shame as I’d have loved to have kept the item but I returned it due to not getting it to fit. I’ll certainly be keeping an eye on this sellers products though based on what I’ve seen.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMe and my colleagues who are using the company’s van have some difficulties parking it in very narrow places and I have decided that it is the right time to invest into a front and back dashcam but because there is no mirror in the van I have decided that this is the right type of camera that I want to take.

The installation process took around 30 minutes(I did it with my colleague who mounted the back camera) and in order to make it work it was very simple, I just had to format the card and then just tap on the mirror to record video. Every time I get into the van I don’t have to do the same process again because it’s starts to record automatically and also this one supports loop recording which means that when the card is full it will overwrite the old files with the new ones and like this I know for sure that I’m not gonna miss anything.

It records good quality video daytime and nighttime and I have downloaded some files on my computer and I confirmed the fact that it is 4k(based on the size of the video file) and this is an important aspect for me because it allows me to zoom in quite a lot as still see clear details.

I use mainly the back camera for reversing which is pretty handy and I say this because it offers a wide angle and combined with the reversing light from the van I still get a clear image in the mirror even when it is completely dark.

This dashcam set work just fine and it also allows me to reverse properly with the van this is why I am happy with the functionality of this product.
