This is great. A very useful product, which has performed well and been so useful for us. Well made, reliable and a lot better quality than expected.
As ever, you can’t tell from purchasing online exactly what gets delivered – but this has been an excellent purchase and one we are so pleased with.
Well made, well presented, great packaging, great quality and value – highly recommended by us.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGreat for taking temperature and relative humidity, this thermometer can be hung like a picture frame, or a stand is helpfully provided so it can stand on a desk. I like that 2×2032 batteries are included which can cost half the price of the unit alone. It is a little disappointing both batteries only last around 12 months – as typically these batteries have a lot more endurance, but I guess using these keeps the footprint small vs using AA rechargeable batteries.

The display is clear and sharp LCD – even at angles above eye level though there is some fade to be expected. There is a nice indicator showing Dry/Comfort/Wet that corresponds to the relatively humidity, but only indicates one of three states rather than acting like a slider.

I found that after unboxing and inserting batteries, it reported inaccurate information for around an hour. It then slowly settled on the correct humidity, as checked against 2 other devices with built in hydrometers with a variance of around 2-3% which I would expect.

Lastly, should you need to switch between celsius and farenheit, there is a button behind the battery compartment to toggle between the two.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI like the form factor of this unit – not to big or small, with most of the front taken up with the screen, with no thick bezels. I also like that when you fit the kick stand, it actually increases the contrast of the screen as the viewing angle becomes optimal in a tilted back orientation. As the headline suggests, when I first inserted the batteries, it didn’t feel very robust as there are these fiddly locking clips that hold the batteries in place. Once I had put the cover plate back on, the unit came on then died after a few seconds. I resat the batteries and this has seemed to fix it, but I don’t like this design, as it just feels flimsy and not very robust.

The other nitpick is that the power on/off is located behind the battery cover plate, so if your one of those people that like to switch things like this on and off, then it’s an extra step. Nothing major but worth noting. Readings wise, the humidity displayed an offset of 5% of what my dehumidifier was displaying, and the temp was within 1 degree of what my room thermostat was displaying. I’d take that as fine as unless your going to be paying serious money for calibrated sensors etc, then all bets off off in my opinion.

All in all then, I quite like this unit from a visual point of view and it seems to be reasonably accurate though do bear in mind the negatives I rasied.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis product is an ideal size for seeing the display from across a room which is great when you just want to glance at the measurements without having to walk up to the device to see the units. It comes with both a stand to insert and twist into the back of the device for conveniently placing on a shelf or has the option to be hung somewhere on the wall with a screw or also with a sticky pad as this also comes inside the box. This makes it quite a flexible and convenient device to have in your home.

The only slight downside of this device is that the on/off control button is located on the back behind the battery panel, so in order to turn off the display you would have to remove it from the wall (or pick it up from the shelf), take off the back panel and press the button inside where the two batteries are located. I would have preferred an external button location so it’s not too inconvenient to turn off/on if needed – it seems there are unnecessarily too many steps to follow in order to just turn off/on the device.

    Pros
    – very simple to use
    – seems to be made with reasonable quality materials
    – can turn it on or off if required

    Cons
    – 2 batteries

2 batteries to run this thing might be a bit of an issue if it kills them quick. But so far it’s been doing well. Seems to show a fairly accurate reading as it matches what I would be expecting from the position I have it in compared to another one in the room that I use as a general room temperature gauge away from the window. This one is currently sat next to the window so I can keep an eye on the temperatures where the plants are. It’s showing about 1 degree lower value than the general room temp. So this is where I would expect it to be around with the current temperatures. There is a +/- 1 degree accuracy thing going on but that’s the same with the one I have for general room temp. So they’re probably reading there or there abouts.
If you’re after absolute accuracy because every .1 of a degree matters, you’re probably not looking at the cheaper options for that.

The material quality is good. The battery cover doesn’t require anything but a finger nail. I did find it a little difficult without having much nail but I did loosen it enough to manage it. Which is good, means the batteries should be in and secure with a good connection.
The batteries are held in and take a bit of a push to get in there as well so I don’t have a doubt they’re nice and secure overall.

The display is pretty clear although if it’s backlit, it will be more difficult to read as it’s not the brightest display. Most people probably aren’t having it backlit with natural light though like I am.

Overall, at 8.99, it’s a pretty reasonable price to performance in my opinion.
    Pretty good quality!
