Tidied up my bedside table and made me think hard about what to have in it. Would be nice if some of the dividers and cufflink holders were removable but overall, recommended.

Cheap and poorly assembled but usable and cost effective. I actually had to return the first box because it had problems in almost every aspect. Second box was much better, so it’s partly luck of the draw. But don’t completely write it off. I wouldn’t use this myself or gift as is, but with a small(ish) amount of work it can be much improved. Loads of silly manufacturing problems that needed fixing: gaps in the wood, lid or sides not being flush, bottom coming away from base, drawer loose and wider than the rest of the box. First three images show the replacement box as delivered, last three show with modifications to suit my needs. I sanded away the defects, rounded the tops of the lid, pulled out dividers to give room for sunglasses, reused spare material to create stays for the drawer so it doesn’t fall out, stained it darker, and replaced the feet on the base with larger pads. These changes have made it into a box I am happy to have out on display. I’ll probably modify the lid for soft close and maybe a magnetic lock. This work may not be possible for everyone. Buy with caution.
