  1. How to get there

A smarter way to search for destinations

If you’ve used older TomTom sat navs, you may remember inputting destination details step by step. Thankfully, with TomTom GO Superior, that’s no longer the case. Instead, simply search for your destination using key identifiers like its name, street, or postal code. Want to visit the Eiffel Tower? Just start typing ‘Eiffel’, and the rest of the destination will show up straight away. The same applies to restaurants, hotels – anything, really.

  2. How to set-up a Bluetooth connection

    Accessing traffic info via Bluetooth

To receive traffic information and TomTom services, you can connect your smartphone to TomTom GO Superior via Bluetooth. Watch the video for a step-by-step explanation. If you have any questions, please visit help.tomtom.com.

  3. How it’s displayed

The right information at the right time

When it comes to receiving navigation info, timing and context are key. That’s why TomTom GO Superior sends alerts and updates when they’re relevant, including upcoming traffic, speed cams, rest areas and fuel stations. Estimated times of arrival (ETAs) are insanely accurate, and account for any delays. Plus, 3D buildings help you better orient yourself against your surroundings.

  4. How do you like it

    Personalize your sat nav

TomTom GO Superior lets you personalize your sat nav experience. With customizable map colors, route lines and other elements, you can reflect your own preferences and improve visibility on the road.

I’ve had several TomTom devices over the years, a supporter since I have never owned a car with built in system.
The screen and handling of this is sharp and easy to use.
I have found that even though it goes to sleep when you leave the car it may do a long restart the next day rather than be instant on. I’ve only had it for a few weeks but wasn’t expecting this.
My main gripe is for the last few days it has said “unable to connect to traffic services, please try later”. This makes it sound like a system issue but doubt it would be down for days. It’s connected to my phone and MyDrive is syncing, just no traffic connection. This is rather annoying to say the least.

Man kann eine Sehenswrdigkeit eingeben und bekommt gleich die Anschrift plus Route geliefert. Phnomenal
Es ist nicht unser erstes Tomtom aber das Beste.
    Ich kann es nur empfehlen.

The TomTom GO Superior comes nicely packed inside a well-presented retail box. Along with the device you get a windscreen suction mount, charge cable, and a cigarette lighter socket plug with a single USB port. Its a shame you don’t get a case with this model for the price.

The mounting system works great, its still the same design as older models but its tried and true so it works really well. The mount is high quality, easy to attach to the windscreen and get the perfect viewing angle, and the charge cable plugs into the mount rather than the sat nav which is much easier. This Superior model is quite large so make sure you have a decent sized windscreen for it, it still looks big in my large SUV!

The screen is super sharp and very clear but its 2023, I’m really not sure why a device like this needs such large bezels especially with smartphones having literally none, it just takes up more room than necessary and makes the product look old fashioned. My 6-year-old TomTom 620 has the same size bezels so no improvement in design over all that time apart from a Type-C port?

The more modern looking layout and map design is excellent and its very quick and easy to read while you’re driving. Fonts stand out well and the map illustration are vivid and high definition, the screen is also excellent in both day and night. I didn’t think I would like the visual alerts, but they are actually very useful, especially as I normally mute the voice guidance so I can listen to music, the same can also be said for the lane guidance features.

The traffic features are excellent, and it does its best to keep your journey time as low as possible. It can show you traffic queues, roadworks, and closed roads, as well speed cameras. I’ve always liked how it shows your average speed when you enter the zones which can be quite helpful. Of course, you still need to connect your phone to it so it can use the data connection to access the services. As with older models you can connect to your Wi-Fi to download device and map updates.

It takes about 50 seconds for it to boot up which is the same as my old 620 and once fully loaded the performance isn’t too bad, it’s quite snappy to navigate through the menus and at calculating routes. I like the route finding and that it gives you multiple choices with times and lengths for each one. The GPS is accurate most of the time but looses track of me every now and then, I do have a heated windscreen though which may interfere with it.

The battery life is very good if you don’t want to or can’t use the charge cable in your car. From a full charge and during the day at 50% brightness the battery will last for just under four hours before turning off. It also seems to charge back up very quickly.

The big issue I have is the price and not only that but if you want to continue getting traffic and camera updates then you also need to pay a subscription these days. My old 620 cost me 160 and it came with lifetime maps (World), lifetime speed cameras updates, and lifetime TomTom Traffic. Now this new model (with a slightly bigger screen) is over 300 and its 35 a year after the initial year trial. I could just use my own phone or buy a budget smartphone with a 6.5″ display for around 80, take out a cheap sim only deal for around 5 a month and use one of the many popular navigation apps with similar services. Its difficult to justify the high price just for a sat nav these days, especially as they still need to connect to your phone to fully function properly.

Overall, ive always liked my TomTom and this new GO Superior model is better in nearly every way, I just find it hard to justify the high price tag, I can’t see where the value is especially with phones so cheap these days but maybe that’s just me. Apart from the price it’s a product I’m more than happy to recommend and I feel four stars is appropriate for it, just get the bezel size down in the next one!!

I genuinely thought satnavs are a dying breed, but after using this tom tom go superior its changed my mind on them, they still have a place.

Our car doesn’t have andriod auto or a decent sat nav and we always struggle when we go away, we have used this when on holiday and it’s was a breeze! Turnings was easy screen was bright and was easy to navigate.

This is definitely a step up from the old style sat navy this is a smart sat nav.

This latest Tom Tom Sat Nav is very easy to set up – you just need to create an account and select your preferred settings. The Sat Nav is easy to read due to the size of the screen. It can be charged using the cigarette charging port.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersNow I have had TomToms for pretty much all of the years that they have existed – so I have seen them evolve. With Western Europe maps loaded they got me through many countries on my own “grand European Tour” back in 2010. What I am trying to say is that I have a deep affection for TomTom…

So, how does this new one look. Giving it the name Superior is presumably to show one and all that this is the crme de la crme of the satnav world and the price tag certainly lives up to this billing but how does it compare to older models and what you can essentially get via your smartphone with google maps for free? This definitely IS a step up from both my TomTom Go that I have been recently using and Google Maps but at this price tag I definitely would have thought twice – or thrice – before parting with this much cash.

It is easy to set up and hooked up to your phone and downloading all the latest software and maps etc was a doddle (as you would expect in 2023) but a bit time consuming. The maps are really nice and clear and it has some bonus up-to-the-minute features like the parking availability, current traffic and road conditions and the latest nearby fuel prices – features all of which I like and use. However, many are available via your phone already (it’s not really as though you can check these on your TomTom as you are driving along – well not safely at any rate!) and so I would really wonder how I could justify the money. And to be frank, I can’t. So the features are great and it’s on a lovely clear 7 inch screen but I could tether my 10″ tablet to my phone to get pretty much all of these on there and so I’ve had to score this accordingly. Hence I am afraid, and it pains me to say so, for me it gets 4 rather than 5 stars.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis satnav has a bigger screen than I expected. It is perfect for a truck or large vehicle driver, however the unit is probably too big really to use in a car (I have used in in a BMW 320 as well as my truck just to test it, and it does block a lot of the windscreen due to it’s size, so I have to mount it on the passenger side rather than the centre where I would usually put a satnav when using it in my car. At the end of the day though this is a satnav designed for trucks/buses/large vehicles, and for that purpose it is ideal due to its size and clarity. Speed camera warnings appear to be accurate so far, and it detects average speed camera zones as well, displaying your average speed whilst you are in this zone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Big screen and easy to use

This new on the Market TomTom Go Superior is packed full of features to help make Car journeys that little bit easier.

Large in size with its 7′ High Definition Touch Screen.
This Sat Nav is really easy to use and the included instructions are clear and easy to follow.

    Inside the box you get

    – 7″ high Definition touch screen
    – USB / cigarette lighter adapter
    – power cable
And a adjustable Sat Nav holder for the windscreen.

Set up was easy. Very similar to that of a new tablet etc where you select the language then it guides you through step by step before you can use the product.

The SatNav itself is powered by the cars battery via the supplied Cigarette adapter. Their is a power button located at the back which turns the screen on and off and once turned on you are then able to access a variety of custom features such as alerts, preferred route types, voice styles and location indicators for things like car parks and petrol stations.

The touchscreen itself is very responsive and the image quality is crisp and clear.

The SatNav seems to be accurate with both road layouts and speed limits.
And with its large screen size everything is easy to see from the driving seat.

    Definitely recommend

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb quality.

Brilliant sat nav, accurate and shows petrol prices, speed cameras and traffic reports which most dont, although it only comes with a years free subscription to the service.
Very easy to use and updates without a computer which is brilliant for on the go usage.

Be aware it may need additional mounts for some vehicles, i found the windscreen mound causes it to obscure too much windscreen in my car.
