Works Well. Price is reasonable.
This pretty much does exactly as it says it will do — it negotiates a gigabit connection with my ethernet switch, and it has both USB-C support and USB-A via an in-built adapter.
It works out of the box with MacOS Sonomoa, and it reports to be a RealTek gigabit interface, (Vendor 0x0bda and Product ID 0x8153).
LEDs onboard seem to differ from the usual link and activity lights you’d get on these interfaces. There appears to be a power LED only, and from what I can see no link or activity lights. My switch shows a link and activity, but no lights change state on the interface. This could be confusing if you’re trying to debug a connection.
There’s not really a huge amount more to say about it. Construction of the case appears to be metal
Plug and play, no fuss networking.
I bought this to add ethernet to a ultra thin laptop. Simply plugging it into the USB C port and away I went. No problems, totally transparent, and seamless networking. Handily it also has a USB A connector as well for those that don’t have USB C. Being a paranoid sort I also ran a program called Wireshark to look at the data being sent to and from the network stack. Just to make sure no malware was hiving my data off to some bad actors server somewhere. Happy to report that this wasn’t happening. So if you need to add ethernet to a device that has no ethernet port then this is a very handy way to do it. And, yes, that include phones.
Really handy tool when you want the maximum speed
There was no installation required – just plugged it in & connected my Ethernet cable to my laptop. It worked immediately. As expected, I can retain almost the maximum speed (just slightly lower for upload though), compared with WiFi connection. It’s a small but very useful tool to have. Definitely recommend it when your laptop doesn’t have a LAN port.
Simply plug and play!
Simply plug and play! Whether you require USB or USB C this adapter will do the job. Simply plug it into any available port to quickly gain a 1Gbps ethernet port. The adapter was automatically detected and installed as a “Realtek USB GbE Family Controller” with no user intervention on Windows 10. The build of the adapter is standard, an aluminium case and short lead. The USB C to USB adapter is handy but do base in mind that is you are using it does protrude quite a bit! Apart from that is does the job it is advertised for well.
Simple to use, works well
This adapter features a network port leading to a USB-C connector. There’s a USB-A adapter attached but I am using the USB-C connection pretty much exclusively so I’ll probably remove it at some point as it gets in the way a little.
Build quality seems OK, the adapter is lightweight and relatively compact with a metallic shell – mine came with Oliveria branding. The cord is short with basic bend protection at the join onto the adapter body. There are indicator lights either side of the port.
Performance is fine, I got this adapter to use with my work laptop, which doesn’t have a network port. I have larger hubs with more ports but most of the time all I need is a RJ45 connection so this adapter is ideal. So far this adapter has been working with no issues, I’m very happy with it.
No setup required
No setup required. Plugged it in with the attached USB-C to USB3 adaptor and nothing was manually needed, it just worked, and speeds were Gbps. Tried without the adaptor and it was also fine. Ideal for when there is no ethernet socket or WiFi option.
Gb USB to Ethernet Adapte
Nice little unit that feels robust. Plugged into laptop via the USB C port and laptop immediately picked it up and made it ready for connection. The Ethernet cable plugged in with a satisfactory click and brought me online without any configuration to do.
Speed seems fine but unable to confirm if can reach 1Gbps, also unable to confirm if the USB A adapter works as my devices only have USB C.
All in all, a nice little Ethernet adapter.
Perfect for laptops without network socke
My LG Gram laptop has a full size HDMI port, but not a network RJ45 socket. Ordered this dongle to bridge the gap and it works perfectly. No drivers required for my Windows 10 machine and the speed of connection was as expected around the gigabit mark on a local file transfer. A great addition to my travel bag.
Good low cost Ethernet adapte
This Ethernet adapter worked well with my laptop. It very usefully has both USB A and C connectors. It isn’t especially fast but it works reliably. With the integral port I got 270 Mbps and with this adapter I got about 170 Mbps.
Super speed!
I needed this to use with my laptop which only has USB C. It maxes out my internet connection which means this does exactly what it is required too and I am very happy.
It comes with the usual connection and data transfer lights built into the ethernet port, and it has a solid metal and plastic build, so I don’t mind chucking it in my bag.
Great accessory, but product photos do not show the branding
The USB adapter works as advertised, no problem with the advertised gigabit transfer speeds over USB A or C. It was also plug and play on the Windows device tested, with no need for additional drivers.
The inclusion of the USB A and USB C connection options makes it very versatile, allowing for maximum compatibility with devices, regardless of the USB port options available.
Build quality is good too, with a metal and plastic construction for the body, cable is of decent quality too.
The generic photos shown on the product page do not show Oliveria branding on the device, which – in my opinion – does detract from it’s otherwise clean professional aesthetic.
