Very easy to install
Very easy to install on my Windows 11 PC (plug-n-play).
It’s faster than my internet connection speed from the router so I’m pleased with that.
I found that, with my router position, the antennas get a stronger signal when horizontal.
I can thoroughly recommend it.
Easy to install
This dongle is easy to install and instructions were pretty clear. I am happy with the signal as it is now stronger and I am able to connect to the internet in another room now. I am very satisfied with it.
Recommended!
Thank you for reading my review. I hope that you found it helpful.
High performance WiFi USB dongle
This WiFi USB dongle (with two antennas) was directly inserted into a 3.0 USB adapter on my mini desktop PC (whose original WiFi adapter failed). It worked straight away. No set up or driver installation was required at all — though I am on windows 11. In case you’re still on Windows 7, or are using this with a Mac or Linux OS, there is a small CD in the box which can be used to install drivers.
Speed tests showed an average download speed of 61.3 Mbps and an average upload speed of 18.6 Mbps at 10pm. This speed was similar to that achieved by an M1 MacBook Air (66.2 and 18.5 Mbps) on the same broadband and at the same location. Both computers were located on a different floor to the broadband router. The signal strength of this WiFi dongle was slightly weaker than that of the MacBook (3 bars vs 4 bars), but this was quite a small difference. The achieved speed I got was certainly lower than the specified maximum speed of 1300Mbps, but this is likely due to the insufficient bandwidth of my broadband rather than any fault with the dongle. In addition, this broadband is shared with many, many devices (including a TV, phones, computers). I am actually pretty happy with this achieved speed since it reached my broadband speed limit. Furthermore, I had tried two other WiFi USB dongles on my mini PC and neither of them were ever able to reach download speeds faster than about 5Mbps on it. I hope this dongle will maintain this performance and last for a long time!
I would note that the body of the dongle is quite wide and may cover an adjacent port if they aren’t sufficiently spaced on your computer, as you can see from my photo.
easy to install - good signal
I have tested it with my laptop and with wi-fi points that are spreading a 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz signal with around 300Mbps of bandwith available, and what I could get was 170Mpbs. However, since there are other people connected through wi-fi in the same network, not sure if it is affecting the bandiwith available. Installation was pretty easy on my laptop, and with Windows 10 pro there was not need to install any driver, it worked just after I plugged in into the USB port.
Poor instructions
Works well enough on my wifi, I can’t stress test the speeds since my WiFi caps at 32Mbps and sitting in my room, it was about 30Mbps, more or less the same as my laptop wifi card.
Installation wasn’t too difficult but the instructions made it more confusing since none of the steps seemed to be what I needed to do. I think what happened was the USB automatically downloaded the drivers it needed and was ready to go. If you don’t have the drivers then you will need a disc drive to use the installation disc which is something to consider.
Overall, it worked well enough in my test and happily sits in my tower.
