Having suffered a plague of house flys despite doing a deep clean i found the
fly sprays to be useless, so i needed something to attract and kill them.
These seemed to be the best available, but i soon discovered that due to the wide gaps
between the electrodes small flies just pass straight through!
You know when a large fly has been zapped by the loud noise, so this limited it’s use
in a bedroom, which is a shame as it makes an excellent night light.
So only recommended if you need to kill large flies.
This has been a great buy product it has killed many flies in the house and works best later on in the day when it’s a bit darker , it can be quite loud when killing a fly , I have jumped on a few occasions when it’s went off , it cleans well the fly’s lay on a little tray that u can easily pull out and put them in the bin , easy to install brightness very good bit not blinding it’s like an additional light in my kitchen it’s not too overwhelming and was great price too.
Have put this in my kitchen to catch the tiniest little critters that can get through insect netting and which come out at night. It attracts them and kills them instantly. My only gripe is that the lead is very short for a product to be hung up high. I was going to give it 4 stars because of the short lead – which significantly restricted where I could put it – but in fact I’m so pleased with its performance that I’ve stuck with 5. The spare bulbs are a bonus. I don’t know how long they last, but it’s great to know there are spares.
Excellent product, very effective. Living next to a green belt we were plagued by flies especially during the warm weather when doors & windows were open. Not any more. It seems more effective in subdued light i.e. dusk and later, not in direct sunlight. This will be the UV light being less attractive in sunlight. It does give off a loud crack when zapping a fly, and once put on a good lengthy light display when dispatching a big moth. As mentioned elsewhere the flex should be longer but easily fixed by adding a toggle switch and extra flex to the plug end (3 at B&Q). Overall very pleased, especially with the spare bulbs. Recommended.
It’s very compact and light weight, can be placed anywhere or even hung on a wall.
The light it emits is bright, it works almost instantly and after using this for a few days all the flies are gone.
Sometimes have to be careful when mosquitos get zapped as they get caught inside the metal area rather then falling down, so you may have to switch this off to shake off the mosquito and turn back on or you will hear a continuous zapping sound.
Definitely ideal for a kitchen, office space or bedroom.
A very good product. It does exactly what it’s supposed to do. Only thing you do need to take care as I got a drop of water on the inside and
the bulb and fuse went. So I wouldn’t want it to be outside when raining. It’s good having the spare bulbs supplied.
