I bought this laptop specifically for video editing primarily in 4k, which it does comfortably well, & I also shoot in 5k with my GoPro & again I’ve been able to edit & make some decent enough videos for my YouTube channel!
There’s lots more to like about this laptop too, but as I said initially, this is a brilliant laptop for the price! Certainly good enough fie my needs!
I have to say that the screen brightness, size and image quality was something I was worried about but it’s absolutely fantastic. I love my laptop. I have no issues with RAM quality or storage capacity. If you’re looking for a laptop for studying then this is it… unless you think it’s too big then well find a smaller laptop. But for me it’s perfect. Only thing I would have liked is a laptop bag which I have got from previous purchases but that’s fine.
Lovely light, well built laptop
I ordered this for a customer on short notice as supplier were out of stock. Lovely laptop, light strong and nice feel and look to it. It was got for office and light use but appeared extremely fast booting/updating and responsive etc.
I’ve had this computer now for a few weeks and no problems to report. Not sure about the battery life as mine is mostly plugged in. You have to hold your finger on the start button for while for it to start up, but when it does it comes to life very quickly. I would recommend i
After old laptop died needed a replacement. Didn’t need bells and whistles of a gaming or graphics machine, just something reliable for internet, office and email.
This does the job well, battery life good, speed good and large clear screen.
Couple of annoyances that stop it being 5*the one off button is hyper sensitive and takes practice to get it to turn on without turning it off again and the included mcafee trial spams you with pop ups for ages until you uninstall software
Good quality laptop
Good quality laptop, works well and fast, battery has been fine for day to day usage watching videos, music and work. The brightness could be higher, and the build quality is fine as well. It is plastic, so careful not to drop it. Good amount of ram lets me do everything with no slow downs.
Solid laptop
Very good laptop so far. Works well, fast, easily usable, good battery life HOWEVER- I’ve only had it a month. Very good for uni so would recommend as a university laptop but haven’t really tried anything else on it. The sound isn’t the bes
Powerful, good battery, decent keyboard which should be back-lit in my opinion. The screen can only be viewed at a certain angle otherwise the colours will be very washed out. I came from an OLED 14 inch laptop from the same brand and thought that I had just grown used to the OLED beauty but I compared this screen to another non oled and it rang rings around this laptop. So if you’re buying this for media, I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re connecting it to an external monitor. The sound is decent and does the job. Fans don’t get too loud even when I played a light weight game. The laptop can’t be lifted with one hand for anybody wondering. I’m also not a fan of the colour of the keyboard it reminds me of one of those cream keyboards from the 90’s/early 2000’s especially because it’s not back-lit. For someone just looking to do office of college work, this laptop is excellent especially with the high end CPU. If you’re into gaming or watching stuff on it, I’d recommend looking at something with a better screen.
Bought this for my accounting course. It is brilliant quick and easy to use and in a really nice silver colour. Does everything I need it to. Battery life is excellent.
Ryzen 5600H, a 16:10 screen at 1920 x 1200! , 16GB RAM, 512 NVMe, dual-band (2×2) wifi. That’s very good value for sub-500 (especially once you take VAT out of the equation and it’s nearer 400).
The chassis quality is pretty solid, there’s not too much give: the keyboard isn’t spongey. The 720p webcam obviously isn’t going to be the best thing, but it does have a physical privacy cover: a nice touch.
Of course there’s bound to be one or two compromises somewhere at this price point, and one would probably point to the screen: it’s geniunely refreshing and great that it’s a proper monitor-spec 16:10 (that extra height is *always* a plus) and at FHD+ resolution (WUXGA). 300 nits though is just above the merely adequate, and one probably shouldn’t talk of colour-accuracy for creators. But as a functional cost-effective PC for someone who just needs web browsing, Office-type apps, some Zoom calls, video playback and perhaps some light gaming, there are probably few things better at this price that are new out of the box.
I bought this laptop for my school age great-niece, in the past she was given 10-year-old laptops upgraded with SSDs which were a help, but with 2nd gen Intel i5 and only 720p screen resolution, still left a lot to be desired. I spent a day setting the laptop up for her, I was immediately disappointed by the screen which lacks colour depth, reds appearing closer to orange and blues also weak. Furthermore, I called Amazon to arrange for a return, which they agreed to. However, a few days later when the family came round to see the laptop, it was agreed that they were happy to keep it. When I looked at alternatives such as the Acer Aspire 5 looking at the screen specs, these were hardly better. I have perhaps been spoilt by my various ASUS and Samsung OLED screens and higher end Razer Advanced, and a 6-year-old Dell XPS. Unfortunately, the OLED version of this laptop costs several hundred more. In other respects, it excels in speed and remains relatively cool thanks to the Ryzen processor.
I got this for my sons birthday….Looks good and works well and is fast, his old one was so slow. This also came with a special online offer attached for some Internet security…. Great… I thought… After waiting for a code which didn’t come, it was meant to come 1 day after purchase, I rang Amazon… I was told to wait 48 hours… it didn’t arrive… rang amazon again to be told we didn’t qualify, not true, had proof, so emailed Managing director, got sorted out within one day… they we’re very helpful…
We had been looking around to buy a new laptop for some time. We were quite taken with this Asus at 526.97 as it we found it at higher price elsewhere however, on Prime days the price dropped to 479.99, which was a game clincher for us – an absolute bargain. It has been easy to set up, really like the keyboard, as a touch typist, many of the totally flat keyboards I find difficult, whereas this product has just sufficiently raised keys to make a difference. The resolution appears to be good too. Have only given a 3 on battery life – purely because we have not used it sufficiently to gauge the lifespan as yet. Will upgrade once have had time to properly assess. On the use so far, absolutely delighted with the purchase and would highly recommend.
I don’t really have any complaints about this laptop, except for a few:
– battery life sucks
– the screen brightness isn’t the best
– constantly slowing down, even though this laptop is new, basically, and barely anything on this laptop
– 14″ screen, not 16″ as advertised, so I’m sorry for anyone who got happy and excited about the screen size and got 2 inches shorter. But even though it is 14″, it’s a decent size, just disappointed, as you are paying for the 16″, you are paying for what was advertised and promised.
But overall, a great laptop. 4 stars
:
So I was told the 16″ means diagonally, apologies for the mistake, I genuinely thought it was measured horizontally, this is new to me, a little strange tbh.
Anyway, I re-measured the laptop, and I got:
17″ diagonally
14″ horizontally
10″ vertically
I hope this helps and apologise for the honest mistake!
Bought this as the exact same model was 320 dearer in Harvey Norman Ireland. As I am registered blind I stick to the same Asus Laptops so I don’t have to worry about layouts as they are all the same with Asus.
Only small problem I have is when closing the lid and hibernation mode kicks in. I find after 2 days it needs a restart as I use an Access program and things start to malfunction nothing serious as when I restart everything works fine. I am overall happy with this Laptop.
