    Fast and easy to use
The ASUS Zenbook is fantastic. I couldn’t be happier with the speed and performance. It boots up really fast (faster than my Chromebook) and gets me to work right away. It is very thin and light, yet feels really solid when typing on it. I am finding it has enough memory and processing power to run several things at once with no noticeable loss of speed. The screen looks great when streaming videos.
Overall, an amazing laptop for the money.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersFantastic display, decent performance, still bloated
Firstly, despite the “evo” sticker, this still comes with lots and lots of Asus apps & services (always running) that come back even when fresh install Win 11 due to firmware hooks. Still best to wipe the disk and start afresh with a clean Win11 download from Microsoft using Media Creator.

The display is OLED thus fantastic, but very glossy and thus prone to reflections; a matte overlay may be required depending on lighting. Pixel arrangement seems OK to be, the density is high enough that you don’t see it unless you’re 10cm from screen. 90Hz refresh is nice if you come from 60Hz laptops.

The CPU is a P thus has 4 P(performance) cores and 8 E(fficient) Atom cores but is also 28W rated (64W turbo max) – rather than the usual U (ULV) CPUs that you’ll find in 13-14″ laptops (with only 2P cores but 15W rated). Thus for some tasks it will be faster but it will consume more and laptop will get hotter.

Asus clearly goes for performance here – note there are even 14″ variants with H processors that are 45W rated! Note these are 13th gen (Raptor Lake) in name only, with none of the improvements the desktop versions have. If cheaper, the 12th gen version is just about the same.

Memory is decent at 16GB (LP-DDR5X 4800Mt/s) not the fastest but then again this is no gaming laptop. Naturally it is soldered so you won’t be upgrading it.

Graphics is your standard integrated “Iris XE” but at least with 80 EU that supports most modern graphics DirectX 12.1, DirectX ML, OpenCL, Vulkan – don’t expect RTX though. I’ve not tried top-end games, but Fornite and the like do work at lower resolution – 1080p looks decent enough and 1440p is doable with some restrictions.

SSD is PCIe 4 x4 (Samsung PM9B1) that is your standard OEM, again not fastest but decent speed. You can upgrade this and it has a heat-spreader also.

Wireless card is AX211 that supports Wifi 6E (and thus 6GHz channels) and is socketed! – thus you should be able to upgrade to Wifi 7 (e.g. BE200/201 range that just came out). It does have 160Mhz wide channels with 2.4Gbps link (on paper and next to router) but usually 800mbps or so.

Sound is pretty decent – no there is no bass naturally but basic frequencies sound pretty good to me. This is a great media machine – where movies, anime look fantastic. HDR is supported and with OLED screen it is really a treat.

Support seems decent with Asus generally releasing both BIOS and firmware updates for 3 years or so, similar to Dell XPS but not quite Lenovo business range of 6-9 years or so. But again different price.

Upgrading – you have your hex tiny screws but sadly some more screws under back feet ;( Please take care peeling those feed off as the rubber may break (mine did) and then it is a mess. In this respect the Dell XPS or similar Lenovo are much easier to service.

BTW, the thermal paste of CPU seems OK thus you don’t need to change it unless you got really expensive stuff. Better than what Dell / Lenovo usually put in.

Overall it is still a pretty cheap middle of road non-gaming laptop. A similar Dell XPS or Lenovo Carbon X1 are at least 2x for same spec thus in these difficult times hard to justify. But if you have the money, naturally those are better.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSolid Laptop - Early Review
Reviewing the Zenbook 14 OLED UX3402VA variant here with i5 Core 1340P, 16GB DDR5, 512GB SSD, Touch OLED. It only arrived yesterday but wanted to drop an early review for anyone looking to buy it in the current Black Friday deal at 750 quid. I’ll update again in a few weeks.

In the box you’ll find the Zenbook, USB-C power brick and some manuals (no carry case). It feels solid and well built apart from one thunderbird port that is mounted slightly wonky wrt the case. I ran diagnostics from BIOS (Power + F2) before setting up Windows 11 Home and everything passed ok. The OLED screen is the touch variant and has a very slight grainy effect to it when you look very close. Otherwise it is very pretty, blacks are obviously pure black etc. The default refresh is set to dynamic but you can change it to fixed 90Hz if you want. The touchpad feels really nice and mine has the built-in numpad that seems to be absent on some models. The keyboard is ANSI UK and feels ok to type on, decent feel and size. Some keys are half-size including Fn and arrow keys but this isn’t much of a problem. Keyboard backlight is inconsistent but not really distracting. Too early to talk about overall performance but in balanced mode with light web browsing, the fans did not come on at all and everything was as smooth as you’d expect.

    I bought the wrong Laptop
I bought the wrong laptop but when i tried this one, it was great, this was the first time I was getting an OLED and it was great, i use this item for my university course, and it suits well, the CPU is great for running loads of chrome tabs and visual studio code at the same time, fast response and the fingerprint ID is great on the laptop, the touchscreen was something I didn’t read about but it brilliant to have when you want to slowly scroll down for reading purposes or drawing. I would recommend this cheap laptop for all people that want to code and have a cheap laptop which isn’t too expensive compared to the high end models or the new Apple m3 chips

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersAn excellent laptop for students!
This laptop is excellent for students! I recently purchased this laptop ahead of my first year at university as an alternative to a MacBook, and the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED certainly does not disappoint. The battery life is fantastic for an Intel model, draining at a rate of around 10% per hour in my experience, which involved relatively average use (several browser tabs open, Spotify, Microsoft office applications etc).

The screen is stunning, I must say that watching films and tv on the 2880×1800 OLED display is a treat and the colour accuracy is fantastic. Additionally, the touchscreen is highly responsive and saves me a significant amount of time when compared to using the trackpad.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersHigh value quality product for price, Fingerprint smudges on laptop + Insane heating + loud fa
The display is simply stunning, offering vibrant colors and deep blacks that make watching movies and editing photos an absolute delight. The touchscreen functionality adds an extra layer of accessibility, making navigation and tasks a breeze with a simple tap or swipe allowing me to utilise it to make notes for university. A range of brightness option is also amazing.

The battery can range from okay to good, depending on your day to day task. For basic tasks like web browsing and word processing, you can expect around 6 to 8 hours of usage, which is reasonable. However, if you’re tackling more demanding activities like video editing or gaming (on lower settings), you might see it drop to around to no more than 4 to 6 hours. It’s not the best however I STRONGLY RECOMMEND turning battery saver on when doing basic task you can get up to 8 hours. Honestly the battery life should be better for it’s price.

Design-wise, the ASUS VivoBook 14 OLED is a stunner. The laptop’s sleek and modern aesthetic with a hint of abstract design sets it apart from the competition. The slim profile and compact form factor make it easy to carry around for school, business meetings, or just personal use. Plus, the addition of the fingerprint scanner adds a layer of security and convenience that I really appreciate.

However, one gripe I have is that the laptop and screen seem to be a magnet for fingerprints. It can get frustrating constantly wiping them off for that pristine look. Additionally, the fan gets extremely noisy, especially when you’re not even pushing the laptop to its limits it can get noisy just by web browsing AT TIMES and the over heating is INSANE. However if you want there is an option when clicking “F12 which will take you to the myAsus software > customisation > power & performance > Fan profile then adjust it to either Performance, Standard or Whisper mode recommend whisper mode when in school or in some type of work related station “. The saving grace here is the fantastic speakers. They offer crisp, clear sound quality, which is great for multimedia and casual gaming. It also give you the option to adjust your sound quality to your desires.

Speaking of gaming, the ASUS VivoBook 14 OLED can handle light gaming to max setting, woulnd’t recommed play high demanding games at ultra high max settings but you can play pretty much most game this is not a gaming laptop.

One thing to mention it didn’t come with the number pad option on the touchpad, not sure why but It’s not necessary for me but a bit of false advertisment, the touchpad is also good. “Edit this is for the core i7 version and greater model etc..”

I got it on a discount deal getting it for 674 even without the discount it DEFINITY WORTH THE VALUE. This laptop offers a fantastic OLED display, a fingerprint scanner, and an overall great design for its price range. However, there’s a catch — the camera. Given the laptop’s price point, I expected better quality from the built-in camera, don’t expect high-end video quality here.

In conclusion, the ASUS VivoBook 14 OLED is a versatile laptop that’s well-suited for various tasks, from school and business to personal use and light gaming. Its gorgeous OLED display, sleek design, and thoughtful features like the fingerprint scanner and backlit keyboard make it a compelling choice. Just be prepared to deal with those pesky fingerprints and the occasional fan noise. For the price, it’s amazing all around, offering impressive value for those who prioritize a top-notch display and design and high quality specs.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersImpressive OLED Display and Great Value
The ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED has left a positive first impression on me, especially with its stunning OLED screen. The display quality is exceptional, and it’s hard to find anything better than OLED technology. While it may not match the snappiness of a MacBook, it’s still a speedy performer, even with its i9 processor. Although, I do admit that for most tasks, the difference from an i7 or even an i5 might not be noticeable.

One thing to note is that it can get a bit noisy and hot during intensive tasks, but for everyday use, it’s silent and efficient. The battery life, while not reaching the promised 10 hours, is still reasonable for home use. The Harman Kardon speakers are impressive, although perhaps not quite at MacBook levels. The keyboard and touchpad are decent, though not on par with Lenovo or MacBook standards.

As someone who has used Macs extensively, I find the ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED to be a great value, especially when considering the specs and price. It performs well for non-gaming tasks, and with a bit of driver tweaking, any initial issues can be resolved. Overall, it’s a solid choice for those looking for a powerful Windows laptop with a beautiful OLED display.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersNice Laptop Great Display
I had to choose between quite a few as we all know there are 100’s out there.
Why did I choose this one? First off I am no way an expert so it was just a kind of chance having read too many reviews, but the screen and overall performance did it…and I am not disappointed. OK the battery life may not be the best but I sit next to a plug at home most of the time and does not worry me.
Performance does what I need and probably could do more, it seems to be a solid work horse with back light keys a bonus, I only play little games online but did not buy it for gaming.

I was somewhat disappointed it did not come with the number keys on the pad and was going to send it back (pictures clearly show on description) but I did not as have gotten over it and it still does a good enough job without.

I would recommend buying one as the screen display is impressive and touch screen, but tbh hardly ever use the touch screen, I think if folded back all the way, then yes definitely but it only lays flat.
The Zenbook for what I use it for is perfect.

No complaints with this so far, apart from the lousy sound despite updates and tinkering with settings. I expected better than this. I really miss my old HP’s wonderful sound quality/speakers which made listening to music a great pleasure.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersGreat performance, poor battery life
The performance, OLED screen beauty and everything else is above par, however, the battery life is considerably worse than expected. I bought this laptop believing the stated battery life, however, in reality it is way worse than that with the battery completely gone by about 3 hours.
Well guess I am stuck with this now!

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersExcellent laptop but it might need a windows "refresh"
I’ve bought this laptop when it was 699 , and returned the ASUS Vivobook S 14 OLED K3402ZA (672) which I bought days before. No regrets there as the Vivobook S 14 has a slightly better CPU – but it’s heavier, the build quality is not as good and the battery life is shorter.

Out of the box this laptop comes with Windows 11 (aka the new “vista”) which I’m not a fan of, the laptop felt slow and the fans would kick in very often. My assumptions are :
    – windows and Asus had a lot of updates pending
    – something might be wrong with the build Asus deployed
    – Asus’s software act as bloatware
I suggest you do the following:
    – run the Asus software and update the BIOS
    – after updating the BIOS, do a windows “refresh” without “saving your files” so you basically wipe all the bloatware Asus installed and you are left with a “clean” windows. Google “windows 11 how to factory default” and you will find instructions on how to do this.
Note : thumbs down for microshit for removing the option (during the initial set-up) to create a local account and forcing users to use an online “microsoft account”

For me, because I want to learn more linux, the laptop is happily running Ubuntu.
The fans never kick in as the CPU is doing close to nothing, battery lasts about 5h I would estimate.
Note: this laptop has Atmos sound, there is a issue with the drives on linux – as in they don’t work. There might be a solution but it looked fairly complex. Not an issue for me as I connect my Bluetooth headset and that works absolutely fine. So no sound on the speakers but Bluetooth sound work fine.
This is a problem only for linux, windows drivers work just fine

Don’t expect the battery to last very long on a laptop with OLED screen.
On that note – the OLED screen is gorgeous, 100% worth spending more on such a screen. It took me about a day to get used to it but I love it!
I use this laptop for studying, youtube/twitch so the screen really makes these a good experience.

Don’t expect to be playing AAA games on this , the laptop has no dedicated graphics.
I have run Darkest Dungeon on it without problems and I bet other games without high spec needs might run fine.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersA beautiful and afforadable laptop, but no numberpad like adverised
Got this for Christmas and it is an absolutely beautiful laptop, the OLED screen really stands out, it’s also quite lite, affordable, great battery life and the main feature I wanted most in a laptop is the backlit keyboard. However, my only criticism is that this laptop in fact does not have the numberpad onto the touchpad feature like it was advertised. Like at first I was confused for why I couldn’t bring it up but it was upon my discovery that this particular model of the Asus Zenbook 14 does not have that feature.

But am I mad, not really, I’m happy enough with it and I’m really pleased with it.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersFor the price...a very nice laptop
Almost bought this at 799 but then the price went up to 839 so held off. Then it appeared as a warehouse deal for under 625…and arrived in perfect condition.

Even at current price of 799 this is worth the money. Perfect for browsing, streaming, office, education, light gaming and coding (I use Visual Studio).

It’s a 12 core CPU so no performance issues at all.

Runs some older games…e.g. Dying Light quite well but it does get hot and fans are a bit noisy under load. I didn’t buy it for gaming so not an issue but nice to know it’s able to play older games well.

As others have said the touchpad does not include the illuminated numeric keyboard but I also have a Zenbook Pro Duo 15″ with the numeric keypad and I never use it so not a deal breaker for me but should be removed from the images on Amazon.

The 90hz OLED display is very nice and can be configured to run at 60hz under battery power.

The laptop is also very light and portable and battery life seems to last for ages too.

If this turns out to be reliable then it’ll be very to beat.

Awesome laptop, big fan of Asus, also have a ROG G15. OLED is fab. This is sterling quality, great keyboard and trackpad. No idea why no numpad on track pad, this very disappointing and am considering returning. You really should not show photos if this feature is not available. Sorry guys but I can’t give you a five stars if you’re falsely advertising a product? Let me know if the wrong part was included on my machine.

Golden Review Award: 88 From Our UsersA surprisingly high-spec laptop for a fantastic price
I’ve normally only used Apple MacBooks, Microsoft Surface devices due to the high build quality and high specs and good keyboard/trackpad/displays but given the relatively high price of these nowadays I thought I’d see what else was out there.

I’m glad I did, I stumbled upon this ASUS Zenbook 14 K3402ZA. For less than 800 I am absolutely blown away by it. It’s well built, looks great and has a very good keyboard and trackpad, certainly no worse than Apple/Microsoft laptops I’ve used before. It’s got a really good spec for the price – Latest Intel 12th Gen Core i5 processor, 16GB RAM and an Intel 512GB SSD.

The inital attraction to this laptop was the large 16:10 OLED display and boy it delivers! It’s stunning, and it’s touchscreen as well. Blacks are so black and colours really pop. It’s an absolute joy to use. (Tip: The screen supports a lovely 90Hz refresh rate, oddly it ships with 60hz enabled so make sure to change it!)

The performance is excellent and it seems to have reasonable power efficiency. I don’t think it’s likely to win awards for insane battery life, but I would say it’s good enough to not be a concern.

The MyASUS utility pre-installed offers a lot of customisations and options (including being able to limit battery charging to 80% to aid battery longevity) as well as tons of options for the display, fan profiles etc.

It’s very quiet, even when given a lot of CPU intensive work it’s never distracting and largely silent during normal use.

The only minor niggles are that the webcam is only 720p but seems to produce a good enough image, and the speakers while loud and clear just aren’t as good as those in a MacBook/Surface but they’re not bad and Dolby Access is pre-installed which makes them sound much better.

I was able to compare this laptop to it’s ASUS Vivobook equivalent (see attached pictures) and they’re very similar laptops with some key differences:

    1. Screen – Both have a 14in OLED display with the same resolution and look largely equivalent. However, the Vivobook is not glass-fronted and it’s ever-so-slightly bigger. On the flip side the Zenbook has a very slight ‘grain’ texture (the touchscreen digitiser) so the Vivobook looks slightly ‘cleaner’ on a bright white image. Not a deal breaker however as I think the Zenbook screen being touchscreen is a clear win despite the introduction of a very slight grainy texture.

    2. The Vivobook uses a 12th Gen Intel Core i5 12500H vs the Zenbook’s Core i5 1240p. The former is a higher wattage part which results in a lot more heat and battery drain. Conversely it does perform better in purely CPU-oriented tasks. I ran identical tests and the Vivobook performed better but the battery drain was huge compared to the Zenbook, and was a lot louder due to the higher fan speed trying to get rid of the extra heat. For normal use however I think the Zenbook has the better balance of performance to battery life and low noise.

    3. The screen hinges are slightly different. One’s not better than the other in my opinion but they are different. The Vivobook hinge is like a traditional laptop and just hinges back. The Zenbook hinges back and down which has the effect of lifting the back of the laptop up very slightly to aid cooling. As a result the screen sits visibly lower than the Vivobook (see attached images).

    4. The enclosures are very similar but slightly different. The Zenbook feels higher quality and more metal-like, the Vivobook I think has a plastic bottom and the screen bezels are plastic rather than glass. Keyboard/Trackpad seem all but identical between the two.

Hope this helps anyone choosing between the two!

Overall, I am absolutely blown away by the high quality of the Zenbook (and Vivobook). For the price charged they are an absolute steal and provide a lot of laptop for the money at a surprisingly high quality.
