At work, I usually connect a massive ultrawide with PbP or just two monitors to my laptop to have more screen space for apps. Using this Cable Matters adapter, it's a brand I have used before and this is compact and well built with plug and play function. WOrked on the USB-C THunderbolt port of my Chromebook no issue! Great pack in for a bag for traveling!

I love this adapter. Very well made. You can feel the quality in hand. It works flawless and doesn't get hot. It connects to any usb c device and outputs it to the hdmi ports. You can play movies on your phone and watch them on your tv. Since its dual ports you can watch on 2 tv's at the same time. Amazing product.

Save your eyes and extend your small scree
I received this USB-C to HDMI/DisplayPort adapter from Cable Matters and have nothing negative to say. While there may be cheaper options out there, I think this little guy is well worth the price due to its size and multiple support of video output that extends your laptop and/or other devices that can provide output through USB-C connections.

I’ve used this while traveling where bringing a larger docking station wouldn’t be practical and this helped me stay productive by using multiple screens, which is a must if you need to multi-task even when you are away from your usual setup.

I can’t comment on its durability, since this is mainly for travel and not my daily screen adapter, but I will be sure to update this review if I run into any issues.

Works great to add two DisplayPort ports to a compatible laptop or phone. Only complaint is that you can't charge at the same time, so works better with a device with two or more USB-C ports.

This was a fully plug and play device. I just plugged it right into my laptop, and plugged in two displayport cables, and it works perfectly. No drivers or software were needed. It's compact, the cord is a nice material and it very short so it won't tangle or kink. This is a quality product for sure.

When using a laptop this can be invaluable to attach an external monitor or sometimes two--this works well and high quality. I have no issues with it, highly recommend this unit in using with a laptop directly or a docking station with compatible port.

Great flexible option to ensure you can plug in- to laptops.. but not my phone
Make sure that if you are buying this for a phone or tablet; it supports video out via USB-C. Samsung calls this Dex I believe; but sadly my lower end Motorola phone does not support this- and this feature is what I purchased this for- a caveat is in order on the product page that phone support is required.

If you are traveling and need to be able to hook up to different types of display connections for presentations; this is an invaluable piece of kit.

I got this to use DisplayPort with my ThinkPad that only has HDMI and USB C. The additional HDMI port on the adapter is a bonus in case I use this for some other purpose, although the extra port makes it a bit bulky. One think to note is that you might not be able to see boot up screens, so this is really more for secondary monitors. This might be an issue/feature of my ThinkPad or USBC in general, but not sure. Seems to work fine otherwise. I was able to get 2K @144Hz, but don't have the equipment to test the limits.

At first I was a little taken by the small size of the adapter. After plugging it in to my laptop it only took a few minutes to configure 3 monitors. As a bonus, I tried plugging it in to my Samsung phone, to my surprise it recognized both monitors and turned the phone in to a touch pad. Cool stuff.

I have only used this on a windows based computer so I am not sure on how it will perform on a mac. But on a windows machine this is great. One thing to remember it is all based on your computer and what it can handle. I was able to use both outputs at 1080/60 plus using my screen and my computer was able to handle it perfectly fine. No jitters, no crazy installation, no crazy setup. You just plug in this adapter plus some HDMI cables and choose what you want the adapter to display and viola, you are done. I did try one output on a 4k TV and it worked perfectly fine. I was not able to find an 8K display so can not comment on that. The little slot to store the USB-C end is great that way you don't have to worry about the end getting caught on anything or getting squished. Overall it is great and small enough to carry in your backpack or your pocket.

The Proper Tool for the Job
This Cable Matters Portable 8K or Dual 4K 60Hz USB C to Dual DisplayPort Adapter connects a computer with a USB C port to a monitor or projector with DP input.
I like that it is so small in form but large in function…if it is the proper device for your setup. The size of this device is one of the nicest features…the USB-C plug and cable stow very well into a groove and makes this little cube pocket size.
There are very many exceptions to the application of getting dual monitors going…Mac verses Windows, system build date, ports available, etc.

This is a Product That Does What it Promises
If you’re in need of this type of item, this is the one for you.

I occasionally need to do a split monitor setup while traveling, and this dual display adapter fills the bill for me. I use it seamlessly on a Surface tablet, and it has very little delay upon activating, with no loss of quality in the dual displays…all while packed in a very portable package.

Cable Matters is one of my go-to companies, and this adapter doesn’t disappoint.

This is a really portable and solid display port adapter. Works well when working remotely and in a pinch. Using it with the two monitors the connection is stable, I don't notice any lag. I am working with a lenovo pc, so this works well with the Windows 11 OS for me. Worked all day with this with no loss in signal. Very happy with this.

Every AV tech needs this in their ki
I work as a audiovisual technician. I’m often setting up breakout rooms for conferences which include putting up projectors.

Once we get those projectors up it’s nice to have something on you that will allow for you to test the connection and ensure you’re getting a signal to the monitor. To do so I’ve been using this device connected to my iPhone 11 using a usb-c to lighting cable (you won’t need that extra cable for newer iPhones) allowing me to play a video from my phone and it displays on the projector.

This device also has a DisplayPort adapter which is perfect for when we’re using Apple products

ote you must have a Thunderbolt 4 port specifically on your laptop for this to work properly. I have one on my laptop, plugged it in, no drivers needed. Add 2 monitors to my laptop in minutes. Happy with my purchase.

Perfect for travel or an hybrid office with various monitor connections
Both the HDMI and the DisplayPort work wonderfully on this for a MacBook Air 2020 (M1). I have not had an opportunity to test if both work at once (the Air 2020 only supports one external monitor), but both adapter ports do work individually. I got this for my office as one of our hybrid users needed something that would work with her MacBook, but that would also support our monitor madness for whichever workstation she landed at for the day.

I also think this would be excellent for traveling as it has you covered for whatever monitor you are faced with.

I got this to solve some monitor issues with one of my Macs and, while I wasn't able to solve them, it is no fault of this adapter! It performed flawlessly, the same as if no adapter was used, ultimately the limitation/compatibility issue was (is) with my Mac. I love the highly integrated design, it is basically as small as I could imagine it, any smaller it would be difficult to handle. It has earned a place in my travel bag because you never know when it will come in handy!

Good USB-C to HDMI + Displayport adapte
Review for: “Cable Matters Portable 8K or Dual 4K 60Hz USB C to HDMI and DisplayPort Adapter – Thunderbolt 4 and USB 4 Compatible for DELL XPS, Surface Pro, MacBook (macOS only Supports one Extended Display)”

I use this for my Core I9 based Dell Precision 5575 to connect two monitors: A Samsung 4K and a LG 4K monitor.
Both monitor can connect with 4K @ 60 Hz with HDR on without any problem. It is a space saver for traveling the laptop, so we don’t need to bring the bulky docking brick.

It works fine for QHD and 4K, couldn't check the 8K output, but it is doing just fine running 2 extended 1080 desktops on my QHD laptop. No drivers, no setup for it - plug and play. Good build quality and it only gets a little bit warm. It's a lot smaller than I was expecting too, it's only about 3" across. The Type C plug is on a little 2" flat silicone cable and it tucks in to the box when not in use. I like it, it's a keeper.

Recently purchased a Mac Studio and was looking for a way to expand to my typical 2 display setup. After a failed USB-C to DisplayPort cable, I decided to give this a try. It did work and is definitely an option... but I will say that it's probably a better option for Windows users, as the info has pointed out. For Mac users, you can only mirror two displays if you want to use both ports. I used the Mac's built in HDMI for one and only the DisplayPort on this, which worked for an extended setup. The USB-C cable coming out of this box is very short and didn't flex well, which was an issue for where I had the Mac on top of my desk with the cables running down the back. I did end up going with another solution that worked better for me. I think this is an option that is more worth the price if you use Windows to utilize both ports.

I really like the form factor of this, it makes it very easy to travel with. The adapter works great and does manage to function at the resolutions and refresh rates as claimed. It's especially nice that it doesn't require a separate power source, like some do. I just wish this supported DisplayPort 2.1 with dual 4k 120hz, it seems like such a minor thing to add support for and has been out for a while now, but not many devices do it.

Short cable, windows/linux will get more features than mac but still usable for mac users
Windows/Linux users will get more use out of this than Mac users. The Mac hardware is creating a limitation this does not overcome. On a Mac, you can create a second display, and if you connect a second monitor to this, both will have the same image. Or, you can mirror you Mac to one or both connected displays. Combined with you mac and two displays, you will only get benefit of one extra. Windows and Linux, per the image included in the sellers descriptions, can see 2 different extra displays.

The cable is quite short, you can see that I had to twist a bit just because of the length of my HDMI pulling from behind my desk. But the compact nature of this does make for a neat travel companion where in a pinch having another display is helpful. This model reviewed is dual HDMI.

Didn't Work for my Older Compute
I was trying to add this device to a docking station that did not have a displayport. When I plugged it in, nothing happened. I also tried to plug an HDMI cable in and in that case nothing happened either. I tried it with various adapters and still could not get it to work.

Most likely the problem is on my side. I’m using an older HP desktop computer and running Windows 10. There is a displayport on the side, but no HDMI port.

There are issues with my specific USB – C ports; they don’t have the full functionality a newer computer would have. I tried to plug this device into a regular USB port with an adapter, but that didn’t work either.
I’m giving this a 4 star since it lacks some of the connectivity that I had hoped to achieve, but recognize from the reviews it’s working fine for other reviewers.

    Works Perfectly
I have a Surface Pro for my work computer, and it only has one USB Type A and one USB Type C ports. It has no video output.

When I’m working at home, I Ike to use my huge 49″ ultra widescreen monitor. I’d been using a Belkin DisplayPort adapter which was working fine when plugged directly into the monitor. I got tired of having to climb between my monitor to swap cables, so I decided to get a KVM to make switching from one PC to the other easier.

The KVM worked perfectly with my home computer which has a built-in DisplayPort jack, but when I tried my work Surface, I was getting flashing blocks of noise on the monitor. Something with the Belkin and the KVM wasn’t playing nicely with each other.

I really wanted to keep using the KVM, so I decided to order this adapter and see how it worked. I was going to get the dual DisplayPort model, but decided that I wanted HDMI for compatibility.

When it arrived, I was thrilled to see that the Cable Matters and my KVM got along together. My monitor is displaying perfectly, even at 240Hz.

I’m not sure what the problem was, but I can say that this one works, and the Belkin does not. The Belkin also cost around twice what this one did.

I also like that it is much smaller than what I was using before. This one is perfect for my work laptop because it takes up almost no space in my backpack.

If you’re looking for a DisplayPort adapter that works well, this is a good choice.

Not sure if it's the adapter or my laptop, but I could only get one monitor to display using the adapter. It could be that the USB-C port is underpowered, or that the onboard graphics can't handle two high-resolution displays. It does let me use a second monitor with a DisplayPort input using a USB-C port on my laptop however (my laptop doesn't have a DisplayPort; only HDMI), so I can use the built-in screen and still get a second display.

This HDMI and DisplayPort (DP) adapter is a good to have just-in-case item. It worked without issue with my 2023 laptop. There was a driver issue that prevented it from working on my 2017 laptop, but I'll blame the old hardware of the laptop. Both were running Windows 10. For the newer laptop, I verified that both the HDMI and DP ports worked. The only thing was that the DP port would extend the laptop screen, but the HDMI port would only duplicate the laptop screen for me. With monitors plugged into both the HDMI and DP ports, both monitors only duplicated the laptop screen. Overall, good to have just in case, but has not been fully capable for me.

    Small and convenie
As a remote IT professional, the one thing I cannot live without is my dual monitors. The DUAL adapter fits inside my go bag better than my other named-brand extenders. The size makes this a nice item and the tuckable USB C makes cable management a lot nicer.

While it is smaller than its competitors, it does so by not offering any additional ports. With that being stated, the price is a little steep for its limited use.

    Simple Effective Connectivity
I wasn’t completely convinced how handy this would be and how much I would make use of it.
For a very small simple device, it really produces a lot of display options between my many USB-C and HDMI display devices.
I started using it (plug and play absolutely) in meetings where I could advantage my presentation on multiple monitors.
That alone was worth the price of admission:)
In a business presentation, image quality and tech presentation reliability are essential.
This adapter hasn’t skipped a step.
The only negative is now that it’s an important tech part of my traveling seminar, it’s so small that I packed it in a custom cut out on one of my gear travel cases. you could easily forget that it was in some suit pocket?
The Dolby Atmos feature also works seamlessly in my multi display home theater.

It Works - Make sure the USB-C port supports video ou
I tested this on my Macbook Air and on a Windows laptop. It was able to output to both monitors simultaneously in both cases. But like the listing title says, MacOS apparently won’t allow you to extend beyond one monitor with this device. You can however output to two external monitors they just mirror each other. But they still extend the screen.

But also from my understanding, the USB-C port you’re plugging this into will require a so-called “Alternative Mode” that supports DisplayPort. (Apparently if it’s an HDMI out adapter, the signal from the computer is DisplayPort but converted to HDMI). This is probably the case for laptops but don’t be surprised if it doesn’t work on a desktop. I think USB-C ports that support video output are supposed to have a monitor or displayport symbol next to them, but my laptop doesn’t but it still worked. But on my desktop it wouldn’t work with any of the USB-C ports.

Works as intended but bad packaging
This works perfect. Simple small footprint makes it easy for me to just keep in my computer bag.

I present at a lot of different locations and often run into issues around displaying my PC. This certainly resolves that issue. Plug and play and was exactly what I needed.

Packaging is bad. There’s a adhesive tape around the product and when I removed it it left a lot of left over tape. Took a bit of goo gone and some rubbing to get it off.

Dropped a star just for that…seems like a packing flaw.

    Otherwise solid produc

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersOutputs dual 4k@60 8-bit signals. The time to activate the monitors doesn't seem any longer than if a single monitor is connected directly without this device, and the connection to both monitors is stable. If I had to nitpick, I would ask for another inch of cable, but then it wouldn't stow in side of the device properly, so it is a trade-off for the portability.
