Fun little game, easy to learn and in this variant it comes in a very compact, handy little tin. Was a really fun one to pull out of the bag during the Christmas holidays, as I travelled around to various family members. Not that it’s only fun on the move. It’s a fun game regardless!
Lovely little game that proves you don’t need a screen to have fun, and that there’s lots more to card games than gin rummy.
Have bought for my family and for friends as a gift.
True, the rules can seem a bit daunting at first glance, but they’re easy to remember after a couple of plays, the cards have notes on them to remind you what they do, and with loads of YouTube playthroughs you can get going in minutes if reading the instructions is too old school. I watched the Wil Wheaton Tabletop YouTube show and was convinced this wasn’t just a game for kids.
Note: I nearly cancelled my order as the Top review on Amazon says this is the Czech version, but that’s an old review from 2017. Now in 2021 it’s the tin box and English version.
Good quality. Fun game for all ages. Easy to learn. Heartily recommend it. Not just for parents & kids -it’ll be great for playing with friends when the kids are in bed.
Double the fun if you love sushi!
This is now one of our favourite family games. Great little card game and comes in a tin so gmeasy to take one holiday. We play it with our kids. We love the pictures on the cards. Super cute and cool.
It’s a simple and fun game. It’s very good for children and adults playing together at family gatherings etc. A family member recommended it and it’s definitely worth a buy. The case is very useful for children to store the game. Might buy another one as a present.
This game is so much fun! I admit we struggled a bit with getting to learn how to play but that could just be because my family is pretty slow with things! Once you pick it up it’s a really great game to play. Love love love it.
Its a very compact little game with lovely art work. You get points for creating combinations of sushi dishes that you get through a shared hand of cards you take turns drawing from. My daughter really enjoys it despite it requiring calculating numbers to work out your best moves .
We were recommended this game by a friend and we like it. It’s a good family game, which is easy to play after a couple of goes. We like the tin it stores in and would be good for taking on holiday.
Great little game, easy for kids and adults to understand (after a few rounds with the rulebook nearby)
The game gets more fun as players learn how the game works, and start to block other players etc.
The cards are high quality, nicely illustrated, and come in a lovely travel tin.
The instructions are easy to understand, and even have a “quick guide” on the back so you can look at a glance and answer questions players might have.
Was in two minds as to whether to get this or the party edition but decided the jump in price wasn’t worth it, it’s fundamentally the same game and it will be easier for my non-gaming friends and family to pick up.
And what a great little game it is! Everyone is raving about the artwork and portability so i’ll focus on the gameplay – it’s pretty well balanced with the target sets and the number of each card supplied and has the great drafting mechanic that makes it a lot more interesting than more conventional games. Cards and prints are fantastic quality, was pretty shocked at just how many cards they give you.
Only thing I would criticise is that the rulebook doesn’t quite explain things as well as I would’ve liked but I was lucky in that I’ve watched games being played and knew the basic gist of the game. Usual case of being told the specifics before the actual aim of the game and what you’ll spend a lot of game time actually doing.
Not played it with more than 3 people yet but i can imagine it’s just as good with even 5 or 6, and it’s not often you can say that. Adding more people will often slow a game down to a crawl or make it too chaotic but not here since you are constantly passing, choosing and receiving cards. I appreciate the additional 2 player rules but haven’t tried that yet, looked a bit fiddly on first read but I’m sure they spent a lot of time developing them.
My daughter was even besotted with it and played a few rounds with us, and she’s only 3 and a half. By the end she was understanding that she needed to make sets of the different families of cards and she was really proud of how many points we told her she’d made.
This is a really fun game that you can play with both children and adults. Nicely illustrated, easy to pick up and surprisingly strategic! We often finish off a board games night with a couple of games of this. Top tip: Don’t forget about the puddings…it can all be won and lost on puddings!
Great little game. Fast paced and lots of fun for children and adults. Different to lots of other card games because you pass your hand to the next player each go, having removed one card for yourself. There is strategy required to win. Only limitation is that you need to be able to hold and pass on a hand of cards. Possible but not great for those who need to play cards with a card holder. Everyone in my family loves this game.
This is a cracking little game and a new take on the old dynamic of set building. The fun comes from taking a card from a hand and then passing that hand on. This means you know what the next person could get and you are often left gambling on whether the card you need will make it all the way around, as you are only allowed to take one card at a time. Cards with varying values and combined values make this strategic but not overly so.
I think 8 is probably an over estimate as to the age group who could play this once you get the concept the game play comes easily and it becomes quite frenetic as you take the card you need then pressure people to move the hands round rather than give them time to think (with your children you won’t want to apply too much pressure).
We played this at work one lunchtime and everyone was sold on it.
The quality is excellent and someone said the cards actually had a Japanese feel too them 😀
Given the quality of the packaging, the number of cards and the sheer fun this is a good value card game, thinking about it it is also one where you could lose a card or two and it wouldn’t detract from the dynamic too much either.
Highly recommended!
We are a bit of a board and card game family. My kids do spend a lot of time with their devices but I like to research and buy fun games to get us round a table together. Most work, some don’t, and despite research i did wonder if this might be disappointing. I needn’t have worried! The game is nice and quick, 20-30 mins tops, and is played in 3 rounds, each scored with a final bonus score ’round’. If you aren’t used to some of the more funky games out there, then think Happy Families meets Old Maid but played in a Sushi bar!?!? Hmmm.. that might not have helped but essentially everyone is dealt a hand, you keep a card trying to make collections of scoring sushi dishes and then pass your hand to the player on the left getting the hand from the payer to your right. You keep going until you have no cards and then see what you have scored. The fun is from judging if you might get your hand back with cards you might need. Interestingly because of this game mechanic the game plays differently if you play with say 4 or 2. Great fun, a bit different and doesn’t take forever. Well worth the purchase
