I have a number of analogue devices that I’ve collected over the years, some of which have 3.5 mm jacks; old Walkman CD & tape decks, headphones and even an ION USB Turntable for converting my old vinyl to a digital format.
The Geosta Bluetooth 5 Transmitter/Receiver is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, and comes with a short cable with 3.5 mm jacks at each end. I have been testing this device over the last week to see how it performs, and how long it lasts.
My first test was with an old gaming headset, which I plugged into the 3.5 mm audio port on the Geosta, and my Samsung Smart TV. After charging the Geosta (didn’t take long as it’s only a small battery) and setting it to receive, I switched it on and let it start searching. I opened the sound menu on the TV and saw the Geosta there waiting to connect, which I then clicked. A female voice promptly confirmed the device was connected so I started watching TV. I was averaging 60 to 90 minutes an evening testing the connectivity and, other than 1 or 2 very short dropouts each session (less than a second each time) the audio was flawless.
The device is advertised as having a 6 hour use from a full charge, but in my test it lasted around 9 hours which is much better than expected. The only downside here is that there was no audio warning that the battery was about to die; it just stopped. There may have been a visual warning on the device itself but that was out of sight at the time.
My second test was to transmit, so I grabbed my ION USB Turntable, which I plugged the Geosta into, and an old vinyl record. I did have a little trouble with this part, but only because the Geosta tried to connect with every Bluetooth device in range, so it managed to connect to my phone headset and phone before I eventually got it to connect to my Bluetooth speaker. I don’t blame the device though for my failure to turn off Bluetooth on devices I didn’t want it to connect to. After I had connected to the speaker and spun up the vinyl, all was good.
For the price of this Bluetooth device (currently showing as 7.99) you can’t go wrong. Very much a bargain and a must-have for those with perfectly good suitable devices that just need a little help converting to digital.
Sound quality is good but there is that whining in the background that annoyed me
Charging is good speedy one. If you are ok with little whining background noise . This is good for you
Sound quality excellent, so small it’s very unobtrusive, and fits perfectly in the cigarette lighter. It’s perfect, I like the fact that I can switch it off, one button to switch on, and it’s just a great little gadget.
A good looking and sturdy unit. The Mic can be quiet if, like mine, your power point is low down but it is clear and doesn’t suffer too much from road noise. The radio signal is the strongest and clearest of any of these units I have owned. Bluetooth connectivity is swift and the audio confirmation clear. Power through the usb is very good. I get quick charging of my phone from the usb c and can power/charge 2 other devices as well.
Plug it into your accessory outlet, tune it to a reasonably clear fm channel and off you go. Well priced transmitter with all the outputs you could possibly need at the moment. Maybe a bit brash and gaudy but I do not spend any time looking at my aux port.
Superb little device that works straight out of the box. After plugging in and tuning the FM radio to a quiet frequency – I used the recommended one on the easy-to-understand instructions.
Paired an iPhone X and now able to listen to DAB stations or my music mix on the go. Easy as pie. Charging port works well as a bonus.
*Note*: People have moaned about the signal cutting out – this probably won’t be the fault of this transmitter but simply signal loss on your mobile. If you put your mobile under the dash, this will not help as it will be surrounded by metal. So position it higher on top of the dash to enable a clearer signal.
Love how easy it is to plug in a go, only tiniest dislike is that there is hissing over about 18 volume, but i remedy that by keeping device at 16 or 14 and then turning the car volume up as i would with radio
I bought a similar product many years ago when they first came out and it never worked so was nervous that this would be the same. However, technology has clearly advanced substantially since and it is fantastic, with clear sound, multiple USB adapters and everything I needed for our second car.
