Robust and Versatile Super Clamp for Photography
The product features stability that stands out due to its embedded design. As such, it has a high resisting factor that reduces deformation. The backpack has a maximum load capacity of five pounds, enough for different camera accessories.
This super clamp has standard 1/4″ to 3/8″ stud adapters; therefore it can be mounted onto any equipment such as cameras, lighting, flashes, or other types of LED lights. Made of solid aluminum alloy, it’s rust-, corrosion-, and impact-resistant with protective, highly elastic rubber pads.
It firmly closes at about 60mm (2.36 inches) and accepts different objects like cameras, lights, umbrellas, etc for use on round or flat surfaces. The package contains one super clamp, two standard stud adapters, one cold shoe mount adapter, and one hex spanner. This sturdy super clamp comes with a one-year warranty, which should prove useful for photography or video shooting.
Great quality and really secure
Superbly made and surprisingly light, this clamp is really secure and does a fantastic job.
It’s easy to tighten and loosen and really gives me a lot of confidence that nothing will move. The supplied 1/4 and 3/8 studs provided are just as good quality and really useful.
I would imagine this would have quite a few uses for people in different situations.
Happy to recommend.
Great Clamp
Very good quality clamp from Koqeiey made from good materials.
I have to say I am impressed with tis clamp. Made of aluminium alloy, it is a lightweight product, sturdy and good for attaching lights, or other things you might need. It opens wider than I thought it would which is always good, and the top clamp has a 1/4 to 3/8 metal stud.
Overall I am happy with the clamp.
stable and sturdy
It’s indeed well made and looks really nice, such a quality kit and I love the red and black blend! It’s great for photographing and actually many to attach or grip with a wide opening from 25mm to 60mm.
The aluminium alloy is of great quality, lightweight yet solid and feels robust to last.
Top clamp with 1/4 to 3/8 standard metal stud. I’m happy to recommend it.
The build quality is unreal. Everything fits together very nicely, it clamps down effortlessly
Had no problem holding up my GH4 or heavy dynamic mic on a selfie stick. It is definitely meant for more pole-like objects (will mark up weak tables if used without something between it) but I love how it’s really light and compact.
The only worry I have is the male-to-male tripod screws. the body is a bit small so if something’s on really tight it makes it harder to gain leverage + Being tall does increase the distance of the thing you’re mounting to the mounting point which might generate additional torque.
But overall well rounded and there is nothing that sticks out (except the male to male screws but those can be taken out/replaced) – it’s a solid produc
Good quality but not perfec
This is a very well made kit, great for your photography tasks, or even for attaching a lamp to grip onto a workspace. There are uses beyond photography, for sure. Having tested this, I thought it bettter for me to details some of the pros and cons I found:
PROS
– The clamp itself has a good opening range to it, up to 60mm
– There are fixing holes everywhere so you should be able to angle your camera, light flash etc., to meet your needs.
– Within the mouth of this device, there are soft rubber padded grips, so this will gently, firmly grab hold of the item it will fix to and do so without damaging or marking it.
CONS
– The red triangular handle will unscrew and come off completely if loosened fully. There is no stop to prevent this.
– The spigots, once tightened, hold whatever is attached to it at the angle it tightens. There is no adjustment other than loosening the spigot.
– When I had tightened the spigot, attached to my camera, I could not unscrew it without a set of mole grips. If you tighten it by hand that is enough to prevent it coming off by hand – poor threading.
– The components are supplied in a basic cardboard box. You would want them in a small pouch to place in your kit or camera bag. Nothing is supplied to store these together other than this cardboard box.
There are less expensive versions of this available, although I haven’t compared them for quality or content, but this one doesn’t tick all the boxes for me. Apart from the poor threading, causing the spigot to ‘stick’, I would like to see a ball connector included, so you can rotate your attached devices more easily, especially for the money. I think a basic pouch for storage would help too.
Multi-surface grip
Not often do you find a clamp that holds up against constant repositioning, especially with a DSLR in tow. This one holds its own. Stable and sturdy, it adheres well to different surfaces. The rubber mat prevents wear, but it could be stickier for a firmer grip.
Handy if you need camera or lights in awkward spots.
This seems like a nicely machined piece of kit if you need to place your camera where a tripod just won’t do.
The jaws open to 5cm. When fully closed the widest gap between the jaws is 2cm. The opening/closing handle has a design that enables an easy grip to tighten fully. Not sure that I’d trust it with the weight of a heavy camera/lens combination, but with lightweight cameras and small lenses it is perfectly ok – depending obviously on the position of the clamp & camera and the direction that gravity is pulling.
Each jaw has three pairs of threaded holes – one on each face. The pairs of holes are two sizes that match the threads on the ends of the two supplied pillars. These are standard photographic screw threads and so you could secure a camera directly to a pillar, though it would mean the removal of any tripod quick release plate. There are also threaded holes in the opening/closing handle.
Also supplied is a cold shoe that can be attached, with supplied screw, to any of the smaller threaded holes, handy for positioning speedlights in awkward spots.
The only problem with it is that is there is no built-in way to level the camera, you would need to attach a small ball head to one of the pillars to have any hope of getting the camera level and at this point it starts to get a little unwieldy.
Great clamp - solid and well made. The stud/spigots not that flexible though
This clamp is solid and well made. The big red knob is easy to turn so you can get a very secure lock (or unlock) and it holds onto objects very well.
I’d probably say the clamp on its own is worth 5 stars, but the studs or spigots that come with it, although solid and well made, don’t allow for adjustments of angle.
That means that when you tighten them onto an object, as I did with the LED light in the video, you end up with an angle that may or may not be what you need. There’s no easy way to adjust that.
It’s easily dealt with by using a different kind of mount in the mounting holes – a magic arm or swivel headed screw adaptor would work.
But as provided, those spigots do not allow a secure “lock” and position adjustment so they are less flexible than I would want for my uses. For that reason I’m giving 4 stars.
The clamp, on the other hand, is really well made and a pleasure to use.
Good Quality Super Clamp, But A Tad On The Expensive Side.
This ‘Super Clamp’ arrives well packed in a plain brown, unbranded cardboard box. Inside the box is the clamp itself, a 1/4″-20 male to male stud adapter, a 1/4″-20 to 3/8″-16 stud adapter, cold shoe mount and screw, and a hex key.
The unbranded clamp is well made and has a good finish throughout. Made of aluminium alloy, it feels robust whilst remaining relatively lightweight, and should prove durable.
The metal locking nut is easy to grip, and turns smoothly when tightening and loosening the clamp.
The clamp has several mounting sockets built into it, not all of which are labelled in the description photos. In total there are 14 x 1/4″-20 sockets and 7 x 3/16″ sockets. 6 of the 1/4″-20 sockets are in the locking nut handle (3 on one side and 3 on the other), as a result 3 of them may not always be accessible. Two of the 1/4″-20 sockets and two of the 3/8″-16 sockets have Arri compatible location holes.
The detachable cold shoe mount and adapter studs are also well made. The cold shoe mount can be attached to the clamp using the included hex key to tighten the 1/4″20 socket head screw. My only complaint is the screw is not designed to remain in the mount, so is easy to lose when you aren’t using the mount.
In use the clamp works well and does the job it was designed to do. It grips securely and provides a stable platform onto which to attach other equipment, either directly or through the use of the studs, magic arms, etc.
In conclusion this is a well made, versatile, easy to use clamp. Except for wishing the screw was retained in the cold shoe mount instead of being loose, there is nothing about the product itself that’s not to like. However, although well made, I can’t help think the current price of 37.99 is a little on the high side.
