Top Rated Dash Cam for a reaso
Easy to fit and route cable. Bought with the plug-in rear view camera but wasn’t great with my small rear window so removed (not its fault). Records good quality footage with number plates being readable (not always the case with others). Never needed the footage (touch wood) but comforting to know it is there.

    It just works
Works exactly as described, easy install too.
One small annoyance when downloading videos, it limits how many you can download at once but no big deal, just seems like a restriction for the sake of a restriction.

    DAB interference.
Great cameras, just be advised mount the front camera away from your DAB receiver, in my car, the black dots along the top of the windscreen either side of the rear view mirror console, otherwise your DAB will cease to function properly .
Just keep cutting out, very annoying . As with other reviews, stick pads, ain’t that sticky, that’s how i know about the interference, it fell off the screen, the ice started working agai

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersGood picture quality
This is the second Nextbase dash cam I have purchased. The first is 322 fitted to my daughters car. I have punched the 622 for my car. I find setting things up on my iPhone difficult because of my sausage fingers so used my iPad. The setup was straightforward and the camera carried out a firmware update. Time and date transferred from the iPad. The default settings are good but I did change a couple of options. I purchased the wired rear camera option. I installed this in a new car and it was quite simple. I used the cigarette lighter power supply supplied with the camera, not wanting to interfere with the new cars electric system. Routing the rear camera wire was a little more challenging but ok. I have been suppressed that the cable can be routed along the roof lining and cover trims with ease. When fixing the rear camera to the rear window make sure you stick the fixing in between the window heater elements. The sticker is oval so it should fit ok. My car is a hatchback so it’s important to ensure the camera is placed in a position that the wiper clears the glass. I have checked the results of the recordings and I am very pleased with the picture quality. I am still testing and fiddling with the odd setting but I am very pleased with camera. Just a note, I could not understand one option and emailed Nextbase. They emailed back with the answer, all very good.

Hard to see when recording .giving a sound when recording starts or ends but are the same the setup is a bit tricky . Using wifi to see the fotages from app but the standby mode way to short and cuting off connection after a minute or so software wise is a bit slow and outdated . Overall is a good product probably not worty the price like none of the others

But save your self some money by not getting this rear view add on because unless you mount the main camera right in the middle of your windscreen it’s view is either blocked by the interior mirror or the passenger sun visor. The only way I can see this working legally is in a left hand drive car, and even then the passenger sun visor would block the view

After an absolute mong almost wiped me out on the A40 some months back I got home and researched the best reviewed dashcams money can buy. I usually wouldn’t spend this kind of money on myself but let’s face it – there are dangerous drivers everywhere, people without insurance, and accidents happen all the time. I feel so much better knowing if something happened, it would all be recorded and I’d be covered – otherwise it’s your word against theirs and you’ll get nowhere. When you consider the cost of car insurance these days, and how much you could lose from a hit and run driver – spending on something like this is worth it and everywhere I looked this brand came reviewed top. The only downside is that due to what this is worth I keep taking it indoors whenever I park up which is a nuisance but better that then coming back to a smashed window and no dashcam. It’s also magnetic and easy to remove unlike cheap clips that break after a while.

Great camera, highly recommended. Planning to buy another for the second car. I was told the camera suppirt upto 128GB, However I’ve been using a 500GB without any issues.

My 2 issues with the cam is the software for the mobile.

Yes you can download the videos to your phone however you can only access the footage through the app.

There’s no seek feature in the app, you have to go back and find each files. Would be nice to go seek from 1 video footage to the next without having to find individual files.

UPDATE: Now in the app you can download videos to your phone and access outside the app.

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersThe best cam with no compromise features
I tried the 522 but was dissatisfied with the results.
There were more instances of not being able to make out a plate than when you could.
One thing you should know, with any other model, attaching a rear camera reduces the resolution of the front camera. Or the rear camera is so low you can’t make out anything.
With this camera you can have 4K and 1080P on the rear.
Instructions are not completely clear on the settings for auto off if you hard wire, but trial and error works out.
Night vision is better than any other.
If you are looking at the range and trying to decide, there is a price gap to this camera.
Is it worth it, no, but do you need the extra and better features, if you are looking at the range then yes rather than just sticking a camera in your car to tick a box.
This camera with get you the footage and details you need.

Golden Review Award: 27 From Our UsersIgnore all the negative reviews. This is a flagship dashcam and performs as such!
The video quality both day and night is fantastic. I have the 622GW running 4k30fps in the front and the rear window camera in the rear at 1080p30fps. Both are clear and sharp, especially the front one at 4k. Number plates and signs are easily read.

The enhanced night vision mode which the camera automatically switches to when needed is brilliant. The polarised filter on the front is also a huge bonus.

I’m impressed at how well it just works out of the box, parking mode is perhaps my only complaint with it saving a locked file every single time I get in the car as the g sensor is overly sensitive however with a 128gb card, you can just format it every month or week to stop the locked files filling up your card and I’d rather it too sensitive and not recording when someone hits my car gently enough to cause damage but not activate many other dashcams.

The hardwire kit is a must for me, the battery of the camera has so far performed very well however with tit being constantly charged and discharged I can’t see this being the case forever so I think it’s worth the piece of mind to hardwire it to your car’s battery.

The camera takes good quality photos even at speed which is also nice, possibly a handy feature for some though I can’t think of any situation I’d use it as I’d prefer a video or would just screenshot the video for a still image.

The mic is good, perhaps a little quieter than some cameras but it’s clear and road noise isn’t bad at all, it picked up my horn, voice and other horns and such within reasonable distance of the car. Remember you are in a sound insulated box of metal on wheels so don’t expect miracles.

The speed and GPS readings built into the camera is brilliant. They overly nicely into the bottom of videos alongside your number plate and camera model.

I’ve not used the app much but it’s worked flawlessly when I have. Downloading videos via WiFi was very quick and easy as was live view mode and watching back videos showing telemetry and map location data.

The camera has never crashed except when I removed the SD card without stopping the camera recording which is honestly expected and a simple reboot instantly fixed it. I was also pleased to find the only video that was corrupt was the one recording at the time which is good as other dashcams I’ve had have corrupted every single file on the card when doing this causing me to lose a lot of footage, fortunately nothing I needed.

The rear camera also doesn’t reduce the max resolution of the front camera which is great to see as many do this and it’s very frustrating.

I’d strongly recommend the camera with the rear camera if you want great quality footage. The steep price is worth it. The camera feels durable, is well thought through, built well, works well and is very user friendly.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersVery very good quality, BUT ....

    Original review:-
    ——————————
I’m giving this camera 8 out of 10 as it’s build quality is excellent, it has a great clear touch screen the audio is ok and (in my case) pairing the Alexa app on my phone and my car radio (via Bluetooth) makes it quite useful as I can find out if there are any problems on the roads I will be traveling on, also another good feature is the ‘What3Words’ app for pinpointing your location, I know this might be a gimmick to sell the product but for me I do use it as I do a lot of Walking/hiking and if I park somewhere I haven’t been before one click and I can find that place again to within 3 meters.

The only thing I’m NOT happy about is, it doesn’t matter what resolution I set the camera to, it doesn’t show number plates at night unless your directly behind the vehicle, if your on a motorway any vehicle either side of you (if you was in the middle lane) is not legible, this maybe down to my settings as I’m still playing around with things, if I get it sorted I’ll update this review.

All in all I’m very happy with it.

    ——————————
    Update:-
    ——————————
The spec sheet says 1080p@120 fps, this was NOT possible with the camera I purchased, not a big deal but if you’re told it can do something that it can’t then it’s a false claim, I sent it back after about 5-6 weeks as the screen kept freezing randomly for no apparant reason, this happened about 8 times while I had it and you don’t really notice when it happens as obviously you’re watching the road not the camera, I had to remove the power cable and let the battery run flat as that was the only way of turning it off (pressing the button or the screen did nothing), I did notice a reset button when packing it up for return but I don’t know if that would have turned it off & on again or reset all the settings back to default even so the button is that small and discrete you would need something like a paperclip to press it so not practical or safe to do whilst driving.

The quality of the image and sound are second to non but as other reviewers have mentioned the camera freezes and I just thought it maybe a bad batch so took the risk, for now I’m dash camless but if they fix the problem I maybe persuaded to give it another chance.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersExcellent!
I’ve had forward facing dashcams in the past that have initially done a pretty good job for the short time I’ve had them.
However, although these might be pretty well priced and do a decent job for sub 100, they’ve never lasted that long.
My last one managed 2 years before starting with problems with its suction mount, causing problems with my 64Gb SD card, and finally its charging connection started falling apart.
So having read up about several makes/models, I took the plunge with buying this 622 4K, with the optional rear facing camera.
Impressed is a bit of an understatement.
    It’s excellent.
The image quality at 4K is stunning. The forward facing camera can record at various HD settings, upto 4K 30fps.
Because this bundle includes the rear camera, I bought it.
The rear only records at 1080p, full HDand to be honest, it’s good enough to see what’s going on behind, including those dangerous drivers who insist on tailgating.
The software from Nextbase to view your recordings, is also very good and both camera recording can be viewed very easily.
I particularly like the strong magnetic mount connections, meaning that you can leave the mounts permanently in place, and just attach/detach the cameras with ease.
Installation was easy. Only took 20 – 30 minutes to connect both.
Just take your time in hiding the wiring. It’ll be worth it in the end.
    One final thought.
As the camera does record in 4K, not only do you need a large capacity micro SD card (I’d advise at least a 64Gb one), but you need to follow Nextbase’s advice on the type.
And don’t be tempted to buy a cheap unbranded one. It’s false economy.
The seller was very good to deal with.

Great 4k dash-cam with expansion capabilities
Superb true 4k dash-cam. Three optional rear view cameras are available (two in-cabin and one for the tailgate).

Large f1.3 lens means great low-light capabilities.

Will update my review again soon, as I have just installed these in two cars.

Golden Review Award: 34 From Our UsersGood quality camera, disappointing upgrade
I upgraded from a 612GW (The previous 4K version that Nextbase sold) and found that the new model wasn’t leaps and bounds different from the old model. With benefit of hindsight I should probably have skipped this model.

    Why?

    The picture quality
Whilst sharp, seems to have a colour balance issue (when viewed on the LCD screen). Images seem to have a (very slight) red tinge to them – the pictures on my old 612GW seemed a lot more natural. The angle of view is slightly narrower at 140 degrees compared to the 150 on the 612GW.

    Poor Alexa integration
I was sucked in by the Alexa integration – unfortunately for me, I only seem to get audio from Alexa when my phone is plugged into the car USB and set to Apple Car Play. Seems a bit excessive to have Siri and Alexa vying for your attention. I was hoping that the camera would connect to my phone and then whenever I asked Alexa something then the audio would be automatically broadcast to the car speakers via the normal phone-car bluetooth like a phonecall. Doesn’t seem to work like that

So the key gimmick of this camera is a bit of a washout for me.

    Color of camera
Being a light Aluminium/Titanium coloured brushed metal finish – it’s quite obvious from outside the car that you have dashcam stuck on your windscreen. I would have prefered it if Nextbase had made this more stealthy black to keep prying eyes and opportunists away. The bright white model number on the side of the lens is not great in this regard either.

What if you’re buying your first or upgrading from a (much) older camera?
    Good Quality
This camera is great quality – there’s a real solidity to it and the accessories that are supplied.

    Sturdy mount
The magentic mount on the front of the camera is now easier to remove so that you can hide the camera away when not in use, but be warned – the magnet is very strong. You have to twist the camera to pull the camera off the mount – upsetting when you’ve positioned the camera just so that it’s got that perfect balance of car and sky…

    Low profile mounts
The new mounts (suction or adhesive) are low profile compared to older models which means the camera doesn’t hang half way down your screen when mounted

    Good app and Easy setup
The menus on the camera are a bit difficult to navigate but settings easy to change. You can alternately use the app for your phone to change settings

    Polarising filter on lens
By simply twisting the small filter on the front of the lens you can reduce reflections from your windscreen – it doesn’t get rid of all reflections but it definitely helps

All in all, a great camera but probably not worth upgrading if you have a previous gen 4K.
