Fantastic portable hob!
I ordered this hob as a standby for Christmas day, as my electric halogen cooker is very temperamental and I didn’t want to risk it not coming on, as I was hosting on the big day.
As it happened my cooker didn’t let me down however, I decided to test out the portable hob.
Well…. it did not disappoint! It has a large ring and a smaller one which are the same size as on my cooker.
The rings heat up speedily and has variable heat settings. There is no On/Off setting, but the setting Min turns the hob off. The price is also exceptional at under 40 pounds.
I have also noticed that I am using the hob more regularly now to cook food, rather than using the big cooker to heat up just one of the halogen rings.
I’m very pleased with my purchase and would highly recommend this product!
Moved into a new house with no fully fitted kitchen, bought this mini hob to get me through a few months while getting the work done. Works really well, very good value for money, I’ve been able to cook everything as I would on a normal hob.
Perfect Portable Hob
Hob works wonders, takes nearly double the time to heat up than a normal hob but considering it’s a portable one, it works better than what I was expecting it to.
My elderly Mother was having difficulty carrying hot saucepans from the hob to the sink to drain them. The solution was this dual hob. It’s not complicated just turn on and adjust to required temperature. We put it closer to the sink and it’s now saving my mum from a possible nasty accident. No brainer for a simplicity purchase.
This hob has come in really handy lately as we’ve just moved house and are undergoing extreme kitchen renovations (no oven/hob). This hob easily plugs into the mains, is nice and compact, has 2 hot plates (1 bigger and the other slightly smaller) and is super easy to use. You can control the heat output of each individual hob independently which is a nice touch. Heats a regular sized saucepan easily and efficiently. The unit is easy to clean as it’s just stainless steel. I’d absolutely recommend this product if you’re lacking an oven hob. It’s also reasonably priced too, in my opinion.
When you buy this it has something in it to protect it while travelling. The instructions tell you that the first time you use it these will burn off. Be warned they do create a small amount smoke when doing this which can be a bit alarming. It is best done outdoors, or in a very well ventilated place. I think other reviewers may have not read the instructions and assumed this was a dangerous fault. It does make me wonder how portable it really is as after you do the burning off thing it clearly no longer has the travelling support.
We used it for a few months while we had our kitchen knocked down and a new one built. As such we had it in and out of the box every day, but didn’t really travel with it. It seemed to survive and is still working well enough that we will continue to keep it. It’s not as powerful as our old gas hob or the fitted induction hob we now have, but it is plenty hot enough for frying and boiling.
The two temperature control nobs, don’t seem to have an off position. They go down to 0, but I get the impression that if it got really cold they would still come on. As such I wouldn’t feel happy leaving it unattended without switching off at the plug.
All told though I was pleased with this purchase and would recommend it to others.
