So first to declare that I was gifted this product. However, there was no obligation to write a review. And I wanted to ensure that my review was authentic and unbiased.
I have been using two other car chargers – one was inexpensive, with an extension for the rear of the car. The other more expensive, with power delivery, from a big name charger/power brick company. Both had their uses – the PD charger charged my laptop, which was impressive. I had also tried to set up a bluetooth dongle with a wired connection to my stereo, but there was a lot of hiss from the in-car electrical interference.
So…to this Sonru device. I have had the chance to test it over 10 hours of driving. Setting up the FM connection was easy: choose a vacant frequency, which will vary from country to country. Connection via bluetooth was also very quick and easy. So I had my iPhone playing through bluetooth-FM to my car stereo. Sound was really good (at least, for my 20 year old Audi car stereo!). I then pushed the Sonru device a little harder. I had my iPhone charging via a USB A to C cable. And I was charging my MBP via USB Power Delivery. the MBP was tethered to my phone hotspot, and playing YT videos/music while using satnav on the phone. This was for 10 hours solid. Both iPhone & MBP charged up, and then held full charge. The Sonru device stayed cool throughout – which is impressive because my big name PD charger (which, admittedly, is a higher wattage PD output) actually gets warm.
I haven’t had chance to test the USB music storage feature. A button on the side allows you to cycle through various colours, static or “breathing”. I had it set to “off”. I’m not keen on distracting lights in the car.
So, it now turns out that this is going to be my full-time charger/audio transmitter, it works so well
Works really well,sound is great for the music and hands free, very easy to connect,,the bass boost button is good feature to if you a bass monster like me 10/10 you won’t be disappointed with this fm transmitte
It says as its advertised. Great product loving it. The call quality is brilliant and the bluetooth connection is stable, it switches to USB automatically after end of a call.
Amazing piece of tech with high bass option. Wish that it has a memory card option too but nevertheless does what it’s supposed to do like high speed charging and quality music. Definitely a buy if you want to upgrade your old car with new tech.
Very satisfied with new FM transmitter, it’s tiny and very comfortable to use in my car. Installation was very easy. It connects with my phone quick and now I can enjoy my favourite music in my car. Good quality. Thank you!
Have an old car which doesn’t have the best stereo and needed something to allow me to stream music, and answer calls when driving.
Looked for something that would let me do this and for this little unit.
Really easy to use and the 2 charging points mean we can have an iPhone and Android cable plugged in permanently.
Def recommended, and useful when going abroad too for hire cars.
I made the right choice in this 12v car adapter, it powers my Samsung usb projector from my car cigarette lighter socket while I’m out and about. This means my projector can be powered straight from my car enabling me to watch movies outside with a huge screen. I can now host my own private drive in movies almost anywhere. This was well worth the price.
This is really good, I am surprised actually, It has the new Bluetooth 5.3 connection to phone and much better FM transmission, I can go full volume on my car’s speakers and there is no loss of sound which is really nice, in the old ones you usually hear cracking sounds etc.. ( in the video I attached you hear some but that is my hands touching the phone while in video not the sound from speakers), it also shows battery voltage which is nice, and you can change the songs by pressing the button on top of it (which means you don’t have to touch your phone which is illegal when driving anyway)
at this price it is insane not to buy and I know some people buy new cars just because of a screen in the middle with google car play etc.. but really, you just need this to listen to some good music, rock on!
This is a very good fm transmitter. It has 4 usb charging points, and 2 of them are for usb c fast charging. You can also use a memory stick with music (up to 64gb) and it will play music from it with no issues.
