This is my 4th Tapo unit purchase. Easy to install and connect via the Tapo app, high quality images. Don’t forget that you will need an micro SD card if you want to be able to keep and review archive footage. I purchased a 512GB card which cost more than the camera!
Brilliant.Amazing for the money. Full colour or B&W at night. Pan&Tilt (no Zoom) but it does track and follow the movement detected. Easy to play back images and vids. Has audio if you need it. Comes with a power supply and works tirelessly from the router or can be hardwired. You will need to buy an SD Card. Great images for just 45

Super fast delivery from Amazon. Item itself very easy to install once you plan for power source location etc. Set up very easy and quality of image, pan, tilt, AI detection and notifications are all high end. Really happy with product overall and the addition of alarm and spotlight are very good. The two way speech is good but in my case I mounted camera up under eaves and when I talk back it is a little low, but the microphone on camera picks everything up perfectly and can be volume controlled. The panoramic view is great and the Patrol mode is also very good. App easy to use but lots of function on it so it does take a little getting used to. That being said its a very good app.No problem recommending this product. My installation took roughly one hour from start to finish with all functionality operational. Its 5 ***** all round from me.

We now have two of these cameras, one at the front of our house and one at the rear. They were eay to set up following the instructions. You can set up alerts but this got a bit annoying as normal movements set up an alert each time the unit is triggered so was switched off. The camera can tell the difference between humans and other motions (birds, cats and nightime rainfall etc) which is good. No need to pay for cloud storage although that is available as it stores video on a micro usb memory card. Nighttime the camera works very well and if you use the app on your phone you can turn on its light and results will be in full colour. It seems odd when the camera tracks and follows a human around giving a tremendous coverage. You can also set up pre-set positions for the camera to view or even patrol. We don’t use the patrol feature but do use the presets. Very good value and we have just bought our daughter one for her new house.
Now first of all let it be known that I’m an absolute technodinosaur so anything involving Wi Fi, Internet and related issues is a foreign country to me. Having said that, this camera was a doddle to set up. App was easy to navigate and all pairing issues went like clockwork. The camera itself is excellent. Clear video and audio and picks up motion and persons even on low (3) sensitivity. Access to video clips on the app is straightforward. I’m using a 128 Gb card and there seems to be loads of storage and with loop recording the camera just records over earliest recordings. Owing to my total inability to understand smartphone technology and connectivity to the camera I’m left with one irritating issue which does not diminish my review of the camera, merely emphasises my down comings. The phone gives an audible notification of motion detection which is picked up on my Garmin watch. Yes, I completely get the irony of a techno numpty having a smart watch but it alerts my wife if and when I fall off my bike, an increasingly more common event these days. Consequently, as I live on a fairly busy thoroughfare the accursed phone and watch conspire to annoy me by audibly alerting me each time someone walks past, which is the camera’s function, but is somewhat distracting when it does so every couple of minutes. There is undoubtedly a way of switching off notifications, but it is thus far out of my area of competence to find it. Nevertheless, a cracking piece of kit and for the price an excellent buy.
Update. After a few months of use I continue to be impressed by this camera. You get used to the notifications and find them useful after a while. The video quality is very good. I must, though, give a resounding thumbs up to Tapo Customer Support. They are second to none in my opinion. I’ve contacted them a couple of times on technical issues and their response has been swift and efficient. Answered my questions with expertise and straightforward advice. Excellent.
I’m so very impressed with this camera. It’s got some brilliant features and yet it’s such a great price. It’s the easiest thing ive ever set up in my life, once you have chosen your wi fi it pretty much sets itself up. I love the fact that the camera tracks and follows people and when it’s dark 2 little spotlights come on so you can see in colour. The quality of the recording is brilliant and the audio is also very good. I have put a 128gb micro sd card in mine which I find is fine for the amount of recordings I get every day although you can have up to 500 gb. There’s lots of options to choose from to tailor the camera to your specific needs. I’m so impressed with it I decided to buy another one for the other side of my bungalow, it’s like having 2 mini robot security guards the way they move and look around
Perfect outdoor camera
I have been using it for more than a month now. Its a very good and perfect product. Since it’s 360 degree rotation, it works exactly, the motion sensors and person detection is just awesome, clarity is amazing. Video quality is superb. I would definitely recommend this product. I took the cloud storage (additionalpurchase) but things are pretty smooth for me. Easy installation and easy to use app. 5 stars from my experience so far. I even traveled out of town and I was able to access and see the live video even when traveling.
I bought this camera not to use with the Tapo ecosystem, but actually to add to an existing IP camera security system (a Synology Security Station), and I’m pleased to say it worked out of the box. The picture quality is pretty good during the day, and night vision benefits from bright IR LED’s so it’s more than capable. The camera supports both wifi and ethernet, however do bear in mind the ethernet connection doesn’t support PoE, so you’ll need to run a seperate power cable. Helpfully, the power cable is super long for the camera, but it’s unfortunate that there’s no PoE support.
Even if you’re not using the Tapo app to control/record with it, you can easily set up the camera and hand it off to your own NVR. Pan and Tilt is a nice bonus, and works outside of the Tapo app. The camera presents excellent value for money, but loses a star for having ethernet without PoE support!

Cheap, good image quality, easy-ish to set up, app works well, two way comms, all the features you need.
This is my second, I am using two, it wasn’t a replacement.

Good little camera
I got this as I have some indoor ones for the pets and they work well. We would have liked a wider angle lens to cover the whole garden, as you are restricted on location with having it plugged in.
It is also sensitive to rain so it records a lot when it’s raining at night, but that’s not a big problem.
Simple set up and easy to use
I have only just started to use this camera. I have to say after downloading the app it was easy to set up. Images seem to be ok, not tried it at night yet though, so may get a different experience.
Good for a baby monito
This is a good camera, ideal for a baby monitor. However I have it set up and in privacy mode in my room, awaiting the arrival of my baby and I occasionally see the camera flash red twice which really freaks me out and I can’t seem to figure out why it flashes red. It’s really unsettling and it sometimes makes me feel like someone is watching even though I’m the only person with access to the camera
Overall good
The camera has a good picture clear picture both day and night.
Good range of movement which isn’t to loud when readjusting.
App is straight forward.
The lights however are slightly bright if using as a baby monitor, I had to turn off the status light.
Also the wall mount is the hardest thing to remove once you’ve clicked it into the camera, I really hurt my hands trying to un-attach it, this part of the camera really needs changed by manufacture.

great camera for the price, not so good if you live on a busy road, the car headlights reflecting etc cause the camera to look at the reflection’s in the detection area, once its looking / tracking an object then it keeps looking until motion stops for 2 mins (minimum setting) rain is also a problem in night mode as it see’s the raindrops and try’s to follow them, still overall a great camera….
Fabulous customer care
This is a great camera for the price – we use it in the kitchen to “spy” on our dogs when we are out of the house!!
I need to praise the customer service, especially Bryant Chacon, who expedited a solution to my wife throwing away the packaging whilst I was away – along with the base and fixings to attach the camera to the wall / ceiling! Bryant and his team dealt with our mistake in a professional and speedy manner and there is a free replacement base on its way to me right now!!
Brilliant gadget and security device
I am really happy with this Tapo security camera. I have positioned it indoors, behind glass, to monitor the cars parked in the front garden. It works well and allows me to check a live video feed using the Tapo app on my iPhone. I have set mine up to record to an SD card when it detects people in the shot which works well.
The video feed works fine at night as long as you DISABLE night mode (in my case, at least). Enabling night mode lights an infrared beam which, when used behind the glass of a window, reflects and ruins the picture.
This is a great product and I intent to buy more.
Protects while I'm away.
I was actually at home one Christmas Day when a burglar tried breaking into my apartment while I was getting ready to go to a Christmas family gathering. I have this device set up in the lounge so I can see if anybody breaks in while I’m away, and get a notification on motion detection. I can view the room on my smartphone from anywhere, and control its direction from the phone. A great piece of technology that gives me peace of mind while I’m away.
Great for watching my fish while I'm on holiday
Bought to monitor my fish while I’m on holiday and make sure the automatic feeders are all working. Mounted to the underside if a shelf and find it very useful to just be able to check on them at all times. Its got great night vision, great motion detection and decent picture quality at 1080p. Eeds configuring in the app to stream 1080p though. Sd card slot helpful too. Would reccomend
Excellent camera
This camera is easy to use and has excellent vision quality. I have it inside my house on the windowsill as I have nowhere to put it outside and have the mains cable reach the mains but this suits me perfectly and cannot be tampered with

This is an amazing camera for the price, extremely easy to set up! Took me about 5mins. I love the fact that you can talk through the camera and also set motion alarms! It also give you the option to create a cloud storage account to store your recorded data for small cost, or you can simply insert your own SD card. You can also buy multiple and connect them all to your devices. If your thinking about it go for it!
Great picture quality
East to use. Get notifications on my phone. Took movement off as lights going round a corner kept setting it off. I don’t use night mode as have a street light outside.
Love that you can move camera 360 degrees and you can talk through it.
Only slight problem is at night if I turn light on in room you get a bit of glare on camera.

I actually bought this and placed it in my close. Kids or neighbours have been vandalising things in my close. Now no matter where I am. I am alerted as soon as motion is detected. It will auto record when this happens so I don’t have to keep it on record. Which saves alot of space on my SD Card and cloud storage.
They could always vandalise the camera. But that would be a bad idea since it would record them doing so and back it up to cloud.

Liked it so much ordered another a day after recieving my first.
And it works on 5ghz, despite some saying it doesn’t l think they confuse it with the Tapo C200, in fact when l bought it l had no idea what ghz it worked on, wasn’t until l had set it up l saw comments saying it didn’t work on 5ghz, only 2.4ghz, well it does work on 5ghz.
Got a cracking black Friday deal for two of these and an internal one including 3 memory cards for 125 what’s not to like.
I mounted both external ones at high level on corners under roof eaves so you can set cameras through 270 degrees. This has pushed them to the limit of the WiFi connection which can occasionally get a little glitchy. The internal one is in same room as the router and is faultless. The audio is not good but can be used with a bit of eh and what plus the time delay doesn’t help.
Picture quality is amazing even at low light. Most nights the external cameras are in colour and the internal camera only switches to infrared once the room lamp is off.
Instructions simple enough but need a little bit of gumption to set everything thing up installing apps etc which all takes time so you are not going to up and running in 5 mins and there are a few menus to learn to navigate through.
Would I recommend them.. Hell yes it was great to see the dog whilst we were away over Christmas and New year.

I bought this camera after doing lots of research to keep an eye on my new dog when I was out of the house. I am so impressed. Easy to set up (and I’m rubbish with technology!) and the quality of viewing is amazing. Great to be able to move the camera around remotely to watch what they are up to. Quality of images is superb as is the sound. App is super easy to use. Have now bought 4 of these for protection to cover my whole house and I’ve bought an outdoor one too to cover the front of the house although haven’t set that up yet. I pay for the subscription which is very reasonable (although it does go up for each camera you have). Honestly, couldn’t praise this highly enough (and no I’m not being paid or anything to write a positive review – this is my genuine opinion).

For setting up on my Android phone, I had to manually connect to the camera’s Wi-Fi before it would my phone could “see” it. Getting the SD card in was a little tedious too.
Make sure one formats the SD card (sold seperately) in the Tapo app after inserting it into the camera. I made the mistake of thinking I needed to format it first on my computer.
I have the camera monitoring my first garden. The motion/line detection literally detects ANYTHING, which also includes rain in night vision. I was getting notifications every few minutes, even on the lowest sensitivity setting. So for me, this is not viable. 🙁
I only have notifications for people detection and camera tampering only. The AI is very smart, a little too smart. Any shadow (e.g. from car lights at night) that looks any way like a person is detected. Voices are also detected as a “person”, even when not in the camera’s view.
Those are the cons out of the way.
I love having the option to buy a subscription and having the recordings on the cloud. But also not having to get a subscription just to use the camera. I also love having the option of just storing it on the SD card and downloading the recordings to my device. The recordings loop, so the oldest ones get deleted first when it’s fun.
I like that I can set an alarm with either a small flashing white light or a siren/tones, or both when it’s detecting a person. Will make people actually notice the camera recording them.
I like how I can look at my front garden even if I’m in bed, or see if I need to get up and answer the door (i.e. if it’s someone I know or the post delivery person, or someone soliciting something.)
I think for the price, it’s actually incredibly underpriced for what’s included. I also have 4 Tapo smart plugs where I can turn them off and on with my phone. I do really love TP-Link’s Tapo
Easy to set up
Having replaced old camera with this one is just fantastic the clarity of the image on my old iPad which I use as monitor is amazing also the response time of any motion is instant and can distinguish between vehicles and people.
Brilliant Camera. The picture on both night and day mode is very clear. Easy to Set up and the app is also easy to navigate. I have an SD card in mine and simple to download any of the footage. It is a bit sensitive to rain but I’m sure that could be sorted with the app but I’ve only had it up a couple of hours so will have a mess about tomorrow.
Far better than a Hive camera
Getting really upset at constant problems with Hive, and their discontinuation of the camera anyway, I decided to buy this Tapo (tp-link) because of reviews and the fact that it was made by tp-link.
Setup was a breeze including driver updates and installing a SD card.
The pictures is far better than Hive, it is responsive and the software very well written. It can even track movement although I found this a little spooky and turned it off.
The picture is straight from the camera across my den- I’m really impressed with the quality for a 20 camera!
Another 2 on order! Update- Oh no there isn’t! Went to reorder and the price is increased to 35! In 2 days? Forget it. Amazon did this to me with a heater last year.

Integrates perfectly into the tapo app – easily controlled and the alerts work perfectly – we were in Thailand and the camera was in UK and had instant notification.

The quality of this camara really suprised me, as the price I got it for I did’nt think it would be so good. Very high quality build, small & compact with good attachment options. The picture quality is brilliant.I set it up & was monitoring my house front from my front window in no time, night vision is really good to. You have an option to a free 30 day cloud storage offer during setup or you can go with the option of installing a maximum 128gb microSD card (as I did) you can record anytime via the Tapo App.
To set up when you first recieve the camera you will need to download the Tapo App & install it on your phone or other device(s). You will then need set up an account, this is simply an email address & password which allows you to sign into the app on your devices.
Once done plug in your camera & turn on. Open the Tapo App & add device, choose camera & the model from a list displayed by the app & install it. During installation you will need to sign onto you’re Wifi network. Instructions are easy to follow & you should be up & running in no time, & you can usually find someone on youtube showing you how to do it also.
Once running you can then operate the camera as you wish via the app. If you have problems you can always find answers online. Great product would highly recommend.

This is a game changer!! I have got a new puppy and worry about leaving him, but this changes all of that , it has a few features, I love the night vision mode , everything is crystal clear , it’s become so handy because I can talk through the camera to reassure him . Now he’s a bit bigger and I have another dog , this allows me to see what they are getting up too at night , I have to say I’ve seen some funny things I didn’t realise they were doing like getting up on the coffee table I really love this because you can keep a eye on things when you aren’t around, it also has a alarm that is triggered by movement and it alerts your phone so it’s also handy for security, this is a great buy at a fantastic price 🙂
Bought to replace a non-brand IP camera purchased years ago. Pleased with this one, the app is responsive and connects to the camera quickly, picture quality is good and motion detection is flexible with various zones / privacy area options. May be a thing for some users, but this camera can only be viewed via TP-Links phone app, unable to view live or recordings on a PC (unless you pull the SD Card and plug it into PC).
Only downsides (which may not be a problem for others) :
– Not possible to have nightvision on without the IR illumination on. Results is if you are using this through a window (as I am) then the IR glare back from the window blinds the camera. Even my no-brand cheapy I previously had allowed you to toggle the IR lighting independently of the nightvision filter but with this one you can’t. If nightvision is on, the IR light is on, no option. Luckily the day mode is high enough gain that even without IR it’s still a good enough picture.
– Recording duration cannot be changed. Every time a cat walks across my garden, that’s the camera tied up recording for a full minute. Other cameras I’ve had / have allow you to set a period of inactivity after which the recording will stop e.g. 15 seconds after motion stops, halt recording. Not this one though.
Neither are the end of the world, just seem to me like fundamental options which even the cheapest knock off cameras have, so surprised that this didn’t.

I have been using some other brand smart cam, I needed a few more cam before I went on my holiday, so I decided to try the Tapo, it was also at a good price.
Setting up the cam on the Tapo app very straightforward, it’s supports the Kasa ranges, so all devices on the same app now.
The video quality is good. The sound capture is good and very clear. The motion sensor works nicely.
Tapo App: now I can see multiple cams live on the same screen. It supports up to 32 cams however 4 cams on a single screen.
I have been using it with an SD card for continuous recording.

Definitely recommended for anyone looking for video coverage. Had these setup during our vacations and I am very happy with my purchase. Very simple to setup, you just create account with the app, add new device to you network as per instructions, assign it to given room and you are done. Video quality is very decent, even when zoomed in. App lets you to move the camera in every direction and although there is very small delay from when you press the arrow to when the camera moves, it doesn’t bother me at all. You can store your recordings in cloud (I believe this is paid service) or you can use micro sd card, make sure you get decent size 32-64GB. For whatever reason micro sd cards with 2gb size and lower would not be compatible (I only had small size cards when camera arrived). You can set custom points of view and name them so for instance, you can move the camera to your front doors and save this view as “front doors”, if you then move the camera to different position you can easily switch back to front door with one click. If you enable notifications, you get them instantly. Night vision works very well. Great little device.
