I got this to keep one of my twenty-two long’s in because after adding a dot sight, it no longer fit in the original case from the factory. This thing did the trick and I’m super happy about it. The foam pops out in little blocks and made for a nice custom fit. I peppered in several silica drying products packets and I’m good to go. I think this case was well worth the money. I may get one for another piece of hardware, actually.

Great Alternative to More Premium Cases.
I store my high-end knife collection in Pelican storage cases.
The very first one I had bought is over 13 years old and needed to be replaced, and not just because the foam had been damaged and lost its cushioning over time.
I found this case on Amazon and noticed how well priced it was.
That made me a little suspicious because cases like these and this dimension go for much more.
Since my knives are just stored in my home and are rarely moved, I decided to take a chance on this brand.
I received the case the next day via Prime shipping.
The very first thing I noticed was how light the case is. The case is not made of heavy duty polymer that Pelicans are made of.
I noticed that the locks are not the same, either. These ones are much simpler and far less sturdy and robust.
This isn’t airtight or waterproof either.
On the other hand, the foam insert is simply superior in this case. Not only is it modular but it is sunken in a little bit to allow adequate room for a top insulating layer.
What a great system.
I plucked out the holes for my knife collection to fit snugly and beautifully in this case.
The case works fantastically for long term, immobile storage.
It protects my knives perfectly, doesn’t weigh much, and it won’t break the bank.
Long story short, if you need a robust and indestructible case to transport valuables such as firearms, knives, and cameras, buy a premium case. If, however, you need a low cost permanent home storage option for said valuables, this is the perfect case.
Overall, this is a solid product. I recommend it.
I like it.
I have quite a few (and I mean lots) of these cases from all the different brands, including monsters like the Pelican 1770. I live by a simple rule. And if you follow this rule too, you’ll be just fine.
If it absolutely, positively, can not be damaged / mission critical piece of equipment that you can’t live without, it goes in a Pelican. Everything else can go in anything else.
But…despite this being “anything else”, the quality here comes close to, or in at least one instance, exceeds the competition. The main drawback is that there really isn’t a lot of reinforcement ribbing on this case, which means there will always be limits as to what it can take. But that doesn’t mean it’s weak, that just means you can’t use it as a jack stand. But the rest here is actually pretty darn good.
The overall build quality is EXCELLENT. I’ve seen some pretty junky cases that came brand new with broken bits here or there just from shipping. I actually get a REALLY good “quality vibe” from this. One thing you notice with cheaper cases is the plastic compounds they use when they mold them will shrink and deform just a bit when they cool down. So they never seem “perfect”. And where you will ESPECIALLY see this is where the halves meet at the longest span. This is actually injection-molded to a very high quality level. I’ve also worked in injection molding a bit, so I can recognize that as well. It has 3 hinges at the back which are pretty stout and fairly well reinforced. The handle has a VERY nice, thick, rubber over-molding on it, which actually feels like it has some depth to it rather than just being a coating. And, once again, the injection-molding quality of the handle and over-molding is very good indeed.
The latches…ohhhh the latches. I have to tell you, as an owner of many Pelican cases, I can tell you for certain that the Pelican button-release latches can be a little stiff. And by a little stiff I mean, wow. They can be stiff. (Their Vaults seems a bit better in this aspect than their base line). But the latches on this case? Oh, man. They open like a DREAM. One finger to *CLICK*, push it closed. And it’s a very satisfying click, too. Like, such a nice sound and feel. I promise, the first time you work the latches, you’ll be amazed at the smoothness and quality feel of them. Then to release, one finger to lift up, and one finger to lightly push the button. And POP it opens right up. No sitting on it to release some of the pressure (yes I’ve done that) of the stuff packed it. As you can tell, I was REALLY impressed with the latches. If they stand up to the test of time? This literally may be my favorite latch out of ALL the cases I own, and some of my cases were more than $650. I wish this latch was on ALL of them.
Inside the case, the egg-crate foam in the lid is decently attached, though it can be ripped out if you so desire (but, don’t unless absolutely necessary, or if you only use it for socks). The pick-a-part foam is nice, and I mean REAL nice. You get 3 layers (plus what seems to be about a 1/2″ base layer of foam) which is great, some smaller cases like this come with 1 or 2 layers, and the 3 layers really helps to customize the shape for a secure hold on your stuff. The O-ring in the lid is a VERY nice, spongy/rubber gasket that looks as good as any of the gaskets in my big-name cases.
Now, where MIGHT it fail the test? Well, when it comes to cases like this, strength comes from 3 places – the shape, the reinforcement ribs, and the quality of the plastic. This doesn’t have an over-abundance of reinforcement ribbing present. So I can’t recommend it for, say, jumping out of an airplane and sliding down a mountain on it Indiana Jones-style. You want the big name case for that. But literally anything not mission-critical? This case is BEAUTIFUL. One of the better quality ones I’ve seen actually, and I’ve seen a few.
Until some component on this fails, forcing me to update this? This is 5 stars. All the way. Recommended.
Robuster Schutz
Built Like A Tank
Good quality protective carry case that is very strong and durable I have no doubt this will last a very long time.
The only tough part you might have if your like me is what to use this case for, when I got it I decided I would use it to store, transport a drone but when it arrived it was slightly bigger than I thought it would be and realised I could easily fit my DSLR camera and a lens in there if I positioned it correctly but in the end I went for the drone and will get another case for my camera.
This is a good size case for my needs I like the fact it has two holes so you can secure the case by putting a padlock on or cable ties and cut the top off this is a nice touch.
My only grumble the foam on the top of the case is not very think and I don’t feel you will get much protection there so you might want to insert a thicker layer, this is a shame and what lets this great case down.
Overall I am happy with the case but I am only giving it four stars just because of the layer of foam on the top of the case but saying that I would still recommend it.
cost-effective for a waterproof hard camera case
YOUCAN ROBOT Anti Shock Hard Compact Camera Case Safety IP67 Waterproof
I take my cameras to extreme places such as rainforests – getting there in open longboats and the Sahara desert, where dust gets into everthing. And not always, can cameras and lenses travel with me on airplanes or in cars and trucks. In those conditions the best protection has always been a lockable waterproof / dust-proof / humidity proof case and a big silica-gel dehydrating pack to put inside it.
The standard rating for complete protection from both water and dust is the IP67 standard.
Although Pelican are established as the market leader, there are a number of Peli case alternatives worth considering. This one looks to be modelled on the Storm Case – which is actually manufactured by Peli although it was originally developed by Hardigg, before the company was purchased by Pelican in 2009.
This is strong – I tested this by dropping it onto concrete from a 1.5 m drop with 3 kg inside AND by standing on it: hint – one key use of these cases is to enable you to stand 6 inches higher to get portraits from an elevated position that helps exclude “noisy” backgrounds or to let you shoot over the heads of a crowd.
The seal is made of what looks like compress-able silicone rubber. I tested the waterproofing by putting paper towels inside the case and then putting it in the shower at home for 10 minutes. This case is advertised as meeting the “P67 standard” so that performance is the minimum expected.
The catches seem tough enough – and they have a locking mechanism. In addition, like the Peli’s, there are two drilled holes that you can put bolts with wing-nuts through to screw tight shut – or place padlocks to keep fingers out when the case might be out of your sight, or put two small diameter carabiners through them to clip to climbing ropes to get kit up cliffs or to make a shoulder strap for porterage.
the handle seems to have some slight padding too
you get the screw valve under the handle to open if this is going up in an unpressurised aircraft to equalise internal and external pressures. This isn’t as clever as the flap valves you see in a Peli’ case however – as you have to do this and remember to close it once the pressure has equalised.
The foam can be pulled out to fit the shape of your kit. It is “pre-cut” in columns about 0.5 x 0.5 x 2inches in size
The foam inside is relatively low density, and the top/bottom layers aren’t very thick. If you want higher protection – think about changing that to higher density foam.
There are no other problems that I can see – but the real test is a month away and a dirt road trip in the back of a Land Rover.
I like this – there is a good range of choice on Amazon if you search for “waterproof hard camera case” and this one seems to offer good value. Can you buy better? Probably – Pelican/Storm have made their name by delivering over the decades to become the market leader – but not at this price.
Crucially – with these cases there is a BIG difference between external and internal dimensions. Furthermore, in calculating the size to get – remember that you need a minimum of two “columns” of foam (or an inch or so) around you equipment too. So be realistic about how much room you need and get the correct size.
If it fails on my upcoming trip where I’m epexting a lot of rain – I’ll be back to update the review !
