As a middle-aged dad who loves biking with my family and taking my kids on outdoor adventures, I can’t stress enough how important it is to have a reliable lock. This Bicycle Lock has truly impressed me with its durability, rust resistance, and keyless convenience.

The steel cable core of this lock is twisted and tough, ensuring that it can withstand daily wear and tear. No matter how much I tug or pull on it, this lock holds strong, giving me peace of mind that my bike is secure. The PVC shell adds another layer of protection by preventing rust that can damage both the lock and my bike.

The lock cylinder can handle accidental drops without compromising its reliability. It’s reassuring to know that even if I accidentally drop it while trying to unlock my bike, the lock remains intact.

This lock is versatile and reliable in safeguarding various outdoor items like motorcycles and sports equipment. As a family, we love exploring different activities outdoors, and knowing that this lock can protect more than just our bikes gives us added convenience and peace of mind.

To sum it up, this Bicycle Lock is an excellent investment for anyone who values the security of their outdoor gear. I highly recommend this lock, especially for the price!

I think this lock is aimed towards kids and it is suited to that. You wouldn’t use it to secure an expensive adults bike for any prolonged period. It shouts out look at me and there are stronger alternatives available. However, the colour will appeal to the younger generation and it is quite lightweight. Also there are no keys to lose. I also found it easy to lock/unlock. It is strong enough to deter any random thief who isn’t carrying cable cutters around with them…

Small, lightweight and easy to set the code on, this is a decent combination lock, and the fact that it’s a 5-digit code rather than 4 adds a layer of extra security against thieves scrolling through every possible number. Of course most thieves won’t be doing that, but cutting through the cable, and this probably isn’t the most resistant to that kind of attack. The nice bright colour is debatable too – does it shout “I have a lock!” or “I don’t have a D-lock…” Bottom line, this is better than nothing, and is light and easy. Probably wouldn’t use it as the sole look for my best road bike though….

For a budget bike lock this is very good, and perfect for a kids bike or a bike that isn’t going to be targeted by determined thieves.
Build quality is good and everything works easily and smoothly. Perfect for trips to the shop.

First things first, this is not a high security lock, however, for the price it is a good solution for locking up your bike for short periods of time such as when popping into a local shop for a few minutes.

I used it as a secondary lock in addition to my Kryptonite D-lock, I certainly wouldn’t rely on this cable lock for securing my bike for any significant period of time.

But for the price and convenience of being lightweight and not having to carry keys this is a good basic lock.

This was ordered for the E bike, as it is lightweight and was thought easier to take out in the backpack rather than the heavier one. However it doesn’t really fit and is of a much lower security grade.

The price of the lock is relatable to the quality. If you’ve got an expensive bike, this isn’t the lock you need, as it’s more of a deterrent rather than high security.

It does have a combination lock which is easily set up, but the wire could be snapped off in moments by a determined, experienced thief as it isn’t of a high density steel.
The lead wasn’t long enough to go over the E-bike seat area due to the battery compartment being too big for it to go over. It therefore will be used around the handlebars, backing up the already high security lock already in use, just for the extra peace of mind.

This review is for the aonova Bike Lock, Bicycle Lock – 120cm x 12mm High Security 5-Digit Combination Coiling Cable Lock for Bike, Motorbike, Scooter, Skateboard, Gate, Fence (Black)

6.99 at the time of review.

Bear in mind that a highly rated bicycle lock can cost over 100-150, then that tells you of the quality of this and what to expect from it.

The cable is thick and the lock is bulky. It has a clip to hold the cable that can be fitted around the frame, so you don’t need to carry the lock with you — it stays on the bike.

You wrap the cable around a wheel (rear is best as they are more expensive than front wheels) and then around a post and lock it — simple.

At this price, I didn’t think it worth destroying a lock with an angle grinder to test how strong it is, so this review is entirely on the usability of the lock and what it is aimed at. It is easy to use and easy to ride with and I think it would work well for a smaller, less expensive bike. If your child cycles to school, for instance, this lock would work well. The bright colours also help to act as a deterrent so that is a plus as well.

I’m giving it 4 stars as five might give potential buyers the wrong idea. If you have a bike worth thousands of pounds, you would be best advised spending 100+ pounds to make sure your dream bike is as secure as it can be. It would be madness to spend a couple of thousand on a bike then expect a 7 quid lock to keep it safe.

    Pros

Fairly Good Quality Bike Lock which is 1.2 Metres Long.

5 Digits of the Lock which can be Set to Your Own Combination .
( Good English Instructions & Very Readable Size Text in the Box )

At around 7 , I think this is Fairly Good For the Money for a Basic Lock.

    Cons

The Plastic Wrap Material , has a Chemical Smell with it.

At with All these Combination Type Locks , these are only Good for Low Value Bikes , Or Maybe as a 2nd Lock to Stop someone Removing the Front Wheel.
The Metal that fits into the Combination is Not Steel but a Cast Alloy ( Monkey Metal ) and under a fair bit of Tension will Snap.

For More Expensive Bikes 300 and More , I would buy a Bike Lock which has a “Sold Secure” Rating of Gold or Silver . These are Mostly “D” Locks.

Please Note “Sold Secure” is a Independent Lock Testing Company , which Rates Locks that meet their minimum requirements as Bronze , Silver or Gold .

    I Hope this Helps.

    Best Regards B.H.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis lock needs to be judged in the context of the price that you pay for it. It’s a cheap lock with low expectations. If it were 20 I would be rating it more harshly given its limitations. This is not a lock that you would use to leave your bike unattended for long periods. It does not compare to using a high-end D-lock. It is however much cheaper and much lighter than those locks. At 400g it’s about a quarter of the weight of a Kryptonite D-lock.

This is a lock for deterring opportunistic thefts. It won’t stand up to a tooled-up bike thief. The build quality seems decent but the housing around the cylinder is plastic and could be smashed with a hammer and steel cables are easily cut with the right tool. Furthermore, there is no Sold Secure rating for this lock so if your bike gets stolen while locked up using this you are unlikely to be able to claim on your insurance.

The combination is easy to change and the cylinder does not appear to be susceptible to the flaws that plague other cheap combination locks. The supplied mount is functional. Personally I don’t have space on my seat post due to having lights there but if you do it will do the job. There is a little bit of play between the lock and the mount so there may be bit of rattling on rough surfaces. As its a cable lock you could just wrap it around the base of your seat post or head tube if you can’t use the mount.

If you want to stop somebody wheeling your bike away while you’re in a village store for 2 minutes, this will do the job without weighing you down significantly. If you want to leave your bike at a train station all day or in a city centre bike rack, get something more expensive with a top rating from Sold Secure.
