This did exactly what we expected. Perfect connection, no problems. Except one small issue. When you try to make a phone call for the first time after starting the device, it connects but voice doesn’t work. Disconnect and redial and it works fine. Perhaps there’s a setting.

Sometimes the volume buttons on the steering wheel won’t work, I turn off the nav, turn it back on and hey presto, works again. I did have to disconnect the whole thing and re set up once but it’s been fine since.

It’s just been a few days, but it works perfectly.
It was extremely simple to setup and functions exactly as it would with the wired connection (music, podcasts, google maps and all the same apps are available).
Even better, it reconnects automatically when the car is started. Previous with the wired connection, after connecting the cable, I still used have to go into the menu in the cars head unit and select CarPlay. Then select the iPhone from a list (of 1), then accept a message about data transfer.
With this dongle, none of that is necessary. When the car is started, it takes about 20 or 30 seconds, but it automatically connects (resuming from the last ‘place’ CarPlay was e.g. resumes audio) with no need for me to navigate through menus or accept system message prompts.

I can’t of course speak to long term reliability, but exterior build quality and materials are good so I have no reason to think the internal system isn’t also good.

The dongle itself is nice and small. Lead length is short, which may be perfect or not depending on the exact location of your usb slot and where you want to leave/place the dongle.

Value for money is subjective, but if the function is worth the price to you, then I’d say it’s good value.

Works good with a few minor freezes on a couple of occasions but easily solved by a quick unplug and refit usb plug a work again.. probably not the machine and the Bluetooth connection in middle of nowhere with poor signal. Worth the money though.
