Having been a loyal Shark user for many years, I recently upgraded to the Shark Stratos Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner, and I am thoroughly impressed with its performance and features.
The Charcoal/Rose Gold design not only caught my eye but also added a touch of sophistication to my cleaning routine. The vacuum’s sleek and lightweight build makes it easy to handle, especially when maneuvering around the tight spaces in our caravan.
Fast charging is a game-changer, providing the convenience of quick and efficient cleaning without any downtime. The 60-minute run-time is more than sufficient for both home and caravan use, ensuring I can tackle multiple cleaning tasks on a single charge.
The suction power of the Shark Stratos is nothing short of amazing. It effortlessly picks up dirt, debris, and pet hair, leaving surfaces spotless. What truly sets it apart is the variable power suction with automatic dirt detection. This intelligent feature adjusts the suction power based on the amount of dirt, making the cleaning process more efficient and thorough.
The Anti Hair Wrap Plus technology is a blessing, especially for those who have experienced the hassle of tangled hair in vacuum cleaners. This innovation has significantly reduced maintenance time, allowing for a seamless cleaning experience.
The Clean Sense IQ and Anti-Odour Technology are noticeable improvements, providing not only a clean surface but also contributing to a fresher and more pleasant environment. It’s evident that Shark has put thought into enhancing the overall cleaning experience.
This purchase was made to replace our old Shark Lift Away vacuum, which served us well for a very long time. The decision to stick with Shark was an easy one, given their consistent quality and innovation. As expected, the Shark Stratos has exceeded our expectations and proven to be a worthy successor.
In conclusion, if you’re in the market for a reliable and efficient vacuum cleaner, especially for use in a caravan, the Shark Stratos Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner is a stellar choice. With its stylish design, fast charging, and intelligent features, it has become an indispensable tool in our cleaning arsenal. I continue to be a satisfied Shark customer and highly recommend this product to others.
My first cordless vacuum
This is my first cordless vacuum. I just read many comments for choosing Shark. I have a Miele but not cordless, It is brilliant but I feel frustrated when I take it upstairs or outdoors.
I don’t choose Dyson because of price. Cannot compare, but Shark didn’t let me down. Good price and Good product. Love i
This is my first cordless / stick vacuum and i am quite impressed, its just so much more convenient to hoover somthing up or give it a quick run around that it actually makes me hoover more.
The dust box is smaller but takes seconds to empty.
the batteries do need recharging but you get two so its no bother to rotate them.
you’d never normally run out a whole battery in once session.
the attachments mean you can turn it into a stick vacuum for cleaning the car etc quite easily.
Power wise, it can be very powerful, but what it tends to do is limit its power until it detects dust then it powers up to full, and you can hear it doing this as you go. This is presumably to save batteries, like a car idling.
so the hoover is fairly quiet if you stop moving but will power up when you hit dirt.
this is mostly a good thing but if your doing a really dirty job then you just want full power all the time but this would be noisy and hard on the battery. if your doing heavy duty cleaning then corded probably still has its advantages there.
But for keeping your house tidy and staying on top of things these are brilliant.
This specific vacuum is one of the best Shark make, (although not there very highest model)
its still fairly new out and well worth buying.
generally Shark hoovers aren’t quite as good as Dyson but they are half the price when looking at comparable models, so id say Shark is much better value for money.
Fantastic bit of kit. Well packaged. I’ve only used it a few times but picks up extremely well. Is very lightweight and folds tidily away. I’m not sure the run time of the battery is correct. It doesn’t seem to run for the full 60 mins. But that timing may be for eco mode only. Overall I’m really happy with the product and being able to easily hoover under furniture is a plus for me.
For the money you can’t beat it. Works perfectly and the added accessories are a neat bonus for them tricky to manage tasks. Folding away for easy storage the stratos looks stylish in any house. Great power and a lightweight design makes it easy to use around the house and on the stairs. The screen is a cool way of checking battery usage but isn’t necessary.
Have been using around the house for a good few months now and has performed flawlessly.
The 5 year guarantee on the machine itself and 2 years on the battery is a great peace of mind for any prospective buyer looking to invest in a quality vacuum. Would definitely recommend.
Bought this to replace a Dyson V8 Animal and a Samsung cordless – I couldn’t clean the whole house even when using the two as the battery life on each was poor.
OMG the Shark is amazing! I bought it with the twin batteries and it allows me to clean the whole house in one go. We are a family of 4 with a dog. so the house can get quite messy and I used to have to cut my daughter’s long hair out of the Dyson and Samsung after every vacuum. I don’t have to do this with the shark at all.
Pros:
Attachments fit easily
Good selection of attachments
Two batteries for long run time
Batteries easy to remove and charge
Vacuum can be folded in half to store it easily
Headlight makes it easy to see dirt as you approach it – especially good under beds, sofas etc.
It vacuums really well
It has a boost function for areas that need extra suction
It is easy to empty
Anti hair wrap is a game changer
Less expensive than a Dyson
It bends to glide under items of furniture
Cons
Slightly heavier than the Dyson
Quite noisy especially on boost
Can get stuck on mats due to the strong suction
It will suck up everything it encounters eg pen lids, iPhone chargers, lego bricks, socks!
The pros definitely outweigh the cons.
I love this!
The main positive thing about this machine is that it is extremely convenient to pull out of a cupboard for a quick clean up, and having two batteries with a stand alone charger is much to be preferred to having to install a charging point for it.
When I first got it I found the handle really hard – my hands are slightly arthritic and I certainly noticed it when using this cleaner – but a couple of months on either my hands have got better or they’ve got used to the feel of it. It is a bit heavier than I had expected but I’ve got more used to that now.
The power button is difficult to use one-handed, but changing the suction level is easy. The clips for releasing the canister for emptying, and bending the top over so that the machine can stand alone, do feel a bit fragile and I’m not sure how long they will last. I agree with the comments about the failure to make the design so that the machine will stand upright without having to be propped up – an odd oversight.
We have a large dog that moults horribly at this time of year – this machine mostly copes with this on the ‘commonsense’ setting. The battery life is pretty much what they say it is, depending on your suction speed. I haven’t really used the attachments at all because my Miele deals with corners and edges. Using the upright isn’t particularly convincing in this respect. On the stairs you can just disconnect the ‘stick’ and use the canister and its inbuit nozzle, without faffing about with attachments if you don’t want to.
I would recommend buying an extra set of filters as they do need a thorough wash every month or so, and plenty of time to dry out thoroughly. The actual canister gets extremely dusty and you can buy a spare from the Shark website – again useful as the one you’ve washed out will need to dry off properly before using it again.
On the whole I’m pleased with this – it’s doing what I wanted it to – but I would not have wanted to pay the full list price for it. Even at 319 in the Black Friday deals it felt expensive.
Approve of the packaging though – long overdue to make all of it recyclable, so credit to Shark for that.
Love it. You can trust the good reviews! Had a rather disappointing start in our quest for a cordless vacuum. Already owing a good quality corded version we just wanted something to make those quick-in-between cleans an easy option. With three back spaniels we wanted to have something we could just run over the kitchen floor with in seconds. Initially wowed by the reviews of a much cheaper, American brand which we’d never heard of, which has thousands of 5 star reviews we bought it thinking at 120 what had we to lose? Well , about 120 as it turns out. It was flimsy light weight and definitely NOT the suction raved about in all the reviews. Most odd. Still very confused and baffled by those reviews.
Not this one. It just does everything like a dream.
Pros – Feels solid, well made and great suction. The hadn’t piece detaches at the flick of a switch making stairs a doddle. Love the intuitive suction – changes as needed between hard floors and rugs, light and heavy duty cleaning. Charge seem to last well. We don’t do the whole house at a time now – just as and when needed as so easy – but I did a large kitchen, lounge (including Christmas tree needles); hall and stairs yesterday and only dropped from 100% to 60% battery power. Incredible.
Cons – slightly heavier than some of the others, but certainly not uncomfortably so and this actually makes it feel more robust.
Lightweight and manoeuvrable
I have just purchased the cleaner and so far, I am happy with it. Collapsing the stem and doubling over the motor head is a cool feature that enables storage of the cleaner in the upright position. I wonder how durable the connection at the joint will be as it bends through 180 degrees every time you store it. However, the machine has a five-year warranty so there is plenty of time to find out.
I always heard good comments from Shark owners so after 3 handheld Dyson’s over the years that left me a bit disappointed considering their defty price, I purchased the Shark Stratos. I need to get used to it but overall it’s a good hoover. That it can be folded for storage is great, to charge the battery separately is great, the 2 rollers in the brush do a great job, under the sofa, cupboard, bed option is great and really managed even larger parts like tissues, torn off small baking paper, outside onion skins…the Dyson didn’t manage. You don’t have to hold the whole hoover as it’s not a pure handheld hoover like the Dyson, you have to hold some weight but it’s far less then the Dyson. What’s a bit confusing is that when the handle get to a straight upright it’s stops hoovering and the is a little resistance to put the handle in a hoovering position. So you have to put the foot on the brush in order to get it down. This is something different and I just need to get used to it. Another thing is I used to be able to hoover smaller floor runners but the hoover is too powerful and sucks the carpet in. I need to find a way how to do that. Even changing the power doesn’t work as the two brushes just move it in. Maybe I need to use one of the other attachments which I will try the next time. Not sure if the battery really lasts 60 min as it seems to be shorter
I can recommend this Shark Stratos hoover and I am overall happy with my black Friday purchase
Having bought a few different cordless vacuums that either don’t last or have some other fault that makes them unusable – this hoover really does outshine them all.
I won’t write a long review, but some top highlights.
Anti hairwrap works and is a godsend.
Battery indicator is accurate.
Automatic detection and battery saving works really well, but does sometimes get stuck on high power even when the area is clean, requiring a power cycle.
Easy to move and agile enough to get into corners.
Folds well, but annoyingly won’t stand upright with the battery in by itself.
Cleans so well. Carpet, hardwood, crevices. Does it all.
It’s taken me a while to get there, but I’m finally a convert to battery powered appliances. I’ve long been an advocate of cordless tools, but larger high-drain appliances such as vacuum cleaners and lawnmowers I wasn’t so sure about. Earlier this year I saw the light when I bought a LawnMaster battery powered lawn mower, finding everything about the experience revelatory. And now, inevitably, I’ve reached the same position with vacuum cleaners.
For the last 10-15 years or so we’ve had Dysons. I always thought they were the proper business, and we still have an upright and a cylinder versions of their Animal range. But, as they got older, I found them to be heavy, cumbersome and perhaps not as good as I’d convinced myself that they were. Specifically, the “Animal” claim was always doing a lot of heavy lifting, and I spent as much time unwrapping border collie fur and the wife’s long hair from the head unit as I did actually vacuuming.
But, the biggest problem with them was how much hassle they were to drag around the house, unplugging and plugging them back it, painful to clean the stairs, and storing them was just a downright pain in the backside. So, I started looking into battery powered vacuums several years ago. I head a lot of good things about many different brands. My sister swears by G-tech, for example. But more and more I heard a lot of good things about Shark. I’ve had several in my Amazon Wishlist for a long time, tracking their prices and reading the reviews. I’d almost got to the point where I was ready to commit.
And then, Shark brought out a new model. The Shark Stratos Pet Pro. It immediately made me sit up and take note, and I kept a close eye on the reviews coming in and the price, which at RRP is eye-watering. If I was going to spend that much on a cleaner, I wanted to be sure it was right. I hoped to get a deal during the Black Friday sales, but seeing the stock levels convinced me that it was unlikely to happenbut a refresh one evening of my Wishlist saw it not only back in stock but on a great offer. As the stock level plummeted while I looked, I dived in and placed my order.
The vacuum actually arrived on the Friday of Black Friday, and I set the camera rolling while I unboxed it and set it up for the first time. Much of the focus of my reviews is on how easy something is to use and set up, and a product like a vacuum can often come with so many attachments and bits that you’re never sure where to start. There’s certainly plenty of bits inside the Shark’s box, but it’s very straightforward.
You get the vacuum body, housing the motor, dust box, handle and where you connect the battery. You get two 60-minute batteries (one if you go for the single battery version, obviously), and a dual dock battery charger. There’s multiple heads for different activities, such as general cleaning, the stairs, upholstery and dusting, with a canvas bag to store them all in. There’s a central section that connects the body to your chosen head, which you will use in general floor cleaning but remove if you want to use the vacuum as a handheld device for cleaning stairs. You also get a purifier device in a sealed can that you fit to the main vacuum head, which you can definitely smell (in a pleasant way) when you’re vacuuming.
The vacuum has so many attachments and articulations that it could be in danger of being too complicated, but in reality it all works very well. There’s quick release buttons on the heads, on the main body to release the central section, and to fold the whole thing into a compact store mode. The dust bin releases very easily and is really straightforward to empty.
A note on the dust bin is that it does have a small capacity and you will likely be needing to empty it more regularly than you would with a regular vacuum, but the offset is that it is very easy to empty.
In operation the Shark Stratos is a delight to use. It really is lovely to use. Not only because you’re unencumbered by cables, but because it’s weighted really well. I wouldn’t say it’s a lightweight device, but the weight is nicely balanced and the way the head articulates will see you galloping around the house. I’m not saying it’s perfect, but it’s better than anything I’ve used before. The weight is mainly in the body of the vacuum, where you hold it, which means that you can’t let it stand up on its own like you would with a traditional upright vacuumit’ll simply fall over. It’ll stand up when you take the dust bin off to empty, but it won’t stand up in any other circumstance unless you fold it down into its store-away mode.
But aside from that, I can’t stress enough how quickly you clean your house. I hadn’t quite realised how much of the vacuuming experience was taken up with dealing with the cables. Without them you sprint around, you really do. And the main head unit is brilliant. It is so low it gets under every cupboard and sideboard in the house. It has a headlight on it which really does a good job of showing the way forward, and there’s a lightbar that indicates how much power is being used. The vacuum adapts to different surfaces and workloads by reducing or increasing the power needed. It works really well. We’ve got a mixture of carpets, tiles and parquet flooring and it goes from one to another so smoothly.
On the main body you’ll find the power button (which there seems to about a 1 second delay before the power kicks in making you want to press it again) and a button for switching into eco mode. To be totally honest, the only scenario I would ever use eco mode is when I’d cleaning mats/rugs that would otherwise be sucked into the cleaner if it was at full tilt.
Which leads me onto perhaps the most important thing. Battery life. I specifically went for the twin battery version, as I would with any power tool, as it gives you the option to charge one battery while continuing to operate the device. Shark’s stated 120 minute battery life across both batteries is based on using eco mode. Well, I live with a border collie and a wife with 3ft long hair.eco mode isn’t an option. I’m going to be using it at full power, all of the time. In the real world, how does the battery fare?
On the first time I used the Shark, having fully charged the batteries, I did a complete clean of the house, top to bottom including stairs, cleaned the sofas, used the dust attachment and did all of the picture rails, skirtings, sideboards.anything that I could vacuum I vacuumed. With both batteries the Shark flew through everything with plenty of charge left to spare. I had my stopwatch running the entire time, pausing the clock every time I stopped to empty the dust bin (four times in total across the entire house) and completed a total clean of the house.which really doesn’t happen very often. The Shark still had 20% left in the second battery. I kept going though as I wanted to see exactly how long the battery lasted. It took an age for that last 20% to deplete, and when it did I had been vacuuming for a total of 44 minutes 28 seconds. This was using a mixture of the heads, but primarily the main powered head.
Now, 44 minutes doesn’t actually sound very much does it? It’s a lot less than the manufacturers claims, but that is against using eco mode. In reality, 44 minutes vacuuming is a long time. We have a decent sized 3 bedroomed detached house, with added border collie. It’s a reasonable challenge for a cordless vacuum, but the Shark has taken it impressively in its stride. Without cables to deal with you’ll find you really will fly around your house.
Is it flawless? No, it’s not. As I say, with the dust bin in place the vacuum won’t stand upright on its own. And the dust bin is small so you’ll be emptying it regularly. I question whether the single battery version would clean much but the smallest of properties. It’s also very expensive, even on offer. But, on the right deal, it soon starts to make sense. With the twin batteries it’s extremely capable. It cleans really well, gets into awkward places, is quite quiet in comparison to vacuums I’ve previously used, the dust bin is easy to clean, it all folds away into a very compact form and is easy to store, the batteries are charged off-machine, which means you don’t need to store it close to a power supply to keep it charged. It’s very agile and incredibly versatile. You’re effectively getting an upright vacuum and a handheld vacuum in one, so you can do the stairs or the car very easily. It also comes with a 5-year warranty (2 for the batteries).
Is it worth the money? There’s no denying that it’s expensive, but would I buy it again? Yes, I’m sure that I would.
