This is an amazing amount of fun, if you don’t have the space for a full blown drumkit, then although this could never replace it properly it’s still a really fun instrument that should allow you to improve your drumm playing whilst making some seriosuly cool tunes.

Think of it like an air guitar for drums, hence the name air drums. However this does actually include a set of drum sticks, these drum sticks seem to hold all of the tech inside of them in order to drum away to your hearts content, i’m not sure how the tech works but it seems to sense your movements and react through sound as soon as it feels you making the snap movement as if you were hitting something, there’s also the ability to switch between your different drums, high hat, etc. so that you can do full sessions without missing a beat (excuse the pun).

Don’t get me wrong, it takes a little getting used to, but once you have the knack to it you should be easily able to get out the same quality drumming you would on a full set.

Ok so I wasn’t convinced these were going to work at all, but in all honesty these are amazing and loads of fun. The AeroBand Pocket Drum 2 looks basic but it’s anything but.

By simple playing the in the “air” so to speak, you will product genuine drum noises and sounds and you genuinely can get really good at using it.

That said the price is high, so you have to make sure that it’s something you’d be interested in before purchase.

This was the best present I could have got my mum for mother’s day as she’s only just learning how to become a drummer. It’s easy to set up, has great sound, works excellently with the app and the product quality is made to a high standard.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersWhere do I start with this one!

    Pros : fantastic idea!
Easy setup , good quality , portable and generally a outstanding bit of kit

Cons: app is terrible and finding placement of the drums is a nightmare!!!

For someone with limited space this was ideal and I have to say I was somewhat excited when arrived , this continued till I started setting up , the app was designed back in 1995 by the looks of it and not usable by any means , which kinda brands the product useless
Mabie being able to move the drums round you could find the right placements and adjust to your liking however I just didn’t get on with it at all , every time I went for the high hat I ended up on a Tom or crash , I did calibration a few times and found every time that it just did not sync up and match what I needed .

Idea is there and I’m sure in future models will improve however I returned and purchased a full electric kit which I’m a lot happier with
The alesis nitro max kit is spot on for anyone thinking of buying one ..

For anyone worried about latency issues I can confirm there is none with this product and all music and sounds were nearly perfect
(Apart from the placement of drums 😉

Being away on holiday normally means that my kids can’t practice their drums which they miss, so being able to have a drum kit that doesn’t take up a lot of room and can be packed away in a suitcase is a life saver.

The drumsticks act as though they have drums underneath them depending on their positioning and the strike force you use, they will change the sounds accordingly, then it also comes with 2 pedals to simulate real play.

Although you don’t get the real feedback of playing the drums you do get a bit of a sense of air drums which still does the job when in need or if you simply don’t have the space for a full kit.

It comes in it’s own bag to keep it all together, can be connected to an app to record whatever you are doing and make adjustments or can use headphones directly so you don’t have to listen to your kids creating loud music…win, win.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersHaving already purchased a set of Aeroband drumsticks with foot sensors, I liked the idea of the foot pedals giving that almost real feel to the drumsticks. I wasn’t disappointed, these are great. I’m no professional drummer but with these you can play along to songs anywhere you like. Easy to carry and connect and ideal for beginners or professionals or just someone who wants to make a noise. I would also like to mention the customer service, who were very helpful to me when the wrong item was sent initially and advised me on how to swap them over. There are also videos to help you along with an App where you can learn how to play. I would recommend these as they don’t take up too much space like a real kit would.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersFirst of all the box is nicely presented and prepared with QR codes which take you to the App and English how to videos.
I have found setting up to be slightly difficult so far but they appear to work best with an iPad and not a iPhone.
Secondly the quality of the sticks needs to be mentioned. They feel robust and sturdy and I could throw them on the floor and they would survive that fine. The light and sound of the turn on/off and calibration is nice and good indicator you are doing something right.
The sticks don’t feel too heavy in hand and are nicely balanced.
Then we come to the foot straps which again took a little bit to set up and calibrate. But they are simple and effective just a strap that goes around your shoe/foot and you tap along as you need.
The App itself has a lot of features and tutorial videos to help guide you to get started and you can rewatch as many times as needed.
You need to calibrate everytime before playing a new song/level but it doesn’t take long so was t a big deal.
After you have done one song it then unlocks others and more tutorials and levels in the app and you can really start to enjoy the sticks.
Can’t wait to really hone in on these and get my skills down to be able to play along with some of my favourite songs!
This was another cool feature they have linked with your phone and Apple Music so your music you like you can play along with! So cool.
Would definitely recommend these for anyone wanting to gain skills in drumming and or wanting a game that can be played anywhere!

WELL PACKAGED, AMAZING QUALITY. The package arrived earlier than expected, it was well packaged in a high-quality box and was well protected. Felt like opening a new Apple product.

VERY RESPONSIVE. I do some multitrack recording from time to time, and latency can be an issue across different instruments, especially digital instruments. I have tried smart guitars, smart keys, midi controllers, and most of them especially the cheaper products, would give you terrible latency issues, so for this one I didn’t expect much accuracy as it is all wireless and is some kind of a new concept. But it turned out to be very responsive than expected and you would barely notice any latency either you use the dongle/adapter alone or when you connect it to a DAW via PC or iPad, amazing accuracy!

VERY EASY TO LEARN AND OPERATE. Check out the video I attached (sorry for the terrible drumming), that was tried and recorder direct out of the box operation and took only a few minutes to set up. I use Garageband for iOS as this is where I do my recording most of the time, so having this working seamlessly with this app is a perfect fit for my use! I did try the dongle/adapter alone and connected it directly to a speaker, it has its own drum presets which you can use as a standalone feature when you don’t have your laptop or tablet with you, perfect when travelling on headphones. The downloadable Aeroband app gives you a lot of exercises and lessons, I do hope they update it with more content and improved interface though, you will run out of stuff to do there after a while.

AMAZING CONCEPT. I am not a drummer, so I wouldn’t be an expert to claim that this is the best portable drum related instrument you can carry around for actual performance or playing in a studio with an actual band. But as someone who have only relied on drum loops, or downloaded drum backing tracks to use for songs I record, this gives you a whole different level of recording drums in the most portable way. As it perfectly runs smoothly with Garageband, it is the best thing you can use rather than tapping on your screen. I would say that this item is more suitable for beginners first introduced to drumming, or even amateur musicians like me who needs all instruments to be portable and easy to operate while travelling or while recording quietly in a room. I would certainly try using this to complete the drum tracks to some of my pending songs.

    Excellent product I highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Product!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersSo… Who is the market these drumsticks are made/targeted for? Well I would say generally for beginners and novices. The ability to take your drum kit (drumsticks) whatever you want in a portable package is great and won’t annoy the neighbours. I would describe myself as a basic drumer and thesr are not to replace a normal drum kit. My electronic Roland kit is unfortunately is in the loft due to lack of space as the kids stuff takes priority. So maybe these are an alternative? These are great if you’re going jaming with friends or just having a bit of fun. However there is still some location issues on where the virtual drums are placed in a virtual space. On occasions I was hitting a snare drum (near my lap) and for some reason hearing the crash cymbal (should be about head height) so had to have to re calibrate each time this happens which is a little annoying. To be fair recalibration is simple. A positive note from using the previous version I’ve got to say the latency is dramatically improved by using the supplied Bluetooth adaptor (a must) This forms part of the pro version which has the Bluetooth dongle that allows you connect to a speaker and you don’t have to use the iOS and Google play app. This greatly reduced the latency which can be a problem for some mobiles. If that doesn’t bother you then this is the product for you and there will probably be firmware updates to improve this even further. So overall it’s a fun product if you can accept it short comings. Also the app is great fun if you choose to use it as you can play along in a game type style format which is great for beginners much like guitar hero. Just to note the foot sensors worked perfectly.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersFor years I have tapped along to my favourite songs and decided to make my fantasy life as the worlds greatest drummer come true. The system was simple to set up and the app worked on my ancient phone. The practice lessons are good and the big boss bot (the first proper song to drum to) was really scary.
Maybe I am not the worlds greatest drummer and my fantasy is way to far ahead of my ability. But I am finding these sticks so much fun and the family are so happy the phone takes headphones and there is no lost room to a full drums set.

They are well constructed, were delivered quickly in nice packaging and sync to the Bluetooth really easy, every time.

Is it perfect, no, is it wild mid life crisis fun without the price tag of a Ferrari or a big drum set YES!
Am I getting better, yes, will I ever be as good as John Bonham or Cozy Powell – maybe but unlikely

Am I glad I bought them, definitely, they are way more fun than I expected them to be. You could say they are a big HIT with me.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI could give this more than 5 star. It’s a super cool idea and fun to mess around with, especially when you want to play drums but live in an apartment and have no space and can’t be loud. As a way to actually record music, it will be precise enough after practice. I’m so excited when I can consistently hit the right place to hit the drum I are aiming for.

I’ve loved drumming since I was a child and was in a school band in middle school. That said, I’m no professional. These drum sticks are fun to play with and easy to learn. I think it’s a great option for traveling drummers or for drumming enthusiasts. It is easy to play this than a real drumset. I end up pulling it out every now and then and I do have funespecially when I playing a beat or a lick.

All in all, it ended up being the awesome way to have a virtual drumset like I thought it would be. Now I just have to keep at it I think.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super fun to play with!

I have been playing with the electronic drums (haven’t used the guitar yet) for the last few days and have enjoyed them for the most part. The hardware is slick, colours light up vibrantly and the sticks vibrate to register impact. The charge time on all hardware devices is fantastic as well.
The game’s progression is very fair and steady, an incredibly welcome environment for young children and/or beginners. The song selection is great as well, with enough songs that are familiar to play along with.
The only drawback I have noticed so far is the latency. The hitboxes are very forgiving when playing along to other songs but unfortunately the lag becomes very obvious when in the free play mode where the hit detection lag is that much more apparent.
Overall though these sticks are a great purchase for young kids wanting to start learning drums or for absolute beginners who want to understand the principles of drumming in a practical way!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great tool for learning!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI’ll make this a bit longer since it’s such a new idea (relatively new, I guess I’m somewhat late to the party). Been playing with this for about a week so I have a good idea of what I like/don’t like about it.

It is quite easy to get the hang of it once you understand how to play pocket drums, it’s very good.

I have been playing drums for a few years so I can feel when something has even the slightest bit of latency. When this program says 6ms latency, they mean it. Maybe the latency of iphone is better than that of Android phones. By the way, it can also allow me to put on a headphone as I expected, which is fantastic, enabling me to enjoy an immersive drumming experience without any disturbance from outside.

Overall, I’m pleasantly surprised. I was expecting something that would only work half the time and I would probably end up selling or returning due to it being too gimmicky, but once you understand how exactly it works and what you have to do to get the most accurate drumming experience (which doesn’t take much, just a bit of patience and willingness to learn the drum layout) it can become a great way to create realistic sounding drum tracks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super cool stuff!

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI have had PocketDrum for one week now and I really enjoy using them. They are a lot of fun and worked as advertised, but there are a few issues that I have that I think could be easily solved:

    1. The latency for professionals is not friendly enough. Fortunately, It’s easy for me to change from using my traditional drum kit to this air-drumming tool. You need to practice in Level mode to make it more accurate. At the beginning, sometimes it triggers the wrong note when I hit the same spot multiple times. I feel great when I calibrate the sticks and practice with them quite a bit.

    2. So then I thought maybe I could use them as an alternative MIDI controller for live electronic music performance with Logic. This would be a great thing to have for performance artists, and even K-12 music teachers looking at integrating music technology into their performances. I did get them to sync with Logic Pro over Bluetooth MIDI with few issues. My idea was to trigger 7 samples (6 with the pocket drum and 1 with the pocket guitar on my foot). I was able to acheive this, and I can play it anytime and anywhere.

    3. Honestly, for what this is, it’s an awesome product. Despite above, PocketDrum is a perfect gift for a 10 to 13 year-old child I think. It allows him to easily get started. You can also put on a headphone as you intended.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI bought this kit because my son wanted to learn the drums, we live in a very small terraced house with thin walls so a full size kit would never work, and I hoped this would be a viable alternative.
So far its great, set up was much easier than expected, the videos are easy to understand and walk you through set up and starting up. The beginner lessons are very good, it shows you how to hold the sticks properly and get going quickly. The learning curve between lesson 1-5/1-6 seems a little high but perhaps we were getting ahead of our ability.
I now have a family of drummers that all want to use this, my 7 year old enjoys the free play aspect and I am secretly becoming the best drummer, can’t wait to see what I can do with the picks!
Downsides: It may depend on your internet connection, the calibration message that is between every lesson is a bit annoying.
Upsides: way better than a drumkit if you have someone thinking about taking up drumming, smaller first costs, no space needed, quiet, loads of videos. much cheaper than an actual drumkit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quiet Drumset!
