What I like about this bin: I use it as recycling bin for bottles and plastics
– large in size, 50L
– got an inner bin where you can take it out to pour the content to the green collection box from council, it is easy for me to wash it from time to time
– stainless steel outlook makes it looks great
– the paddle is wide and the cover is in a silent covering design, won’t give a big sound when closing
-the hinge to connect cover and bin seems sturdy
This Amazon Basics 50L Kitchen Bin represents good quality and value — I am using the considerably more expensive Simple Human Bin I already own as a yardstick. At the time of review this Amazon bin costs 52.99 and arrives very well packed.
The “out of the box” impression is of a well made product with an attractive and practical design. The size is generous and would suit a family kitchen whilst, despite it having a stainless steel look, the finish isn’t a fingerprint magnet.
The interior plastic liner is easily removable and feels as though it will last, plus its rim makes it easy to fir/remove a liner bag. In use the bin stays in place thanks to rubber pads underneath it.
I like the foot operated opening mechanism which works very well and the lid is damped so it closes gently. Another thoughtful feature is that given the bin is likely to be placed near a wall, the lid only opens to a maximum of 90 degrees to the base so the lid won’t damage your wall decorations behind it when opened.
To me kitchen bins are one of those products which can be surprisingly expensive given their simplicity, this Amazon Basics version delivers a pleasing, practical design and good build quality at a surprisingly modest price.

Rectangular soft touch 50L Stainless steel bin. This is nice and large in size, so great for a family kitchen! Fits a normal size bin bag in perfectly and everything feels pretty high quality. It’s a none touch item, simply control the lid using you foot. Then when you release you foot it will softly close! Being stainless steel it’s easy to clear / wipe down between use 🙂 it also has rubber feet to avoid movement when it’s in the location you wish. I would say this item is worth around the 40 mark but it’s worth the extra 10 for the quick delivery and amazing protective packaging.
