This tap insulation works very well and stops the outdoor tap from freezing. It is padded very well and locks well once over the tap. Would recommend to stop the tap from freezing or potentially breaking in the cold weather! It is weather proof too and hasn’t ruined from being outside.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good insulation and durable!

I’ve waited until we’ve had some really cold spells to write my review. This is a very simple, basic product but does what it says it will do. So far our tap has not frozen in the cold snaps of weather we have had. It’s very easy to use and I think it would be able to be used for most taps as you can use the velcro to secure as needed. Good value for money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Basic but effective

This is a pack of 2 insulated outside tap covers. They are well made and do plump up a bit when you open them. They are waterproof, easy to fit and should stop my outside tap from freezing up. We haven’t had any really cold weather yet so I am not sure yet how well they perform but look well made, are nice and thick, so hopefully should do the trick.

This cover is super simple to use and offers good frost protection for outside taps. I really like the use of velcro on this to seal around the tap, it is much better than the string I have used before, it can be pulled tight but also is very neat around the tap.
I have used this is freezing and cold weather and it seems to be to the trick. It also does protect the tap from the rain. There is nothing fancy here it is a simple insulated bag (you get 2 in the pack) with a velcro strap at the top to pull round the tap. However I think the simplicity is it’s strength as it is simple to take off and off quickly.
I think it will fit most taps as you can shape it around the tap but best suited to those taps with a small pipe too so you can enclose that.
If you want something that is basic, simple and quick then this is a good solution and protects taps fine, it’s worked well on our outside tap. However this is basic, if you have a tap with a larger and longer pipe as well I think it might be better to get something that covers much more than just the tap but it does what it says and works well.

They cover the outside tap as advertised. The materials are polyester with a waterproof coating and a cotton lining, the velcro secures well and can be tightened to suit the tap size.

Yet to be tested in rain and freezing conditions. Came vacuum-packed for some reason.

For the price I suppose these are ok, but to be honest I would rather have one decent cover than these two. They are a snug fit, but they do fit, and the velcro fastening keeps them in place. The main problem is that they have very little actual insulation in them, they are thin and lightweight. If your tap is in a sheltered spot they would be OK, but if it is in an exposed location and there is a decent frost I wouldn’t want to rely on these. So within these limitations they are just about OK, beyond that, sorry no.

Brightly orange and suppled in a 2 pack, theses should keep your outdoor standard taps snug and frost-free over winder. Make sure you check the size as this fitted very tightly over the tap with no other vertical room to spare. The Outer and inner oxford nylon gives good rain protection and the inner lining is quite warming if you put your hand inside, so should give some protection to the tap when enclosed. The tap cover is fixed via a 2 piece Velcro strap which is used to put the open end tight against the pipe body and should give an effective joint when fitted. Overall this is far better the wrapping bubble-wrap or cloth around the exposed pipes and feels well made. secure stitching and fits well and quickly- took me only 1 minte – which included putting my shoes on!

This is a pretty basic insulated bag to go over outside taps in the hope of preventing them freezing in cold weather. I did not hold out much hope when the package arrived, as it did not look very substantial due to being vacuum packed. After letting it air for a few minutes I investigated further. it had plumped up significantly. The bags are fairly small – 20cm by 14 cm at a push, and are a black water resistant fabric which is described as 420D Oxford. They can be pulled tight around the tap using velcro straps, which are included.

I like that the covers are very unobtrusive and quick to take on and off. I think the padding is probably sufficient – we haven’t had very cold weather to test them since receiving – but if you intend to have only minimal use of the tap over winter I might pop some bubble wrap around the tap first. another option might be to use both bags on one tap.

One thing I don’t understand however, is why the tap is protected from frost – but potentially you have exposed pipe regardless. Especially as the pipe may be underground, and/or on the ground where it is colder. Surely the pipe could freeze at that point instead?

However the design of the tap I am using them for comes straight out the wall so luckily I avoid that issue. For the low cost of two bags I think these are beneficial. It is a simple low maintenance item that can be reused year after year, and could help avoid hefty plumbers’ bills. Worth having.
