I think I underestimated the size of this when ordering, it’s a sizeable unit. Consideration needed for where to place it.
I’d looked at robot vacs a while back, but none seemed like they would quite do the job…this one however, does everything. It’ll work its way round the room, give the place a hoover, head back to base, empty itself, then head back out & mop the place. Have it run round the place once you’ve left for work…
If you’ve hard floors, this is probably a 5 star machine for you, it does a great job on the mopping & hoovering.
Carpets , it’s not quite the ultimate machine, just because it has these whisping brushes that reach out beyond the body of the machine to do the edges and corners….fine on hard floors, just not as good on carpets (under the unit works fine on the carpet).
The self emptying is great, a small machine like this would need emptied every time it was used, but with the charging dock doing it for you, it’s a great option. Ok, you still need to empty & fill the charging dock, but nowhere near as often.
We all have busy lives & this takes care of a tedious chore.
This thing is the future of cleaning. I have never had a cleaner floor. I am a fan of ECOVACS because these vacuums are fantastic. I don’t know how robot vacuum cleaners can improve any further. The app experience has also been great and I know it will only get better with updates. Engineers thought of everything when creating its design.
I’ve been waiting for a robot that can lift a mop to get across carpets for a long time, and here it is!
cleans quite well is practical and fully automatic.
Until a few weeks ago I was perplexed by the quality of the app, but I was pleased to notice that it has been improved a lot.
I have owned a couple of robot vacuum cleaners in the past and they were “OK”, nothing bad but they never really cleaned that well. Pretty good in the hallway but always had problems going from the hardwood floor to the pile carpet in the living room. The ECOVACS Deebot T20 is on a whole different level!
This is what I would call a real robot vacuum cleaner in that it does just about everything itself. I rarely need to get involved other than to empty the rubbish container from the charging station and refill it with water. Apart from that, the Deebot T20 organises itself. It knows when to recharge and goes back to the charging station, docking automatically like a car with the auto-park feature. It is fascinating to watch! Oh, and it cleans itself too!
It has very precise mapping onboard. It scans the rooms making an internal map of where all the obstacles are and then it very precisely moves around them however, unlike my previous robot vacuum cleaners this one actually manages to clean right up to the edges! Also if an object appears that it has not been mapped it has obstacle avoidance built-in, so it is never a problem.
Another really cool feature is that if you have a spill in the kitchen you can just call the Deebot T20 with your voice and it will come and clean up the spill, whether it is liquid or dry it doesn’t matter, it just deals with it efficiently and then returns to it’s charging station. Amazing!
The Deebot T20 also handles the transition from hardwood floors to carpets with ease. It can sense the transition and raise its wet mops above the carpet to continue vacuuming.
There are just so many good things about this ECOVACS Deebot T20 that I could go on forever. This is like science fiction realised. It really is that good. Yes, it is not cheap but in my opinion, you get what you pay for and this particular robot vacuum cleaner is worth every penny of the asking price.
Almost perfect! Makes keeping the house clean much easier although there is room for improvement. If you’re thinking of buying one of these, there are a few things to think about. It’s great for hard floors which I have plenty of but it doesn’t like thicker rugs and the brushes are starting to wear out quicker than they should so I’ve resorted to pulling up the thicker rugs and hoovering them separately which rather defeats the object. It doesn’t like rugs with tassels as they get caught. You have to spend quite a bit of time preparing the room before you can use the hoover as it needs to be able to move around easily so using the autoclean isn’t really an option. The battery life is lower than I wanted and as I have quite a bit of floor space, the hoover can’t clean my house in one go. It does pick up alot of dust though, I have to empty quite alot so it’s doing its job. It has a mind of its own, it goes over areas it’s already done and is a bit random. Having said all that, I’m glad I bought it but probably should’ve gone for an upgraded version.
I’ve had this just over a month now and it’s honestly the best thing I’ve ever bought. I’ve told everyone I know about it as I’m so pleased, wish I’d got him sooner!
We’ve named him Hector although we tend to call him Deebot as Alexa doesn’t understand anything other that this. Works great with Alexa if I’m in another room and want to set him off, otherwise I just press his button as I walk past and off he goes.
He doesn’t actually save me any time as I tend to find myself wandering around after him and watching him clean!
He picks up a surprising amount so I find I need to empty him after a couple of times (I run him daily as we have kids and cats so lots of food bits, hair and scattered litter every day)
He’s done a great job so far, he occasionally gets stuck on the little ledge next to my patio doors, it’s about an inch high so he gets the front on and then gets stuck. Sometimes manages to reverse and get himself down but I’ve had to rescue him a couple of times! Also under my TV unit, he manages to push some items blocking him out of the way and then gets stuck under there too.
I’d definitely get another if this one stopped working, I’d probably upgrade to one with room mapping to prevent it trying to get places that it shouldn’t but that’s my only negative!
After some initial teething problems getting it set up, it works great. Did what I expected it to do. If you want know know more keep reading:
The wi-fi integration on this Deebot isn’t great. If you can’t separate the 5ghz and 2.4 good networks in your house you may struggle to set it up. I ended up taking my phone and the Deebot to the bottom of my garden to ensure I was out of range on my 5ghz network. One I did this I read able to set it up via the app.
The app itself is slow to connect to the Deebot. But once connected it’s fine. I ended up using my account and signing in on both my phone and my wife’s so we both have access to the device.
The Deebot is dumb. By this it doesn’t map your room or your floor plan. It just bumbles around your house doing what it can. I will miss some areas, and other areas it will vacuum to with an inch of its life.
While is running the suction is ok for a daily trundle while you do other things, but it won’t replace a good vacuum cleaner. It does have a max setting but still not as good as a good vacuum cleaner. It does pick up well and the sweeping brushes at the front do get into corners and the edge of your room.
We have both carpets (low pile) and lino and it works on both with no problem. It even managed to move over the lino to carpet gripper with no problems.
The battery on normal running last for about 1.5 hours. I find that is enough for it to do is best for 1 floor of the house.
When finished because it doesn’t map your house it did is best to find the barge dock. This can take some time as it bounces around your rooms looking for it’s home.
One thing I didn’t know when I bought this is it had consumable items. The front sweeping brushes and the beater bar have a life span. Your can buy them on Amazon. But be aware you will have to replace them. I don’t know how long they will last as my Deebot is only a few days old.
Overall I would recommend this for daily cleaning to supplement your normal cleaning. Great little device.
It’s taken me a while to leave a review as I wanted to make sure I was thorough with this and so I wanted to use it for a while before I left a review.
Little Tobbee came very well packaged and as I have prime he arrived the next day, I managed to snap him up during a promotion, so he only cost me 140, and honestly what a great expense he was!
I first started testing Tobee (that’s the name I have given him, I know he is not a person, but honestly, it’s like he has a personality and genuinely I have laughed at him getting stuck with the mop and chasing the cats around the house) using the remote he comes with, as I have an aversion to instruction manuals I just clicked buttons away having no idea what they did and off he went. I use him mainly downstairs, so the living room and the kitchen, and as I have currently 3 cats, a lot of fur gets collected in the rug in the living room and he does a good job at hoovering that, also providing us with a little twerk as he adjusts from hard floor to carpet. In terms of suction, he does a lot better than I expected and collects a lot of rubbish for his size, I empty him after every use and he is full at that point.
After installing the app and connecting Tobee (using the QR code on his side) the setup was easy to do and super easy to get him set up on the network. I have since scheduled cleaning every day at different times and so far he hasn’t failed to do that.
When he is scheduled to clean, I have noticed he works for around 1h30m, which I assume is his battery life and when he is running low he takes himself to his charging dock that I have set up under the TV stand.
Overall this robot vacuum cleaner is great and having had a chance to use him for a while I honestly mean it when I say that I still would pay full price for him if I had to.
The only thing at the moment that I cannot comment on is his compatibility with Alexa as I haven’t tried to get him to work that way.
Other than that amazing little product that does a lot more than I expected. 5/5
Ok picked this up on a black friday sale, was not expecting much, but did some research and reviews were good. Well it, well he has arrived. Not named him yet. He is a he because he wonders around quietly getting on with the job without little fuss or need for recognition. Only satisfaction he requires is when i check and empty how much dust he collects up. He is intelligent because he rarely gets stuck and needs my help setting free from his corner. He finds his dock to recharge he never falls down the stairs. I set a program on google home for him to start hoovering at 7.30 am 7 days a week so he is just finishing when we get up. He is inspiring because now i feel i need also to do some cleaning around the house while he is hoovering. first day we had him we set him to work everywhere and he collected an amazing amount dust and stuff. Over just a week the dust hopper is no where near filling so much. He has done such a good job, i am thinking of reducing his hours to once every two days. He is such a good worker i feel guilty that i might wear him out to soon. My partner on first impressions said it would never replace a human. But I am not so sure, he does more hoovering than her. She never got into the corners either. No seriously , yes i thought before purchasing it , it was most likely a gimmick that would be more trouble than it was worth. But no honestly it is a welcome addition to the home . I have a mixture of wood floor and carpet and he deals with them all without complaint. Time will tell, but so far he has performed floorlessly …. Started by using remote, then installed app to control it. and then went on line youtube video to learn how to connect it to google home. Now i can start hoovering while away from home. Which does startle the kids a bit. Honestly i went from sceptical to , why did i not have one of these before.
I was dubious that this would be powerful enough when I ordered this and slightly concerned that it would get itself stuck in the numerous corners and dead ends that the furniture in my (slightly cluttered) house creates. However, I am extremely impressed. Suction wise, it seems great. It appears to switch fan speeds depending on the depth of carpet pile (or at least it noticeably changes noise) and quite happily collects crumbs and even spilt sugar from carpeted areas. Although it bounces around a bit when negotiating its way out of a dead end, it does it faster and more efficiently than I expected.
One of the things that impressed me the most was its edge and corner cleaning. When edge mode is selected, it quite happily trundles round the edge of the room, settee, table or whatever it is close to at the time. It negotiates corners and even complex shapes, keeping the sweeper brushes in contact with the edge really well.
Cleaning and maintenance wise, hair does get wrapped around the main brush as you would expect. However, the brush itself is quite easy to remove and clean and there is a small tool included that has a sharp cutter (safely shielded) that makes the job quite easy. The collector bin is easy to remove and filter cleaning is simple and straightforward.
Battery life seems quite good – although I haven’t had it long enough to see how fast the battery degrades. It lasts longer than an hour on a single charge. This allows it to thoroughly clean a largeish carpeted lounge (9m x 14m) with quite a lot of furniture for it to negotiate. I would say that the governing factor is more likely the capacity of the dust / fluff collector rather than the battery when cleaning carpeted areas. I was a little concerned about the stated requirement to have the charger on a clear unobstructed wall. However, experimenting, if you are not too bothered about tit taking a little longer to find its way home, I have mine in a corner
This model doesn’t map the rooms so its not possible to use the Alexa app to tell it to clean a particular room or area and therefore the Alexa integration really only allows you to start and stop it. However, realistically, there is not a lot more you would want. You can rename it so you are not stuck with calling it “Deebot”.
Overall, extremely impressed. Plug it in, charge it up, hit auto on the remote and leave it to it. And… Although somewhat concerned that the wife wouldn’t like it, my concerns were completely unfounded. She loves it!
This is a great little bot for the price. Cleans well, the suction is OK, picks up most of the dirt and cat hair. Has trouble if the pet hair is more ingrained into the carpet, misses that sometimes. The app works well – it takes a little time on initial setup for the wifi to be recognised, and if you switch the whole thing off for any reason then it takes quite a few mins for it to come back “online” with the wifi. But it does sort itself out eventually. For a small space, like my flat, edge mode works the best because it’s more systematic in its approach to finding its way around – automatic seems quite haphazard (especially when you have a lot of furniture for it to work around). But it still slowly finds its way around the house, bumping into things, and scaring my cat!
The integration with Alexa is useful; you have to enable the “Ecovacs Deebot” skill to link it up (which is not included in the instructions – I had to google to find out how to link it all up correctly). I just wish there were a few more specific voice commands you could use with Alexa, because it’s essentially “start cleaning” (Auto) and “return to base” (or “start charging”). I would like to be able to tell it to start “edge mode” directly, or select which mode you want when you set up a timer, etc. This additional help and functionality in the software would raise my rating to 5 stars.
