Contrary to what another reviewer wrote, you CAN use this hose with a pressure washer: you just need an additional piece. The business end of the hose has a fixed valve (very useful!) and a 3/4″ male thread. You can get adapters to fit all types of appliance – whether the included spray for cars or garden, or a pressure washer.

I love how the hose is completely kink free. Five stars from me.

So far this is working well. the problem I’ve had before with hoses is that they don’t fit well enough to the taps. They either leak a bit or fall off under pressure. This one does neither of those so that’s a good start. It’s easily long enough to reach all the parts of my medium sized gardens. Haven’t had it long enough to know how durable the piping itself will be with protracted use, but will worry about that if it happens.

My allotment plot is a little distance from the nearest standpipe, and in a dry summer, I could spend a lot of time and energy carrying watering cans back and forth. So a good, long hose which I can store in a small space is a must! This hose is a great length at 100 feet, yet it shrinks to a very compact and lightweight form when emptied of water.
The hose is crinkly when dry – but when connected to the tap it expands in length and the crinkles fill out to create a smooth outer surface. The instructions give some useful advice on how to treat the hose at first use to ensure it expands fully and therefore is free of twists and potential blockages. Note too that the package includes a washer and PTFE tape to help you achieve a watertight fit to the tap – these are important to use.
The spray gun is a sturdy plastic construction and the tap fitting is brass – a reasonably heavy and therefore substantial quality. The diameter of the hosepipe lets you get up a good level of pressure with the tap on full.

If like me you will be disconnecting the hose after each use, it will be natural to drain it regularly; if leaving it attached to the tap longer term, then the instructions remind you to drain it for storage. Be aware that when it drains it retracts itself so you may find as you are using it, it seems to have a life of its own – there is no issue with recoil as such but you do need to keep an eye on it as it fills and as it drains, the spray gun end can move quite fast and damage small plants or knock over pots.
Best of all, when dry this hose is very light and can be stored in a small area – hanging on a hook and looped around, I would say it takes up less space than a 25 foot conventional hose. It’s also more flexible than a conventional hose so you can pile it in a heap if you like and it will still be compact. Like any hose you will need to treat it with some respect, avoid dragging it over sharp stones, treading on it or otherwise risking puncturing it; it does seem robustly made and should give a lot of good service if looked after.

The really annoying things about traditional hose pipes is that they are often heavy, very stiff making it difficult to reel/un-reel and they take up quite a bit of space even if held on a reel. This makes them somewhat of a pain to use.

Well this option may be the solution to the above. The hose here is a special type of multi-layered material with a metal spring type feature in it which means when stored empty it is very compact and light in weight. Yet, once in use the hose expands to its full length (100ft). This all makes storage, setup and use very easy in comparison to a traditional type hose. Yet despite all this due to the multi-layered construction of the hose wall it is still quite strong and resilient. This makes for a quality hose.

In addition to the basic hose you will find the connectors on each end are made of solid brass rather than plastic meaning they will last for a good length of time. One end also has an on/off lever to shut off the water flow until it is needed. You also get provided with a spray type attachment that can be adjusted to provide the type of water pattern you want. If anything this is the one thing that tends to let down the package as this attachment is made of plastic, buts what worse feels pretty flimsy which tends you to think it may not have as long a service life as the rest of the system.

The last couple of things you find in the box are some spare rubber washers for the brass connectors to prevent any water leakage, a storage bag for the whole system and a hook intended to be hung on the wall as an alternative storage method for the hose. Although it should be pointed out that the instructions do recommend draining any water from the hose when you’ve finished using it, which allows it to shrink back to its compressed form and to store it in the supplied bag in a dry location. It points out this is especially important in cold weather as the water freezing in the hose could risk unnecessary damage.

Overall, this is a good hose system and is sold at a reasonable price, my only suggestion to the maker is that the spray attachment could do with a bit of an upgrade to match the rest of the components.

First thing to notice on unboxing is nice solid brass connectors with one having a shutoff valve – very handy indeed prior to using/shutting off when the mains water is still on. Now I have put this to a tough test, perhaps unfairly as I have it connected to a pressure washer. Suffice to say it passed with flying colours. No leaks whatsoever and after finishing cleaning the car and turning the shutoff valve to off then the mains water to off, then opening the shutoff valve again and continue to use the pressure washer to expel the remaining water in the hose. It was almost therapeutic watching the hose contract and reduce back to its original size. This makes it a lot easier for storage purposes.

Using the supplied 8 pattern spray head it is equally as good and using the “full” setting it provided a fair amount of water pressure.

So to sum up, it handles a decent amount of water pressure, it is light (once the residual water has been expelled), it is easier to store with less chance of tangles, the fixtures and fittings are of good quality. It has totally replaced my existing traditional hose pipe.

Finally, the price itself is very good – happy to award a full 5 star rating. It is a keeper !

This hose pipe looks a little weird and I wasn’t really expecting too much, however it does work very well and comes with handy accessories. The main advantage for me was the small compact size and light weight.
Apart from the actual hose, the accessories include a handy mounting/storage frame, a roll of PTFE tape, three rubber washers of two differing sizes, a storage bag and the all important instructions.

Getting the hose connected and working was very simple. Attach the pistol grip nozzle to one end of the hose and the adaptor to the other. If you already have an outside tap with a hose adapter then that will likely do. In any event, the accessories include a brass tap adapter with a reducer if required.

After connecting up, the hose worked fine on all eight settings. There is a comforting ‘click’ between the nozzle settings which provides good tactile feedback and ensures the setting doesn’t change. A shutoff valve/tap is also included at the nozzle end so the spray nozzle can be removed without turning off the water. On point to note, when finished using the hose and the water has been turned off at the main feed tap, press the nozzle to release trapped water inside the hose before disconnecting the main feed. I didn’t, and got an unexpected shower – won’t do that again. In all fairness, the instructions do mention this, I just forgot.

With the water drained from the hose it can be collapsed down, folded up and stored in the supplied bag.

The instructions do not seem to mention the PTFE tape but I know what it does and how to apply it but in my case it wasn’t needed. Nice touch to include it though.

Good product, good value for money.

As far as hoses go, this is the lightest weight and most compact one I have used. The expandable hose and its fittings all arrive in a branded box with an inner drawstring bag. The bag contains the hose, a multifunction spray nozzle that does different patterns, and all the brass and other fittings needed including a hook to hang it up with. It is leakproof and is so easy to carry around. I like the on and off valve on the hose fitting. The hose quickly expands as it fills with water and stretches out to 100ft. It then shrinks back down in size when the water pressure stops and the water is drained from the hose. Great for small sheds or in my case, arthritic hands that a lightweight hose will make such a difference to using. I am impressed with the quality of this expandable hose and expect to cope better with watering my garden due to the hose being so easy to use.
