Great item, bought for my parents as they get a lot of power cuts. They have already used and were able to charge their phones when the power was out and listen to the radio.

Great little wind up radio that works perfectly & can’t fault. The compass however is pointless as it’s a child’s that doesn’t work at all Radio, light etc, all work perfectly 5

Good little device for my go bag. Only fault I could find was that when you engage the torch facility while playing AM radio, the radio cuts out to a noisy cracking sound. It doesn’t seem to do that on FM though. However, I still consider it good value for money for something used in an emergency situation.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI bought this to be prepared for any power cuts we might have over the winter. This radio arrived very quickly and about 50% charged. I tested the functions and all pretty much works as it should and the motion detection reading lamp is a nice touch.

The only issue I have is when listening to AM frequencies, if I turn on either of the torches, all tuning is lost until the blue charging lights go out (after about 30 seconds of turning off the torch). Not the end of the world as I would think it unlikely that I would need to listen to the radio and use the torch at the same time but I doubt it’s supposed to do that. This doesn’t happen listening to FM stations though.
(Oh – the tuning knob is VERY sensitive.)

I put the radio on the windowsill in the bathroom and listened to it whilst in the bath for about an hour this afternoon/evening with no trouble. Whilst there was still daylight, the solar power charging indicator LED came on which was reassuring. The sound is what you’d expect from something with a small speaker of this size, but it does the job nicely.

Another bonus is the inclusion of an iPhone lightning charger adapter which I briefly tested successfully to see if it charged my phone.

I’ve now charged it to 100% using the USB (cable included) and will update my review in due course, but so far so good and would recommend on first impressions.

    1st Feb update:

Still going strong. I use it for about an hour a day, most days and it’s left on the bathroom windowsill behind the frosted glass. I’ve not had to charge it yet although we’re now down to 3 out of 4 battery lights illuminated. Quite impressive when you think of the reduced hours of daylight we have over the winter.
After ~3 months of use, I would recommend.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersCame quickly and well packaged.
All features work as advertised, including the crank winder (red light comes on when you turn it to indicate it’s charging). Unit arrived with some charge in it (25 to 35%).
SOS siren works fine and is accompanied by a flashing light. Just note that you have to press the button and keep it pressed for 4 or 5 seconds to activate it, if you just press it normally and let go it won’t do anything. Then to turn it off it’s just a normal quick press (which is a good thing lol).
The sound from the radio is fine for the size of the speaker and the price (don’t expect to run a disco with it with deep loud bass and stupid volumes). It’s crystal clear and ample.
The tuning is the old style tuning knob which is very sensitive so be gentle otherwise you can easily overshoot the station. Always use the aerial for best FM performance.
All light settings are spot on, including the little fold down reading lamp on the top. This can be set to either stay on or to only come on for 30secs when the sensor detects infra red from your body passing in front of it. The main torch is decent and bright too with 3 different settings (just keep pressing the torch button to go through them).
Charging port and charging wire supplied are fine, you just put the small end into the upper micro USB input on the right side of the unit (under the rubber flap) and connect the other wider end to a USB charging plug which plugs into the mains. The blue charging lights will light up to where the charge is up to with the highest step flashing blue indicating that the unit is charging up. When fully charged all 4 blue lights will be steadily lit up.
After testing the features, including cranking the winder handle for one minute to prime it, get it plugged into the mains via the supplied cable and charge it up fully before normal use.

All in all, I am very impressed with this buy, it’s pretty solid and well built. You can tell a lot of thought and good workmanship has gone into crafting this brilliant little gem.

    Excellent value for money.
