Brilliant small chainsaw
This hand chainsaw is excellent. I love gardening and this wee chainsaw cuts through reasonably thick branches etc. Great for household DIY to. I strongly recommend this and love the fact you can also get it in pink, it’s light, easy to use,you get two batteries each with 30 minutes which is reasonable for what I needed it for. Strongly recommend!!!
Good when fully charged. Nice hard case. Chain oil not included.
The hard case is a big plus for me.
-Keeps everything safe for convenient storage.
Most obvious minus point is that chain oil is required but not supplied.
For casual users of powered garden tools, tensioning, oiling and changing of the chain may be unexpected considerations but it’s relatively straightforward with this mini-saw.
Having 2 batteries is good and each battery has an integrated charge remaining display.
The mains charger unit has it’s own LED, switching from red to green when charged.
But note: SAW ONLY WORKS WHEN BATTERY IS FULLY CHARGED.
See my video; even with 4 illuminated bars, saw won’t even run continuously let alone cut.
(And yes, I did adjust tension to see if that was a factor)
With a fully charged battery, this sailed through a lump of 4″x2″ timber which is good enough for me. And it continued to cut up a load of 3″ or so branches, no problem.
Would be good for cutting up pallets (after checking for nails).
It comes with some floppy, grippy gloves.. fine for hoeing, raking and picking up leaves but not suitable for use sawing branches imo.
Functional eye protection goggles are supplied. I have my own less bulky ones but these must be worn whenever using the saw. This is common sense.. not just an Elfin Safety whim.
2 spare chains are included which is nice but there’s no guidance about chain sharpening.
Saw is at a discount right now and is a worthy purchase. Not sure it would be at the full published price.
Overall, recommended -as long as you don’t have ideas about cutting down any mature trees.
It needs a little break every now and the
Bought for my mother who has mobility issues and a bitter stubbornness to remain independent. It is lightweight and easy to use. Used to cut a garden gate and a bunch of planks up. Used one battery, which was easy to charge and it did hold its charge, although only five minutes into the job, the machine stopped working. Thinking the battery had already been used up, the second battery was attached, but it still wouldn’t start up. We put it down for ten minutes and had a cuppa instead. Started fine after and it didn’t do it again. We were able to continue for another 40 mins until the job was complete.
Light and easy to use, works well for a reasonable price.
iDoo 6″ Mini Cordless Chainsaw: I’ve been aware of the iDoo range although never owned any of their products previously. It seems to focus on technology-on-a-budget items, however wasn’t sure what to expect from the general build and quality pleasantly surprised with this.
I note that this started its life at 90 but has now settled at around 70 and, for that I’d say it’s a good buy and worth a punt. It is well made, comes with 2 batteries so they can be swapped out – not many popular branded items offer that at reasonable prices. The case is excellent and provides strong, dry storage, it offers 3 chains as well as gloves and eye protection (which are adequate).
The key thing is it works! I’ve so far only done a couple of jobs – large shrub that required some taming and a couple of new edging batons cut to size, but it cuts cleanly (recognise it is new), is easy on the battery usage which can be monitored by the clear display which provides a battery-charge countdown, and has a very accessible tension knob to save a fiddle.
On the very slight downside, although sturdy it’s quite plasticky you could identify it as a cheaper model quite easily, that said it’s comparatively reasonably priced and while I’ll definitely find good usage for it, the Mini chainsaw isn’t something I’ll be using every day so why invest wads of cash for something glossier if this will do the job, on this, only time will tell and I’ll update any findings as time goes on but for now I’d say this is a very fair tool.
Works very well
Great cordless chain saw, very light weight and easy to use. Comfortable, handy & works very well. Have used this to cut off excess tree branches. Very happy with this and would recommend
It's a snip (chop) at the current price 🪚
Let’s not beat around the bush ….. iDOO is a brand I had never heard of before but then again at approx 60 you are not paying 3 times the price for a Makita product. It gives you pretty much everything you need in this case, a pair of general purpose gloves, a pair of safety specs (personally I would probably just use these for general gardening use – I would source a decent pair of thick leather gloves and a pair of fully wrap-around glasses that protect the eyes because a splinter in the eye is not very pleasant !).
You get 3 chains and two batteries so one can be on charge while the other one is being used. These are 20V 200mAh so they are not overly powerful but compared to my 5000mAh Makita equivalents but then as I said you are not paying Makita prices.
I would not want to cut anything bigger than the 6″ suggested and this is really more suitable for general branch lopping and general bush trimming but it is handy and anything bigger will get tackled by my trusty petrol Danarm.
Hope this helps ….
Very good…
Really impressed with this little chainsaw at a very fair price. Comes as a nice kit in a hardshell storage case, but look how things are arranged before you take them out, because it took me a while to work out how to repack the case correctly.
You get a nice selection of accessories; spare chain, glasses, gloves and a little adjustment screwdriver. Two batteries is very handy and once fully charged, they had power and lasted well. The chainsaw itself is efficient and cuts very well. The only downside i could see, and it isn’t even worthy of knocking off one star, was the chainsaw body didn’t seem very tough, like it would smash if dropped on a hard surface but assuming you are careful, as you would hope to be with a chainsaw anyway, it’s a good tool at a great price. Liked it, recommended.
easy to handle
The first thing one notices with this mini chain saw is that it is lightweight thus making it easy to handle.
Unlike full sized industrial chainsaws this product uses rechargeable batteries rather than petrol and it is nowhere near as dangerous to use. The chainsaw can be used for many tasks that a full sized chainsaw would be totally unsuitable for. For trimming shrubs this saw will do far less damage, it is good for lobbing off small branches when maintaining trees and it is good for rough cutting through timber products such as planks, floorboarding rafters etc. etc.
The mini chainsaw comes with a spare battery so one can always have a backupp fully charged when needed. It also comes with two sp-are chains which is twice as many as some similar products that only have one spare chain and some have none. The chains are of good quality with stong teeth to cut through any wood / timber. It all comes in one fo the strongest and best designed carry cases that I have seen with some similar products. The case is strong and the internal design allows for the saw, the spare chains, the two batteries and the included gloves to fit inside comfortably and have a fair bit of space left to hold some small bits and pieces. The plastic case is nt flimsy like some other products, it snaps shut tightly and is lightweight so it can easily be carried.
Overall this is better than my other similar products and it does have more spares and a much better carry case so apart from the good quality this is a good value product so I can recommend it.
VALUE OF MONEY
This is the best deal I have ever gotten on a chainsaw. It was listed at 69.99, but snagged a 50% off coupon, so only spent 34.99. Everything is well organized in a handy case, and when I’m done using it, I can quickly put all the accessories back into the case. The chainsaw is very light and easy to assemble. I can do it in a snap by myself. A long shield covers almost the entire top part of the chain. It comes with three chains and two batteries. Since the bushes in my backyard are small, the first battery still had some power left after I pruned them all. I have another extra battery that I can use, which enables me to do more work. However, I wouldn’t suggest using it to cut large chunks of wood, because its power is only 400 watts, and cutting too big of wood would be tough. I think safety is crucial when using a chainsaw. It has a non-skid rubber handle and a safety lock to prevent accidental triggering. It also comes with a pair of gloves and goggles. I highly recommend this product, it impressed me.
Good quality mini chainsaw
This is a very good piece of kit at a very reasonable price.
The chainsaw comes in a solid and very handy storage case. Along with the saw, you also receive two batteries, two spare saw chains, a pair of gloves, a pair of safety goggles, a charging adapter, and an instruction manual.
The saw has a comfortable weight and feels well-made and sturdy. The chain can be tensioned easily without the need for tools thanks to the handy adjustment knob, and it is easy to remove with the locking/unlocking cover knob.
The 20-volt batteries charge well, are easy to install and remove, and have a handy remaining charge indicator. I am not a fan of the gloves, as they are not safety gloves, and I prefer not to wear gloves when operating power tools. The clear plastic safety goggles are a nice inclusion, but I have my own pair, which I find more comfortable, so I will be using those.
The pure Cooper motor made short work of the logs I had in my garden. The chainsaw can cut logs up to 6 inches in diameter and is very effective at cutting through small branches quickly and easily. The baffle that covers the top of the blade is very handy and helps to reduce the amount of sawdust that is kicked up towards you. It can be adjusted up to 165C to help protect yourself when cutting at most angles.
I really like how comfortable this chainsaw is to use. I also appreciate that the manufacturer has included a total of three chains with this saw, a carry case, gloves, and safety goggles, all for a very reasonable price. I would happily recommend it.
It’ll Cut Up Your Christmas Tree
We already own a small chainsaw, but it’s a petrol one and it’s a good brand, so I’m comparing chalk and cheese here
I’d say this chainsaw was best suited for trimming back the thick branches on your trees.
It’s reasonably lightweight so it can be held in one hand whilst you’re holding whatever needs cutting with the other. I do like the protective shield over the chain.
It comes in a handy thick plastic case, however it’s not obvious how you should pack everything into it. I managed to fit everything in though and can lock it.
It comes with:
2 batteries
Charging plug
2 spare chains
Protective glasses
A pair gloves (they won’t help at all if you catch yourself on a chainsaw)
There’s a dial to adjust the chain tension so that’s pretty easy and the battery packs have power buttons that when pressed, show how much power is left in them.
Overall, it’s a reasonably good chainsaw for a low price.
Lightweight & compact - great for tree pruning
iDOO 6inch Mini Cordless Chainsaw
Chainsaw comes in a sturdy plastic storage with handle.
Things to consider
– you have a spare battery, so you can charge one whilst using the other – though at 2000mAh they aren’t massive. Charger is a plug transformer with round tip
– it weighs ~1.2kg, so its easy enough to use, but also the blade is less than 15cm long, so this is a mini chainsaw
– comes with spare chains, clear instructions on how to change
– the gloves (and goggles) supplied are a bit hopeless, so you probably need your own leather pair
– its great at intermediate jobs, where your branch is a bit thick for loppers and its not worth getting the saw out, works fine on 10cm thick branches
Overall – good option alongside your loppers, needs to be used with care 4 stars.
Light and very handy.
The iDOO 6-inch Mini Cordless Chainsaw is a handy tool for cutting tree branches and trimming your garden. It’s lightweight at just over 1kg, with a non-slip rubber handle for easy one-handed operation.
The high-temperature hardened chain ensures smoother and quieter cutting. Plus, the tool-free chain adjustment and quick installation make it convenient.
It comes with 2 batteries, 3 chains, and an ABS carrying case for easy storage and portability. Overall, a practical choice for small cutting tasks in your garden.
Easy to use, very effective
I was very wary about buying a brand that was completely unknown to me. I was looking for something far more mainstream. I have a full-sized Makita chainsaw, for example, which I have had for years, and was hoping for something in a recognized brand. Given that SIMPY was simply an unknown name, 65.00 (at the time of writing, apparently discounted from 90.00) this was not a cheap item for an unknown name, but I was impressed with all the extras, and I took a risk based on the other reviews.
When it arrived I was very impressed with the solid case. Opening it, all the advertised contents were enclosed including, most importantly, the saw, a spare chain, two batteries and the chain tightening screwdriver. Throw away the gloves, or save them for a chilly day, because they are not protective in any way. The goggles are ridiculously big and of no use whatsoever.
The batteries were already fully charged and the saw itself was fully assembled, complete with chain, so all I had to do was get it out of the box and press the two buttons to go. It worked an absolute treat. I had a specific job for which I had purchased it, and it was perfect – quick, powerful and smooth. I went slightly mad, chainsawing stuff I would normally have done with a bow saw, and it was great. The largest I tried on this first run was 5 inches diameter. There was simply no resistance, and the chain powered through.
It was not good with anything too small (say two inches or less), which were still best done with some strong loppers.
I used it for about 15 minutes, and there was no sign of the battery failing.
This review is on the basis of just one use, and if anything changes I will update this review, but at the moment it is about to become when of my favourite garden tools, just the thing to chuck in the wheelbarrow along with the other usual tools just in case something needs a quick slice.
This mini chainsaw comes with a carry case
This mini chainsaw comes with a lightweight carry case, including 20V 2000mAh removable and rechargeable lithium batteries and a fast charger, 3 pcs chainsaw chains for replacement. Can be used alternately and charged at any time to meet longer working needs. It has 6 layers of protection functions including overload, over-temperature, and overcharge, and has a longer life. The electric chainsaw uses a pure copper motor, high efficiency cutting. Only takes 10 seconds to cut logs with a diameter of about 4-6 inches, and can easily cut branches, small logs and wood.
