Stainless steel jam pa
Had a cheaper aluminium one but it discoloured after using it to steam. Decided that was not good and now have a shiny stainless steel one which will not tarnish. Successfully used it to make 8lb of Marrow and Ginger Jam. Brilliant.
Great pa
I make mainly chutney and have found this pan to be perfect. I don’t know why I didn’t buy one sooner! It cleans so easily and no burning on the bottom of the pan. Would highly recommend
Dont hesitate if it's what you need - Excelle
This is excellent –
A solid build jam pan for a small size hob. It immediately greatly transformed the flavour of my jams and pickles and quickened the time it took to produce batches.
Re: the burnt pan pic below – a burnt pan is the mark of a neglegent cook not reflective of the pan itself.
Solid base
I made sweet chilli jam in this, and found that unlike other pans I have used, it didn’t stick to the bottom of the pan and burn easily. Also, easy to clean.
My honourable jam pan had to be retired with a change of cooker. I bought this and was initially disappointed as it was much smaller. However, it is just the right size. I put eight pounds of jam ingredients in and there was room to spare. So the disappointment receded and the jam making has begun.
Perfect jam on induction stove
I have made jams and jellies in this pan and they were perfect. My old jam making pan would not work on my induction hob, this pan worked and it came to setting point very quickly. So glad I made the investment, worth every penny.
Check the size!
Take note of the size and capacity. This arrived as labelled as “mini” jam pan. A normal saucepan would be bigger! Superb quality, and on that basis I reordered the larger size. Grateful that the returns process was very easy!
Since buying a new cooker my old 9 litre maslin never gets up to jam set temperature so bought this smaller one and it does the job really well. It actually fits really well on the smaller size ring on my ceramic hob, doesn’t take so long to boil, and is as well made as my old expensive one from Lakeland. Even better was the price. I have seen this locally for 35 so I consider this a really good buy. Made plum jam in it, no splashing and easy to pour from.
It’s not massive. I bought this because I have an new induction hob and needed to replace my very large preserving pan which was not compatible.
This pan is not very large, in fact it’s very small but would be good to do a small batch of jam maximum five jars I’d say
Excellent Maslin Pa
I have just started making jam and with my first attempt I used an ordinary pan and I ended up with the jam boiling over! I decided to buy a proper preserving pan and came upon this one which I could use on my induction hob. It arrived the next day and I used it straight away. I did 1.1kg of blackberries and there was no problems. It didn’t boil over, in fact I could possibly have done a few more blackberries ( if I had them). The jam is delicious. The pan was easy to clean, nothing had stuck to the bottom. It is very sturdy and I’m very impressed with it.
Excellent produc
Ordered as a birthday present and delighted how well it was received. The pan was bought to deal with pickling and is a good size for domestic use.
Well build with a useful spout and handle
Not easy to clea
Love the size but if you get anything burnt on bottom ohhhh not nice. Brought to use for small batches jam/persevere making has my old aluminium one I have had 20+ yrs is twice the size but so much easier to maintain.
Good size for a beginne
I am new to jam and jelly making so chose the smaller size, and it has suited me very well. I don’t make large quantities of marmalade, so this size is perfect, easy to handle, sturdy and easy to clean.
Great purchase
I wanted to make some marmalade and needed a bigger pan than I had so I thought I’d get a proper preserve pan and I’m glad I did. I used a little bit of butter on the base to stop anything sticking and after hours of simmering and boiling the fruit the pan looked as good as new. It was very easy to clean.
Great little jam pan.
Excellent, thick based pan for small quantities of jam. No need for full blast heat fir rolling boil. Indeed, that is counter productive, as that’s when it can stick and caramelise the sugar, giving it burnt taste. I am delighted with it.
I bought this for my mother, who loves making jam but struggles using a normal high sided pot as apparently this takes ages to boil down.
This pan is really easy to clean, the “perfect” size and the slanted sides means the liquid evaporates without seeping back into the jam. There are bigger and smaller ones around but this one can be stored easily without taking up too much room in the cupboard (although it would also look quite striking on an open shelf).
A must for jam fans everywhere!
If you want to make small amounts of preserves and/or you have an induction hob this small maslin pan is just the job. I no longer make huge batches – 3 or 4 jars is enough for me – this pan easily copes with the amounts I want to make and isn’t too heavy to lift to pour the preserves into the jars. Well made it cleans up easily. An added bonus is that it fits the rings on my induction hob perfectly.
A Worth While Purchase
I am new to jam making so didn’t want to spend too much money on a pan I might not use again! However I’m delighted with the pan as I can make a small batch of jam in it. It is a little light and slides on the hob if you are not careful. Easy to clean, small enough to store and works on an induction hob. I will make good use of it.
Perfect for Jam making.
These arrived super quickly, I bought the funnel as well, used it the same day (last night) and it is perfect for jam making, when I used my largest saucepan the jam boils up to the top, the funnel is very, very useful, you no longer get jam spilling over the top of jars. The handles do get hot but we found they cooled down quickly.
Veryeasy to clean, smaller than expected
Love this pan, although I expected it to be larger. Finally used it two days ago, cleaned very easily, it is very sturdy and fits nicely in the top shelf of my kitchen unit. I am looking forward to using this preserve pan again soon, making caramelised red onion chutney.
I do recommend this item.
Excellent jam pan. I started making jam recently as my daughter’s Damson tree produced loads of fruit. However making it in a normal large saucepan proved challenging.
I ordered this based on size, cost and reviews. It’s perfect for my needs (small scale ie 4-6lb jars at a time) and I’ve just made some blackberry jam from blackberries foraged locally. Easy to use, jam thermometer stays nicely in place and it pours straight into jars without spilling everywhere. Very happy with it.
Jam'ulous
Fabulous, received it this afternoon, just cooked 1kg of strawberries with 800g of preserving sugar, loads of room, handles didnt get hot, jam cooked quickly, high sides no splashing on boiling, perfect size, great piece of kit, will use it for many things but perfect for jams, preserves and chutney making. great size, I could do double the recipe, great price too.
Very pleased with my 4.5l pan. Have made loads of pickles and chutneys in it. Easy to handle and doesn’t take over the whole stove. Will be steaming my Christmas pudding in this pan. Washes up OK and very easy to handle with the weight. I cannot say if it would be big enough for those professional jam makers out there, but, for a first time amateur it was everything I wanted.
Good solid pan - ideal for smaller batches.
Great little Maslin pan for those who don’t wish to make preserves for the whole neighbourhood. Half the size of a normal pan, it’s so much easier to pick up and handle. You can easily get 10 small jars of preserve cooked in this – wonderful if you enjoy cooking in small batches, much easier.
I deliberately asked for a small one and is perfect for the quanties i make. The 6 small jars of apple and mint jelly and apple and cranberry port jelly would have probably burt out in a bigger pan- this is using around 1.5kg produce through a jelly bag first. It was big enough for the 2kg of apple and fig chutney too. Could take more.
