It takes about 5 minutes to assemble, so don’t expect that many pieces. But, give this to a 5 year old who loves cars, trucks and wheels – He’s going to have the best afternoon.
It looks cool, the wheels are massive and as it’s LEGO, if he breaks it, you just rebuild it.
Definitely recommend.
This is the great quality that you would expect from Lego.
It comes with clear instructions and is for age 5+ so a good starter set as a younger child moves from larger Lego blocks to more derailed designs.
Once built it’s also enjoyable to play with as it has moving wheels and they can use their imagination.
This is a great little set from Lego. It says 5+ on the box and I’d say that’s accurate for the age of ability.
It has 3 little bags inside and the instructions. It’s relatively quick to put together.

The initial gulp when seeing three bags of bits is soon overcome as they do all fit together neatly and it’s relatively quick to build. It’s such a simple premise, a truck with big wheels, it brings out the child in me and I’m the granny helping build it! I like the little figure who sits inside (complete with safety helmet) and once assembled, it’s just fun to vroom it up and down. It’s smaller than I expected, roughly hand sized, and it has its limitations as it doesn’t come with any extras, although it complements other vehicles in the range of course. Value is as expected, considering Lego lasts a loooong time – so you pay out a little more for a standard truck, but it’ll still be played with for ages.

In the box you receive 3 bags along with 4 tires for the truck.
This set is advertised as being for ages 5+ which I’d say is pretty spot on.
The instructions are very easy to follow and my 5 and 8 year old sons had no issues building this set.
The only thing they needed help with was popping the tires on the rims but once I showed them how, they did the other 3 wheels with no issues.
The set is very well put together, it’s a good size and as mentioned before, it would make a lovely little set for any LEGO fans, young and old!
Fun set, my little girl (5) enjoyed building it, and just needed a bit of help with the wheels.
The Monster truck is a really good size, much bigger than other Lego vehicles we already have.
It would’ve been nice for a few extras to be included, as you do just get the truck and the driver with a helmet.
Otherwise, I’m happy with it, it would make a great little gift.
Let’s face it, Lego is amazing stuff. From how it aids with cognitive development, promotes creativity and imagination, encourages social and emotional skills. To enabling hand-eye coordination, motor skills, focus and concentration and brings mindfulness.
And this set is no exception to that ethos. As ever it got’s the same quality parts and excellent design you get with any Lego set. There’s none of that “bricks that don’t fit” or inconsistent colours as with some cheaper brands of construction set.
Yes it might be small with 104 parts and 71 build stages. But it’s got big chunky tires and a minifigure driver. Plus being Lego city it means it’ll play nicely with other Lego cars. Best of all, when no other adults are about. I can go VROOM VROM VROOM before launching this off a cardboard ramp!
