Better than its bigger brother IMO
I decided to get some hand warmers to help my aching fingers, and I’m pleased to say it seems to work. Ocoopa seemed to be a popular brand, with many reviews on YouTube, they had two models I was interested in, UT2S and UT2S Mini, and despite the plethora of reviews of the (presumably older) UT2S, I struggled to find any comparisons between the two, even on the manufacturers own website. So, I bought both. Attached to this review you’ll find the first and only side by side photos and direct comparison on this planet, to my knowledge…
UT2S.
Good points
These are well made, with a metal casing, presumably aluminium. They can also act as a phone powerbank, and each one has a 5000mAh battery.
Bad points
I didn’t like the long flappy rubber covers over the charging ports; from experience with similar products they’ll flap around loosely until you get fed up and rip them off completely. Pointless.
The more squared off edges of this model made them less comfortable to hold in the hands. I’m an average male with fairly large hands (I play bass guitar) and I expect that people with smaller hands will find these even less comfortable to hold.
They actually get TOO hot. The way both of these warmers work at lower heat settings is that instead of regulating the voltage to the (presumably) heater elements, they simply cycle the power on and off. UT2S has 4 heat settings, and at 2, 3 and 4 it felt the same – too hot to hold comfortably. That was indoors, so in fairness they may be more comfortable outside in colder air. So its basically got 2 settings — 1 = not quite warm enough, and 2,3,4 = too hot.
UT2S mini (UT3055)
Good points
These are presumably a newer design and fix some of the issues of its bigger brother. The rubber flaps are gone, instead the charging ports are on the mating faces so when snapped together in a pocket they’re protected from dirt and fluff.
The shape is more rounded, and that plus being slightly smaller (see side by side photos) makes these far more comfortable to hold.
The UT2S Mini still cycles heat to regulate, but the hottest setting is thankfully not quite as hot as the UT2S, and the lower heat settings seem better controlled
UT2S Minis are lighter, but I didn’t find the bigger ones too heavy either really.
Bad points
Battery in the Mini is/are smaller at 2600 mAh (x2) so mathematically you’d expect them to last half as long. I haven’t tested battery life but I played around with the Minis all day yesterday, not constantly on all the time though, and they hadn’t run out by the evening. For my use I don’t foresee the shorter battery life being a problem. but if you’re hiking up mountains away from electricity for days, this may be more of an issue for you.
Body is plastic rather than metal, so may not be as hard wearing over time. Also, the minis have a strange sweet plasticky smell, not unpleasant but I hope it goes away.
The minis lack the USB-A socket of the UT2S so can’t be used as a power bank. Again, that wasn’t important to me.
In summary, the UT2S Mini is the keeper, and the UT2S older/bigger model is going back.
Impressive!
I bought these for outdoor PE lessons and was impressed that they last several hours. They fit into the palm of the hand and have three heat settings. They are magnetic and fit together to ensure they’re not lost when not in use, or can be made into one larger hand warmer.
There are wrist loops to add on if required. Spending a minimum 4 hours outside each day these remain warm. They take a couple of hours to charge, but heat up within seconds. I bought when they were on offer and have recommended them to others. Fantastic!
Amazing Gift!
I can’t comment myself, as I bought them for my elderly father (in his 70’s) & always suffers with the cold – he said they’re absolutely brilliant. Think he suffers with Raynaud’s, but has never been diagnosed – I suffer with it but not as bad these days. Has travelled to my feet now & not my hands so much, damaged one of them whilst working – trapped under a pallet of boards. My bad..
He says they’re a God-send, warm up very quickly & the battery life on lowest setting is great – massively long.
Sorry all the questions I asked him, will try them out myself one day – bought another pair for my mum (after my Dads rave review) who has been diagnosed & where I get it from.
Cold hands no more...
Partner works outside and suffers from cold hands, 3 heat settings and can be tucked inside gloves, only need to use the first two settings as the third is too ho
Quick to heat, good produc
With 3 stages of heat there is a setting to suit the level of cold of the environment. Heats up in seconds. Battery life has been good. Easy to charge usbc
Works well but could do with more battery
Previously brought the larger size of these for a friend who loves them so got these smaller ones for myself. I like the fit of the larger ones but they are a little chunky in your pockets, so tried these. They are better in the pocket but are almost too small for my hands. But due to the same curved shape they still work well for warming your fingers, so if you don’t have big hands they will probably fit well, and they do feel more portable. Plus they come with a split charging cable so you can charge both on one plug (unlike the big ones that just has 2 separate cables). They charged quickly (about 1 hr, compared to the 3 hrs the big ones take) but that’s because the battery is so much smaller. I got 4hrs on the min setting compared to the 7 hrs I got on min setting on the big ones. So they will be ok for short outings but I already wish I’d got the bigger size for more battery. Heat settings were good. You only have 3 levels on these instead of the 4 like on the bigger ones, but same as the bigger ones I found that level 1 was fine for general use, and higher levels were good for a quick burst if you really feel cold. But I wouldn’t want to run these on max for long if I only get 4hrs on min. They do seem to hold charge well. I charged them 4 days ago and then haven’t used them since other than to check if the battery is holding, and they are still showing as full, so should be fine to leave them ready for when I need them. Although at least with the 1hr charging I do have the option of putting them on to charge before going out (where as the bigger ones it’s just easier to charge overnight if you have spare plugs.)
So overall work well and pretty good for the price (especially compared to old fashioned hand warmers) but since these were 22 when I got them compared to 30 for the big ones, I think it’s probably better to get the bigger ones, even if they are a little chunky. The big ones aren’t more cumbersome than chunky car keys in both pockets and the better battery is a huge selling point for me.
Great gadge
Saw these on tv show so decided to order. So pleased I did, they work brilliantly, better than the dispisable ones I used to use. They are super warm, i keep them in my pockets for my commute to work as I have arthritis in my fingers & these really help.
Perfect size for my pocke
I find my previous handwarmer (a single) is big in my hand and in my pocket. two handwarmers together – same size, but one in each hand or pocket – bliss. Simple to use, but each half needs to be charged independently.
Can be bette
Just like Apple everything is prepared, nothing need to worry about except for the rope( last picture), as you see is hard to push out. For people who really care about the rope please consider that before you purchase. The warmer get warm pretty quick so don’t worry about it.
Love them
These are great. Bought some for my husband for when he goes fishing and when I saw them I got some for standing on the playground at work! Highly recommend.
Effective hand warmers
I bought these for my wife who suffers from cold hands, she has found these excellent, they warm up quickly and provide warm hands even on a cold day.
Important these do come as a pair I bought another Ocoopa product which on the listing read hand warmers, but on delivery there was only one.
They are a good size and fit even small hands perfectly.
The battery life could be better, but a small price for an otherwise great product.
Excellent produc
This is an excellent product that feels warm very quickly on a cold day. Also, having the ability to split the device in half and holding a half in each hand is very useful. It also charges up very quickly.
So good
Bought these as a present for Christmas for my partner.
He has Reynaud’s disease and suffers with circulation problems in his hands in the cold.
He really loves them uses them now all the time out walking.Think I might buy some for myself.
you can adjust the temp and battery life is good too.
Great little gadget.
This little gadget is great. You can keep them in your pocket to keep your hands warm. You can split it in two or keep it together in one block. It heats very quickly and has 3 best settings. Its also rechargeable. Would recommend.
Heat is instant, fits nicely in your hand
Bought these as I struggle with cold fingers even with gloves on. I am really impressed and so glad I purchased them. Every day when I take my dog for a walk I pop them in my pockets. Generally I walk for 60 – 90 minutes and I start the warmers off on 2 red dots, but once my pockets are nice and toastie I drop them down to 1 red dot and they keep my hands lovely and warm. When I get back home there is usually still two blue lights out of three left of the charge. Yes I would recommend this product – money well spent !
These are life savers if you have cold hands!
These little things heat up really quickly and kept my hands warm and cosy. I’d definitely recommend them. They’re also great environmentally too, compared to the hands warmers I used to use before.
ideal for my fishing trips
can split into two pockets, also can fit inside my mitts when I have them on, plus if I have mitts off I leave them inside so mitts are always cosy to put your hands back in , charge is good for me on a 4 hour+ trip,
I’m glad I found these
Heat up very quickly
These were bought for a Christmas present but I wanted to try these first so I charged them up.
They are brilliant, heat up very quickly and very hot I am very impressed and would highly recommend them, perfect size one for each hand or combined the two together, such a pretty design top for a lady only.
Super helpful for cold hands suffers
They are super quick to warm up and great for when hands are cold making the warming up process much faster and super great, love how compat they are and the bag they come with is super useful to keep them together when not in use
Excellent hand warmers
So far theses warmers are effective and hold a decent charge. I’ve found that I only really need to use these on the first setting and the second for very cold days as they can get really hot, considering the size of them they have good battery life aswell. This may change over time with use but I haven’t had them long enough to notice yet so I’d definately recommend these for winter.
5.0 out of 5 stars Keeps me warm
Great product for the price . The temperature was warm enough and they lasted all day. Also the hand straps were good when I needed to do something with my hands.
Warm and compac
Like these. Palm sized and do the job nicely. I find the lowest heat setting to be sufficient for hand warming. As a test, I had these running for 4 hours and still showing two of the three power indicators illuminated. Could slip inside your gloves or in a hoodie front pocket. Thinking about these for Christmas presents.
