Previously I was using an Insta360 One but I didnt like the formfactor. This camera is very compact and have a bright screen where you can see the photo and video quality very good. For me a must to check the picture directly after shooting.
The Google Streetview compaibility is very usefull, with a small camera you can generate the blue lines on Google Maps.

I recently purchased the new PanoX V2 360-degree camera, and I am very happy with it. I have used several other consumer cameras in the past, but this one is by far the best. The image quality is fantastic, both for photos and videos. I will be using the camera in my work as a photographer, virtual tour creator, and GSV contributor.

The camera is lightweight and portable, and it is easy to use. The software is responsive and easy to navigate. The only two drawbacks I found for now are that the camera does not come with a microSD card, and the battery life is relatively short.

I will be using the camera for a variety of purposes in my work. I will be using it to create virtual tours of businesses and tourist attractions. I will also be using it to document construction projects and insurance claims. The camera’s small size makes it ideal for mounting on a drone, which will allow me to capture 360-degree photos and videos from the air. This is a great way to create Google Street View trails in areas that are inaccessible to vehicles.

Overall, I am very impressed with the new PanoX V2. It is a powerful tool that can be used for a variety of purposes. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a high-quality one-shoot 360-degree camera in a reasonable price.

    Pros:
    Excellent image quality
    Lightweight and portable
    Easy to use
    Responsive software
    Easy to use

    Cons:
    No microSD card included
    Short battery life

I wanted this to be an exceptional piece of kit, as I do a lot of hiking, mountain biking, crag hopping etc, and I spend a great deal of time up mountains. I have been putting this product through it paces for 3 weeks now and I have to say it has some good points and some bad ones. Some I think will be resolved by firmware updates over time, but these should be pre release tweaks.

Important information before setup: I had some issues with memory cards to begin with, trying SanDisk Extreme Pro cards, with up to 170mb/s write speed and Samsung SD cards which I had previously used in my DJI Mavic Air 2 with not issues. Unfortunately non of these cards were accepted by the device. All failed to even format. I then bought a Sandisc Extreme 256gb card (roughly 19.99 at tie of review), which had a write speed up to 190mb/s and this lo and behold worked fine, right out the box.

Setup: This was relatively straight forward. After powering on the camera asked for the usual
country etc, and then the WiFi so it could run a software update.

Control via the device: The device is well developed but i feel like it still has some bugs. The swiping of the screen to access different menus does work, but it does take some getting used to, and compared to my phone it was quite slow and I initially judged it quite harshly. After using it for a week now, I have gotten to grips with it and it’s does work well, but can be frustrating when it does not respond first time. Committing the location of menus to memory can take a little time.

Control via a phone: This is an exciting feature and I can see this being my go to means of taking images on location, particularly at the summit of mountain and hills. The device has a trip on thread which means that on location you can set up you device and use the eMobile app to pivot and what’s more take both 360 video and photos. These can be exported up to 12K and the quality is outstanding. Unlike the device itself, I feel like the mobile app communicates what the device is doing far better. There have been times when I have not known that the device was processing information from its own screen, but the eMobile app tells you these key pieces of information and prevents you from interfering with the device which has caused errors and crashes when taking photos.

Reviewing photos: You can review photos on the device but it is limited. This is really useful to ensure that the panorama has not blurred or errored, however there is no pinch zoom function, so I quickly linked the device to my iPhone and used the Panox app to download the pictures (this was super easy by the way, and also gives you some additional options to alter the resolution of your pictures). Even better is that you can pinch zoom into you pano photos and because the resolution is so high, you can crop photos quite considerably without pixelation.

Reviewing video: Videos can be rotated as you watch them, which is particularly cool, again this is a better feature when conducted on you mobile device. I use my iPad quite a lot for this, due mainly to the internal memory needed, because the 4K+ photos and video are so big. You also hear some of the audio, although the speaking in the device is not really designed for stereo so this is tinny and sounds better when on your editing device. I also think it struggles with enclosed echoey areas. Outdoors the speakers work well, but are affected by wind.

Stitching photos and video: Something I had not experimented until just now was the stitching of photos and video. This is very useful and very effective at removing the joins between the front and rear camera. I would be tempted to do this at the end of a trip in order to conserve not only memory but also battery. Once video stick used 64mb of memory and phots were 16mb (not much, but is adds up).

Sleep mode: After being inactive for a few seconds it does power down the screen which is then activated again with the red button and touching the screen, you can see it is still on via the green led.

Support: Panox do have quite an impressive collection of tutorials on the app, however they are all silent movies with individuals demonstrating rather than talking through. There is also an impressive collection of featured pictures to demonstrate what the device can do. The Lens Master does not have a dedicated page yet sadly, but it does say “stay tuned!”.

The Panox V2 camera is a nice small size and solid. The low light photos and video is brilliant! It takes very good 360 video at low light as well. Battery last a long time. I am very impressed with the camera overall. For what it is and can do it’s a steal for the price!

    :

I originally tested this with my Android smartphone, however, I was recently able to get my hands on my friend’s iPhone 14 Pro Max and the results were positive in the sense the videos play as they should even exported; so it seems like could potentially be either an issue with my phone or Android.

With that said, I still stand by my point mentioned in the original review that there should be a software available for the desktop to edit these 360 videos.

    :

I have very mixed opinions which is a shame because the quality of this 360 camera is surprisingly good! Unfortunately it is let down by the software which lacks on various features.

This camera does take quite a bit of time to load up once turned on but once all loaded up, I found it easy to navigate through the various modes/settings and is very straight-forward taking photos an recording video; the variety of modes available is great.

Using the playback to view your content through the camera is a good experience as the screen is clear and the touch-control is responsive when adjusting the viewing angle from the 360 footage.

So initially it seems the camera offers mainly a positive user experience; unfortunately, this is where we get into the negatives:

There is no software included for desktop editing.
The smartphone App is very basic and lacks functionality.
To connect the camera to your smartphone through the App, they both need to be connected to the same network and it needs to be stable; this restricts your use when traveling. I have several devices that have their own WiFi for file transfer capabilities, why does this not have the same!?
The editing on the App is awful. Yes it allows you to download the photos with a 360 FoV, however, I also want to be able to choose a specific angle from the 360 photo then export it as a standard photo.
You have to click ‘download’ on your recording before you can edit with markers to have the camera angle reframed a certain way at various points throughout the video, but you still get a 360 video file when exporting… It’s incredibly frustrating! Especially when the ‘Insta360’ brand has this figured out.

It really is a shame because this camera has nice dynamic range and quality overall but doesn’t have the software to back it up to the same level of quality (at the time of review).

If PANOX can bring out a firmware or software update to address some of my issues above, then this camera would easily be 5 stars.

: You will need to buy a MicroSD if you don’t have one already as it does not have any internal memory.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’ve used many different 360 cameras over the years. I was intrigued by the PanoX V2’s features and it seemed just what I needed for a project. When it arrived I realised that this camera is a bit of a marvel, especially for this price point!

It shoots 12K (72 megapixel) 360 photos, 5.7K video at 30fps (and 8K at 10fps), and it can live-stream 360 video at 4K to YouTube with zero fuss about configurations: just log into YouTube and start streaming to the world. (It can also live-stream to Facebook and to multiple streaming protocols, so it’s pretty flexible.)

Photos are automatically shot as HDR, which is particularly important with 360 cameras: the highlights and shadows in shots feel natural and keep their details. The auto settings performed well, and when I hit more challenging scenes the manual mode’s has shutter, ISO and white balance controls, and exposure compensation plus and minus up to 2 stops.

There’s a USB-C port, a microSD card slot (there’s no internal storage), and one physical button to start the device; everything from that point is managed on the 3-inch display, which is much nicer than the tiny screens on some other popular 360 cameras!
To connect with the PanoX mobile app and control it remotely you’ll need to have your phone and the camera on the same wifi network, or use the camera’s wifi hotspot option. (Or get the camera onto your phone’s hotspot I guess — I haven’t tried that but it’s a logical alternative.)

There are lots of other features including face tracking, GPS and more, but those will have to be covered another time. So many tricks!

    Cons? They’re few and minor:
The screen sleep default is 30 seconds, which proved to be too short for me, but this can go up to 10 minutes or ‘never’ (which is going to run the battery down, so don’t).
The on-screen keyboard for configuring things like streaming settings is either the ‘T9’ style I remember from the pre-smartphone era or a regular keyboard which is just too small to use easily. Fortunately it’s rarely needed, so I’m rocking the retro T9!

    Very happy.

Great purchase. I found the functions which I missed from Insta360 X3: Live streaming in 360, Simple upload to Google Street View and possibility to merge videos (I couldn’t do this in PC version of Insta Studio).
Last but not least it’s sold on very competitive price.
