VERY GOOD
A definite improvement on the 3000 series. Shaves much closer than my old 3000 razor. One reviewer says annoyingly that his finger often accidentally turns the razor off whilst shaving. this has happened to me but it’s not really a problem, just hold it differently. That’s an easy fix for a much better shave.
Loving this produc
Works really well for me, glides smoothly on the skin and does give me quite a close cut – obviously it’s better if using it regularly as it can snag on longer hairs but it’s well worth the money and there’s no tidying up afterwards eithe
I decided to try an electric shaver after years of wet shaving as my skin is aging and drying out and I dislike a beard.
The last time I tried a battery electric shaver was way back in the 1970’s and I wasn’t impressed. However I am really happy with the performance and features of this product, it really gives me a nice close shave with no water. The shaver can also be used with water or in the shower if required as it’s waterproof, but I won’t use that feature, but I do like it that you can run the head assembly under a running tap to clean it after use without the need of a brush. It also has a trimmer attachment which I have not used yet, but it looks useful.
So far, I’m a really happy new user or this Philips shaver.
very clean shave
Very prompt delivery. Was surprised to find a three pin electric charging cable instead of the the normal two pin electric charging cable, considering the instructions and photos show a two pin charging cable and nowhere is there any mention of a three pin charging cable
Fantastic shave
Excellent close shave. The button is annoying when using. I purchased this on the 1st of September, it cost me 75 and by today the 14th of September its already at 95. It’s well worth getting it on a great deal.
I have very sensitive skin hence I try to avoid blades, and with blades it takes a lot of time for me as I’m more careful when I’m shaving. However with this it’s very easy and convenient, you can even shave in your room and doesn’t make any mess as the hair is caught within the machine and you can discard once you have completed your shave.
I have used it around four times on single charge and I can possibly use it another couple of times before recharging it.
Very easy to clean, you can do either dry or wet shave it works fine. Very good and sturdy, it has removable hinges which is good, as hinges can break very easily.
Good Shaver For the Price
Bought this to replace defunct old Philips shave of many, many years.
I personally found it a bit awkward to hold and kept catching the on/off button, but that’s probably just me, but, it shaves very. very, well, so much better than my old Philips shaver.
Only charged once so far and has lasted on that for a few weeks, but then again I only shave once a week.
Decent shaver for the price.
Great overall quality shaver. Bought this as a replacement for a shaver that was of a similar design, but broke. I gotta say this is the best overall shaver I’ve had in eons. Great 50/50 combination of wet and dry shaving. Feels smooth when shaving and is great value for money. Battery life seems good too. Only downside is that it feels a tad fragile, hence the four out of five stars. That aside, however, the shaver does its job and for that alone, I can’t fault it really. Great value for money shaver and worth the investment.
life changing
I used this for the first time yesterday. The shave was so nice and close with zero irritation. the only gripe I have with this is the lack of a cover to protect the blades, the pathetic useless bag thats provided is not suitable, other than that I can wholly recommend this. I registered it with Philips and got an extended warranty for 36 months for free!
I enjoy using this shave
Takes a bit of getting used to but now-produces a nice comfortable shave for me.
It is quiet and no harsh sound like some other shavers.
I was sceptical about cleaning the cutting heads under the tap, but, yet again you get used to it and it dries quickly. I leave mine open on a folded sheet of kitchen roll.
The shaver does not have a plastic cover, but I have not found this to be a problem.
It also comes with a cloth bag that is useful when travelling. I was pleased to see a UK plug attached, which again is another useful feature.
I cannot think of any drawbacks. A good buy at a reasonable cost.
Bought this for my husband. On the box picture you can see various lights lit up. When he switches shaver on it just shows a picture of a tap nothing else. He cannot see how much charge he has left so stopped half way through a shave. Instructions impossible to make out. Can anyone please explain to me how to get the other things lit up on the shaver so that you can see how much charge you have left etc. is there a magic way that we are missing. Aside from that gives a good shave but cleaning the heads very very fiddly with the flimsy plastic things you have to put in place. This is not a complaint just a cry for help.
I have an awful combination of strong beard and a very sensitive skin, and I have always been using razors because the only time in my life that I tried an electric shaver I got a quite bad shave and a very red and irritated skin.
But technology changes and I was a bit fed up of spending a fortune on razors (due to my sensitive skin I bought always the best -and most expensive- ones), so I decided to try the electric ones.
After a year using it, I couldn’t be happier about the decision: quick, clean and smooth shaving every day. First thing to know is that it is not a razor, so shaving is NEVER going to be as close as with a razor, but I definitely find it good enough for the daily needs. However, if you have the date of your life, you might want to revert to razors for that day!!
A few pieces of advice:
– If you have never used electric ones, you might want to go for a wet shaving in the shower instead of a dry one. It works perfectly under the water and it is much smoother.
– If you want extra smoothness, try putting a bit of soap or showering gel on your face and neck (as you would use foam with a razor), the difference is amazing.
– And last, if you are going to use it in the shower with soap… it might become slippery, so you might want to consider going for the insurance!! I first bought one of the Philips Series 3000, dropped it once, and that was the end of it (less than one month). So the insurance may pay-off (now that I have the insurance I have never dropped it).
By the way, the difference between series 3000 and 5000 is enormous, if you can afford the series 5000 (there are good offers from time to time), do not hesitate it. I guess that series 7000 are even better, but it exceeded my budget!
I hope that, even though the review is quite lengthy, you find it helpful!
For context, this review has been written after about a week of use.
I tend to get razor rash and ingrown hairs super easily, This is the first electric shaver I’ve used, and it has drastically reduced the severity of the rashes I get, Which is super great for me, and I think it works out to being cheaper than buying fusion 5 blades over the long term.
Of course this doesn’t give as close shave as a disposable razor, However this is pretty normal for electric shavers, and is thus unsurprising, but it does get pretty close assuming it’s clean and you use it wet. It also is really great for body hair.
Which brings me a to a second point if it encounters large hair it tends to build up hair underneath the blades that doesn’t get washed out, this means you may need to dismantle the rotor every so often if you use it in a bath where hair has been shed, or because you haven’t shaved in a while. But it’s not incredibly difficult to do.
It’s likely that I’ll still hold on to and use my fusion 5 for certain areas that the rotors don’t exactly catch well as the head of the shaver is quite large, but this is really good and has really reduced the amount of rashes I get, and likely the amount I’ll end up spending on razor blades. So overall it really fulfils my use case but YMMV.
